    I think questions about folder structure and icons came up a while ago and now I got a great reference to link. And try out myself.
    One bit of advice tho: dragging from windows Explorer to resolve won't work if you run Resolved as admin.

    Incredibly helpful and it leads directly into my question. At the end you showed a graphic and played a bell sound effect. Is there a way to create a reusable template that includes a sound effect?

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  Год назад

      Not through Resolve Edit FX library.. But you can create a compound clip with Audio and FX and put that into a Power Bin to use from there.

    • @PeteRondeau
      @PeteRondeau Год назад

      @@VFXstudy ok, follow up question. Can a power bin be bundled up in some way that it can be easily shared with another creator like a template can?

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  Год назад

      @PeteRondeau unfortunately not. The easiest for sharing in that case might be to create a dummy project and export that as project archive with all media. The other person can import again and save in his power bins.

    Good (and understandable) explanation!.
    By the way...I hope someone can help met out!!! After upgrading to DR17 I have a problem in fusion and I cant figure out why.
    When I make an adjustment in the fusion page (no matter what or how) the preview window gets blurry while adjusting. After the adjustment the view ¨pops¨back to a clear view.
    As you can imagine its hard to make chances when the preview is blurry! So does anyone have the same problem or knows how de adjust settings so the preview windows stays clear instead of blurry (while adjusting).
    By the way I have a MSI Creator, Intell I7, GTX with 32 memory so the specs should be oke....
    Any help is welcome....thanks!

      You probably have the autoproxy enabled. Right-click on the playback bar in Fusion to see the proxy settings and disable the auto proxy.

    • @lrd669
      @lrd669 3 года назад

      @@VFXstudy You were absolutely right. I disabled the auto proxy and it works like a charm. Don´t understand why but it works. Thank you for that, you saved me a lot of hours irritated editing in the fusion page. Again thanks!

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  3 года назад +1

      @@lrd669 Autoproxy is intended to reduce the quality during parameter adjustments so that updates happen faster and more interactively in that scenario. But it's not necessary for effects that process fast enough and can also be irritating...

    Hi Bernd, weißt Du zufällig wenn ich in einer Fusion Comp. 2 Video Clips mit Shockwave Animationen habe, wie ich diese über den Merge Knoten zusammenblende sodass beide sichtbar sind ? Bislang kann ich beim Blend Mode einstellen was ich will, ich sehe immer nur eine der beiden Animationen....

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  3 года назад

      Hmm, not sure what images you have there - they have transparent alpha? if not, besides using the blend slider you can experiment with the blend modes or do keying on one of them before merging - if I understand the scenario correctly...

    Very interesting! Thanks for sharing. I often want to create a Fusion composition from scratch and reuse it just inside the project by duplicating it in the time line. I would like to be able to edit it easily without the extra mile via a macro or template. So far so good, it's possible. But I also would like to publish some custom parameters to the edit page so I can fast iterate and fine tune the settings easily. But I can't find a way of making custom parameters available on the edit page without creating a macro / template. Am I overlooking something?

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  2 года назад

      Normally template is the way to go. Maybe you can start from an existing template and add parameters, but there needs to be an effect that the inspector can pick up from the edit page. If you just switch to Fusion on clip level I don't think there's a link like that.

    Hi Bernd, great tutorial as always. However, for some reason, the setting variable doesn't work on my end. If I type the variable in the loader node then the node and all the other tools connected to it become red. Any clues? Thanks!

    Is there a simple way to install a bundle both to fusion and the edit page at the same time?
    I made a text effect that ideally would be used on the edit page more than the fusion page. When making it I was manually placing my effect in the titles folder and I could see and use it via edit page. But installing the bundle this way only makes it visible in fusion.

  • @ariaperdana24

    That "setting:" path is really buggy. The template will not load the media (nodes become red) unless i modify the path a little bit (like changing "setting:media.png" to "setting:/media.png" or vice versa). Anybody also experienced this?

