- Battlefield 5 vs Battlefield 1, which game is better? In this video I compare Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 1 on their gunplay, maps, immersion, vehicles, campaign, visuals, game modes, and customization. I will award a point to whichever game I feel does that particular category better and at the end we will have a final score to determine which game is better. I’ve enjoyed both games, but BF1 had that magical “it” factor. I get chills whenever I hear the squad leader signaling his whistle to storm the trenches.

Loading up operations just to see a 32 man charge with men screaming and whistles blowing is an experience no other game I've played has achieved. BF1 is such a masterpiece

The problem with horses in BF1 is the fact that for some reason, the soldier on the horse seems to have ultra-super powers and you cannot kill him with anything.
He’s wearing full torso body armor lol now his horse on the other hand is an actual tank. I’ve never unloaded a full magazine from a Browning BAR into a horse in real life, but I’m assuming it wouldn’t survive hahaha

it is necessary for them to work in game.
the fact that horse blocks sometimes on random objects would be instant death sentance. But i would be all in for reduced hp of cavalry if they increased their spawn rate by like 3-4 horses.
yeah, some details have to be obviously dropped for the sake of enjoyment, if horses and rider had normal health, no one would play them as it would literally just be a downgrade as you'd just be a bigger target

Completely agree with your points and view, for me BF1 still is an amazing game. After playing BF2042 Open Beta I immediately jumped in BF1 to wash that awful taste.

@@Randomstlhero in hindsight we know that they given us a bare bones BF2042 Open Beta, which was bleak. I had to wash the taste from BF2042 Open Beta with BF1.
Will wait and see how BF2042 will be at launch, which from previews look like a different game than the Open Beta.
Let's hope the awful taste in our mouths is temporary. I really want 2042 to carry on what was great about 1, even what was great about V but my experience from the Beta made me genuinely sad haha.

Battlefield 1 all day long, just for the atmosphere. the weather, the dirt on the gun, it's just all-around better. I just installed BF5 the other day and the maps suck ass as they are very big and bland.

I just played bf5 and this is the most irritating thing. The maps are huge yet they are so underutilized.
This Battlefield V looks like a Battle Royale, giant maps, where few people are working together to cooperate with the objective. What saves it are the maps on expansion by pacific islands.
The only immersion i get on bf5 is when i'm playing as a fighter plane

i would argue that bf1 is one of the best if not the best shooter game of all time. It’s realistic and has so much immersion i find myself cranking my sound up till it shakes my house to feel like i’m there 🤣

Bf1 campaign was very good, felt like a real war. Bf5 was sometimes too much inaccurate. Multiplayer in both games are fun ngl

The BF1 intro is one of the most iconic intros in gaming. Truly amazing.
BF1 by far. It’s an actual representation of WW1 for the most part and doesn’t contain any political correct bs. Great Campaign too.

B5 is too bright for it to be taken seriously in a war. B1 is a perfect mixture of bright colors while still maintaining a war look to it. B5 has an interesting gun gameplay. B5 has red dots that you can just put on your gun without a rail. B1 doesn't have red dots because it really wasn't invented in WW1 unless you are talking about a sniper scope. B1 has THE BEST sound design.

yes bf1 does have red dots.
With BF1 it feels like the developers loved the game, the small details that they didn’t need to add but did, especially with the guns. In BF5 they just didn’t care. For example in BF1 you could hold down the trigger on the M97 trench gun and it would slam fire like an actual M97, they didn’t need to do that, but when you find it you can’t help but smile. The M97 trench gun in BF5? Yeah that feature is nowhere to be seen. And that’s just one of the countless little things they did in BF1
+Alex Schmidt BF5 was a victim of its time. The push for cosmetics, women in video games, etc. I Also think BF5 was rushed. BF1 was a different story. The fan base was tired of modern warfare and futuristic if you will. It is not surprising the ambitions were a lot more recognized and favored for its BOOTS ON THE GROUND GAMEPLAY, over its competitor, COD Infinite Warfare. Which btw, is actually a good game, story wise. Its a shame that it didn't get the love that it deserved at launch.
So while BF5 may be the unfavorable BF game, it did had some moments and improvements over BF1. Their particle based system and raytracing were the big ones. The destruction, got MY attention mostly as building or houses would crumble realistically, while BF1 still had this BF bad company design overall where you could just blow up holes in walls and that's it. The zeppelins were a nice touch however. Others like the full body awareness dialed up a notch in BF5, like when prone crawling backwards. I think other animations like climbing up ledges and running while crouch was also new compared to BF1?! Guns acted more realistic because of its setting, something that ACTUALLY really really bothered me when playing BF1.
But yes, I'm not a fan that the ambitions for this game was and still is, not there. The Story is POOR compared to BF1. The maps were uninspired and boring.
BF5 has more small details like mud and snow sticks to clothes. Footsteps and stuff. BF1 has less detail but seems more realistic still

