  • The CS-280E is one of the early top handle versions of chainsaw from Echo. We came across this gem in a box lot at an auction. To our surprise it didn't take much to get it running. After all these years it's still a strong running reliable saw that we break out now and then for trimming our trees.

I work in a scrapyard, one of these came in just a little worse condition than the one youve shown. Of course any chainsaw that comes in I gotta give er a haul and see how it feels. With no gas and a shitty spark plug that thing wanted to GO. Fresh gas and a new spark plug and she fired up in the yard. Immediately went to my boss like "can I have this? We didnt pay anything for it buddy just wanted it gone", and I got to take her home. Mine doesn't have the chain break, as well it has a different style throttle. Same throttle lock but the throttle is white and runs the entirety of the bottom half, exact same styling as a Stihl TS420. Love that little saw, chain on er was still even good.

I have the identical saw. I bought it new in 1986. I'm having trouble with the oil going through too fast. It has always been a very handy saw for brush and limbing. Good Luck, Rick

I believe the first digit of the serial number is the year of manufacture. If it’s a 9 then 1979. A 1 is 1981.