    • @ariaperdana24
      @ariaperdana24 3 года назад +1

      I solve my own problem. Turns out that i have to reference the path after i saved the nodes into a macro, and then saving it again to bundle it. To anybody whom experiencing this issue, the workflow is you create the template with normal absolute path in the loader, save it as a macro inside any of resolve fusion template folder, load it again in fusion and then change the loader path using relative "setting:" path. After that, save that macro again, replace the old ones, bundle it, and install it. Not very intuitive way to prep for creative assets. I hope BMD changes this in the future.

    So I'm trying your methode above to create and share templates how ever none of them work on other systems. they show as media off line. I tried setting:\file name but it doesn't work when I do that the templates no longer work for me. I'm on resolve 18 now. any suggestions?

    • @VFXstudy
      @VFXstudy  9 месяцев назад

      the setting: relative path should work but make sure you have the correct spelling and correct relative path and the files are in the correct place. You can copy&paste a macro with loader node into a text editor to see the settings path in the plain text to compare.

    • @linkslivemedia7050

      @@VFXstudy So I went back and did ywhat you suggested and had a look at the file in a text editor. everything looked right but the files would not work so I changed the file back to point to the location on my drive. and resaved the .settings files. I opened the new file in a text editor and changed it to the Setting:/file saved and it started to work. must be a bug in the version of Resolve I'm using. thanks you for the great tutorial.

      hi Jake i have the same problem, Did you find a solution?

    • @Sarboxz
      @Sarboxz Год назад +1

      i back here and i find a solution, the most time when you use te setting:\ with a subfolder it broke the links, but if you save the macro with the normal path an then open it with the notepad or something similar, so you cand find the paths and replace a part with the setting:,
      one example this is the original path:
      Filename = "C:\\Users\\youruser\\AppData\\Roaming\\Blackmagic Design\\DaVinci Resolve\\Support\\Fusion\\Templates\\Edit\\Generators\\Backgrounds\\BackgroundAssets\\Border.png",
      my subfolder is "Backgrounds" and too you can save the macro(.setting) in the same folder to get a better organization in the effects or generators tab
      so this is the filepath after put the "setting:"
      ""setting:\\BackgroundAssets\\Border.png"
      after that save the file, you dont need to reestar davinci, just drag the generator to the timeline or the effect to a clip.
      I hope it will be of help, I also want to thank @VFXStudy for the tutorial, thanks

    You have put some Great tutorials for Us!!
    I have some issues with the performance of Fusion Studio.
    I have a really simple comp with some png files to do a logo intro, I am getting 6 to 16 frames for second at playback even with proxi on. My setup: AMD Threatripper Pro, 3955 64GB Ram, M2 980 Pro dedicate for the comps, two GPUs, RTXA5000 and RTXA4000. Fusion recognized openGL in only the A5000. The same happened in Davinci.
    Any way, I am so frustrated with how slow it is. I have just finished a huge scene animation on blender and is crazy fast, so I don’t understand why this so small scene is that slow. On Nvidia control panel I have the preset for video editing, but I don’t know if that is helpful or not. Any ideas?

      Hard to say where your bottleneck is. You can try the GPU acceleration by turning it off on node level settings. It could also be memory or codec related thing or related to your node graph... just some things to try / look at

    Hey!
    Great tutorial, first of all!
    So, I have created a lower third title with different logos from social media platforms via an Image sequence, loaded this image sequence in a loader node and used a time stretcher node with a custom control to pick my social media icons from a drop down menu.
    Now, If I follow along (and because I want to save this as a title, in the edit/title/ folder and rename the path from the loader to setting:/Iconsxyz.png and put my icons in this title folder, it will not work, every node turned red. Aren't you allowed to put .png files in that "title" folder? Is there any way around that you might now?
    And another problem. If I do it like you said here, the generator route, If I zip the folder and call it Bundle.drfx it will not recognize that it is a drfx file? Why is that?
    Thanks for your help in advance!

      @@VFXstudy tbh, there are SOME resolvefx that are useful but unavailable in the Fusion's standalone version. I hope that BMD would add resolvefx into fusion standalone 'cause Fusion inside resolve shouldn't be BETTER than the standalone version one. Otherwise, there will be no reason for the standalone version to be exist. (I know that the performance and stability are better inside the fusion standalone, but still, there are things that they should add to the standalone version.)