Bfv has the same thing. It just doesn’t have the same atmosphere and sound design. People literally only like bf1 bc it manipulates you into thinking it’s fun with superficial things like visuals. When in reality it’s a broken mess of a game with horrible game design that rewards scummy bullshit like spawn trapping. The fact that I can throw an incendiary grenade at an area and then run into an enemy objective from the opposite side and then wait bc players will spawn at that spot and instantly die is just the most unfair game design in an fps. Hell sometimes I can just aim at that spot and they’ll spawn in my sights.
@@zzodysseuszz BF1 isn’t perfect for sure. But it doesn’t trick you into a good time with small details, it’s legitimately one of the best online FPS games. And no I’m not a try hard or a dirty player, if I see someone spawn I give them a 5 second head start before shooting. From the small details, to maps and gameplay it’s a masterpiece.

BF1 for gunplay very easily and I prefer the more simple movement its way more realistic BF5 only for customisation that’s it
I expected BFV to look and feel like BF1 just in WWII and boy was I disappointed.

bf1 is so immersive, behemoths are so cool imagine running on a zipline while its burning down
The zeppelin would fall rapidly. Therefore taking the tension off the zipline. Making it useless and you fall to your death lol
That’s what ruined the game for me those bs trains while bfv went back to more fair approach now I get killed by skilled players than a battleship on the other side of the map
@@alexnowicki286 the battleships make more sense from a realism perspective but from a game perspective it was a bit unfair getting mass killed by a battleship or a zeplin or even a armoured train. However let's not forget the AA tank in bf5 which was just essentially a way to farm kills from across the map.

@@alexnowicki286 dude I really prefer the battleships and the armoured trains and zeplins since they make it at least fair when your team is losing and the enemy team is winning. Plus battlefield 1is full of hackers now that use aimbot.

i took bf1 for granted when it first came out. i probably spent about 200 or so hrs into it and i went back to playing bf4.. but man i went back a couple months ago and its now one of my favorite fps shooters of all time next to halo 3 and mw2. truly a masterpiece game. not to mention the incredible war stories single player. that intro with hud off is one of the best openings to any game. its so emotional and surreal to how frontline firefights were probably like. bf1 is amazing to say the least

This is exactly my experience with the game. Also I love Halo 3 and MW2.
Unfortunately the mcc version of Halo 3 is full of sweats who have been playing halo since it came out so it's rlly hard getting into it

bf 1 is by far the only dice game i've ever played that have a good campaign, the multiplayer of course for both games are fun and addictive the first couple hour

BF1 was amazing. BF5, I feel like I can't even see what's happening, everything is too fast and too slow at the same time, I have all the information on my screen except for information that I need like the spotting mechanism every soldier possessed in BF1...
BF5 is absolutely chocked with nonsense weaponry too. I never see people using the traditional arsenal, just the Sturmgewehr 1-5.
why use other weapons if the Sturmgewehr is literally the best weapon in the game, thats something that i dont like

I played 2-3 rounds of BFV recently, and it was literally just a 'meta' experience. Everyone was laying prone just camping in the same spots every match, literally their asses backed up vertically against the fucking corners of buildings/structures etc. couldn't even see enemies until you get to a choke point where a bunch of lmg sweat-lords camp the entire match with their golden guns and lvl 300 cringe skull-bearing gamertag...its like every map and mode in bfv is a similar experience. No ones running around causing chaos or having fun, its just a sweaty and meta experience
Definitely, you explained the major issue I had with bf5... It felt so fast and incoherent, like there was no real organization to the team other than just sprinting around spamming the slide button hoping some sweat doesn't evaporate you in under a second. Bf1s slower limited movement, and clear battle lines really helped the team play.
The thing with planes in Bf1 is that you don't really need a stationary AA gun, just 2 or 3 supports can easily take down any plane in a matter of seconds, not to mention the assault AA cannon and the artillery truck AA variant. For this reason I feel Bf1 planes are pretty well balanced
I forgot just how much damage you can do to planes with an LMG in BF1, unlike in BF5 where you need an AA

Got battlefield V for free with prime gaming recently, played it for about 4 rounds and got matched with hackers on the other team 3 out of the 4 times and some visual glitches in all of them. Battlefield one came with my xbox about 5 years ago and haven't encountered very much glitches and the campaign was super enjoyable to replay for someone who didn't have xbox live. Battlefield V's campaign was finished in 2 hours and was pretty boring. Battlefield one is 100% my favorite of the bunch

These are honestly the only battlefield games I can really get into, simpler and more exciting gameplay compared to some of the other games
Gas, bayonets, cavalry. Quite a unique fps, and WWII gets so much attention, but we rode into the Great War on horses and out of it on tanks. BF1's greatness has inspired many to delve into the often forgotten history of WWI which played a definitive role in shaping the modern world. The Great War is still a stellar RUclips channel. Beneath Hill 60 is one of many great WWI flicks. Poilu, the journal of Louis Barthas, barrelmaker, who was in the trenches through much of the conflict is a fantastic read.
BFV was a good game, but BF1 was a special, unique sorta good game. Probably why they have about equally active player bases even though one has a few years over the other.
They’re also entirely different time periods. Some people may prefer the history of WWI over WWII or vice versa.

I got bf1 yesterday and I've really been enjoying the atmosphere and immersion I spent a good 5 hours yesterday screaming curse words in german while looking at the explosions
Battlefield 1 was the first Battlefield game I ever played and I bought it after 5 had come out. Tons of players. Stunning sounds and visuals. I played it with a 2080 ti and my jaw dropped at the sights it gave me!!!! I was a terrible player, unable to hit my targets so though it was a lot of fun I didn't dive deep in the game. A bit overwhelming as a first time player.

I'd say BF1 on average has better war stories, but BFV does have "The last Tiger" arguably the best war story between both games.
BF1 had the plane war story then BFV had the tank one, I say both are good in their own right. (Still prefer the Tiger though because it kinda shows how the Germans thought on the last bit of the war.)

Around 2min mark you talked about the immersion in BFV vs BF1 and its true, Dice made some huge mistakes with including unrealistic stuff in BFV. The biggest fail for me are the nydar sights for SMG's and other weapons. So many players use them and they really seem to help with the recoil. I'm on of the few who choose to make the game a bit harder and use iron sights for SMG's, always. The gunplay is otherwise great in BFV, for me even better than in BF1. I've been playing V more than 1, but it's often a hard choice. In 1 the atmosphere is better, but it also has it flaws. Not the atmosphere, but other things. It's a huge shame how Dice gave up on BFV and we never got the Eastern front etc...

The immersion in BF1 is on another level. For eg open a custom map that has no people in it, you can see the artillery fires going of in a distance, plane flying above, men yelling in a distance etc; even if you are not in an actual match of bf1 you still feel like you are close to an actual match going on and is just heading to there. The actual gameplay is refined to perfection. When you are in a match, you dont feel like you are the one controlling everything or like the protagonist of a story of some sort, you are an infantry in a greater war with many other people just like you working for the same goal and the only time you feel like a leader is if you are the head of a group and is giving objectives, communicating with your teammates to do what is best and relaying info to one another. That is when you need a "leader" experience and that is exactly what you get. I could go on for hours about how great this game is but I dont have enough time so I'll wrap this up with saying "Just buy it, you will not regret any one second of it"
Do you know BFV also had background design 👍 and each game can be made to what you just said it all just depends for your feel for it I personally enjoy BFV because LMG aren’t broken in it compared to BF1

I think movement mcehanics should play a role in the scoring system. I would give that one to BFV. Crouch run is an awesome mechanic and the mounting and lunging in BFV makes it the best movement system for a BF game ever, if not one of the best movement systems for an FPS game in general.
100% everyone sleeps on how incredibly fluid the movement physics were. Hands down the best in the franchise, and the best in any FPS game. When you play it, and you go back and play the Bad Company's, BF3&4, you realize how far we've come with movement, and why we can never go back lol.
Yeah, the movement may have been ok but the gun engagements themselves and the bizarre deaths were so bad that the movement doesn't even matter. I swear there's EOMM in this game.

Going back to bf5 today after getting bf2042 it isn't as bad as a remember. There are some people still playing it had I was able to have fun. The plane combat somehow feels slower than bf1 but it isn't as bad as bf2042 plane combat. So what I am saying is bf5 may not be the best bf but it isn't as bad as we might remember it.
I agree with most of the points, but, one thing that always gets me is: why people hate camuflage? Not all FPS games should be easy to spot enemies. In fact, that's one of the things that makes me enjoy BF more than other FPS games. If you rush like Rambo, you probably gonna end up dying really quickly.
I honestly think that players blend in equally well in both games. Sniper glimts are much easier to spot in BF1 though, and the larger "fortify your objectives" maps in BFV personally gives BFV a huge win for me.
Depends. The skins and stuff for BFV can stand out in certain environments and get you spotted, although the winter maps of BF1 can fuck you up if you're fighting in the open, because dark uniforms on a white, snowy backdrop sucks, and the Soviets learned this the hard way in the Winter War.
Agree 100%. Recently went back to bf1. It’s still so good. Was considering trying bf5 again but I don’t have it on ps5 so I was dabbling with the idea of rebuying it but thank you for talking me out of it lol

Two years back when hating on BF5 was popular, love how people grew to love the game, and now it's pretty much as good as BF1.
BF1 will forever be one of my favourite FPS games, So many great memories and moments, i truly hope the servers stay populated for many years to come.
BFV Was a missed opportunity in my book, If they took the basis from BF1 and put it in a WW2 setting, i believe the game would be allot more succesfull then it was.
Kind of like a Fallout 3, Fallout New vegas kind of story, when you found a good formula, work to perfect it, dont change it.

The definitive thing for me was that bfV was just TOO clean. Firing the guns feels like using a BB gun. Another example that really changed it for me that I only noticed while watching this is the edges of ur screen when under fire. BfV the edges go white for some reason, as opposed to the blackout tunnel vision look in bf1. Just makes it look so much grittier and like ur rly in ww1

BF5 is one of the best looking games ever made. It looks better than BF1, its close, but BF5 edges by. Gameplay is definitely better in V for me as well,, along with the vehicles.

Nah, BF1 shows how decisive the attack planes and bombers could be in a battle, and encourages the opposite team to make antiair estrategies (like teamworking between fighters and AA guns).

True, that’s what I love about bf1. If your team isn’t able to pivot and focus on taking out a really good fighter pilot or take out snipers that have been wrecking your team, there is a good chance you’ll lose the game. It’s not just about blindly running to an objective and trying to kill as many people as possible. Gotta play smart and with your team!

I downloaded BF5 two weeks ago and I agree it does have its moments but it doesn’t satisfy me the same way BF1 does. Im also glad there are more people playing it these days. You can literally find a ton of servers

It's hard for me to go from Battlefield V to Battlefield 1 bc it gives a whole new control system im confused with since im used to sliding and fast crouching

brilliant vid - thanks for posting, first one i've seen on your channel and really impressed and subsribed. Very refreshing to hear an honest take on BFV without the usual obsessive complaints repeated endlessly whenever its mentioned on most channels - often by those who have several hundred hours of playtime (so they obviouslly dont disklike it they way them claim to). Your conclusions spot on though I think - BF1 is/was pure genius and still best PC game to date but BF5 is also excellent fun to play and its a real shame that development stopped after the release of the brilliant Pacific campaing.
Battlefield 5 in its current state is pretty good and solid, but battlefield 1 is just superior
I am missing a very important question, the best thing that bfv has is mobility, resupply centers and revive your fallen teammates (although the animation would change) and weapon specializations allow you to play in different ways. Point aside is the balance. BFV is not a good game but the design of the flags allows you to go different ways. BF1 is a very good game but the gameplay isn't all that good either. The sweet spot and explosive respaw take your patience away. Not to mention the excessive AA on consoles.

battlefield 5 is aparently a good shooter . but it has no ww2 feel , no battlefield feel and it has no soul . a good game some say but i was done with it after 4 weeks and went back to bf1 . trying to get the hang of bf2042 now but i wont rule out having enough of that if they dont fix it quick

I have both games, but currently and playing the heck out of BF5. Should I play some of the other as well? Plus I think they might have fixed the gun realism in BF5 because there seems to be more bullet drop.

I think the biggest quirk of BF5 is the depth of field. It’s honestly a bit distorted if you think about it compared to BF1
I've never played any battlefield game but bf1 is on sale right now and this game looks so amazing, bf5 looks good but i'm gonna buy bf1. This review helped me make that decision, great video:)
If you like multi mode then BFV is definitely better. BFV has bad press through some bullshit but that is an unfair rating because it's a very good game.
98% disagree, I’d give bf5 all points in these categories. Aside from the campaign which I don’t care for in either game, bf5 by far surpasses bf1 in all the categories you listed. Bf1 feels cartoony and bf5 is the best ww2 game I’ve ever played. Perfectly captures the guns, maps and chaos of the second world war while bf1 has horses running around the map while everyone is using fully automatic guns in 1917. Bf1 is still a good game but bf5 takes the cake when it comes to capturing what I want from a battlefield game set during the 20th century. Bf5 all day

BF5 is an unimmersive mess, yes, look at our Germans who's flag and symbols are all from the German Empire. Let's have the US Marines call each-other 'soldier' and say the most stereotypical shit ever. The running feels to fast and light, as if all of the characters weigh 20 pounds and can just glide on the floor.
Why complain about the soldiers using SMGs in BF1 when bolt-guns were still the main service weapons of countries in 1944. Hans wouldn't be running around with an StG-44 that has a holographic, he'd have a Kar98k. Young McMillan wouldn't have a Bren, he'd have a Lee-Enfield. Self-loading rifles only became standard in the mid-1950s with things like the G3 and FAL.
@@polskaoperator376 BFV BF1 movement are almost identical and maybe slightly more airy than Bf4 or 3 but have you played BF2042?? Talk about being 20 pounds and being able to bunny hop and slide everywhere like a cod game… BFV still has pretty heavy weight to it and when you hop your character actually has hard time getting back to aiming down sight.
And yeah bolt rifles were more the main service weapon but smgs and automatic guns were highly highly more common in world war 2. To the point where it makes sense to put them in the game BF1 is a strong reach. Either way respect your opinion but on the movement I just don’t see it go play a cod game or BF2042 and you’ll know what light feels like BFV is still heavy and clunky

Battlefield’s sweet spot is old, classic warfare. Battlefield 2042 just doesn’t feel the same. Also, the maps are way too vertical in 2042. It’s also not as easy to see the other players if that makes any sense… they all are too small. Not sure how to explain it but something in BF1 and BF5 let you see your enemies better and it was easier to see where they all were coming from and get more kills.

after playing BF5 for the first time and also my very first experience with the franchise, i’m glad i wasn’t the only one who seemed to have the same problems. it was very underwhelming, it didn’t feel like world war 2 it felt like a cod game. even after just watching this gameplay of BF1, it’s making me regret buying 5. is there much of a player base on BF1 nowadays?
To the first part, I don't know, in BF1 people are beaming with the mp18 trench, and the trench varient is supposed to be for close range, people beam with most things not semi-auto actually, even the gun literally called smg

1500 hours in BF1, 900 in BFV. BF1 its just the best FPS ever made....BUT BFV got better gunplay. No random bullet deviation. And got TONS of vehicles. And better sniping ( but no Martiny )
The big factor are maps: BF1 has way more good maps, and more maps in general. The atmosphere its simply amazing.
Conclussion: BF1 its a masterpiece, BFV its a really good multiplayer FPS.
The random bullet deviation was an actual thing, guns in the 1910s very often caused flyers. If I can snipe with the optical Cei Rigotti, you guys shouldn't have an issue and I'm not even good at FPS games.
Maybe I have an easier time dealing with it because I'm big into guns and it helps with immersion I dunno...

B1 is 10X times better we all know it B1 had such a good Campaign BV was kinda alright but B1 has planes flying weather and everything so we all know B1 is better.
the blending in is also an issue in apex, i think it has to do with how human eyes perceive things. and bf5 has alot of unnatural oversaturated colors. just like apex. bf1 is closer to IRL color scale (except that french map soisons) ive noticed this in several games where your enemy is directly in front but the background is so "full" that i cant see them that well.
You really gonna give customisation to BF1 when you can’t even customise your gun and gunplay is pretty bad in bf1

After playing both games for a similar number of hours, I can definitely say that I enjoyed Bf5 more. Immersion isn’t a very big factor for me since it breaks after the first 10-100 hours and when it breaks, you can definitely start seeing Bf1’s balance problems a lot more. Bf1’s guns have an extremely big difference in TTK due to large variance in firerate and damage, which is not as big of an issue in 5. Tanks are also something I love in 5. Bf1’s tanks were more like mobile spawn points with the ability to shoot whereas 5’s tanks are a lot more mobile and will need your support as much as you need their’s.

i dont like playing whit a tank and needing someone to be able to enjoy it, im a solo player and relying in other people is not a good idea, in BF1 tanks are there to support the push and thats why they are mobile spawn points, but your teamates are basically that but whitout armor

I don't really think anyone would argue with these points tbh, battlefield 5 was definitely a step backwards which could've been perfectly fixed if they kept adding content instead of dropping the game at just half of its lifetime in order to focus on making an even worse half-baked thing that took them three years to fix. And still, despite V and 2042 being playable and enjoyable nowadays, they still can't beat BF1 and 4
