This idea goes against the 2-pack, but I still think it works: Thundercracker should have been in Impactor's place. He was already doubtful of the Decepticons so it would make sense.
That would have made sense yes. It could have been done with any character who was actually a deception though.

I think the biggest plot hole in Siege is the fact that the whole conflict could've been ended far too easily.
Ultra Magnus: "Look, we have an arc. If you let us gather enough fuel, we can just leave the planet."
Megatron: "If you promise not to come back I will give it to you."
Not at ANY point was it conveyed that both sides wouldn't have agreed to this.
I think they were under the idiot impression, that both sides are actually war mongers unwilling to let the war actually end.
Optimus Prime: "We just want to leave."
Megatron: "No one leaves without my permission!"

Glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Even worse when a character shows up just to die. But we learn nothing about these characters. Kind of defeats the purpose.
Absolutely. Who was Ultra Magnus in this continuity? Dunknow he's dead. Who was Bumblebee? Dunknow he was brainwashed. Too much plot, not enough character, and no where near enough time. I appreciate the comment.

Thanks netflix for giving this trilogy series little budget so we have 6 episodes each series and making a lot of plot crammed of each other (sarcasm)
I think that was more the writers fault for not working within his constraints.

Ok that blaster wound went through the top of Brawns shoulder and out his lower back. Essentially it went through his EVERYTHING. They are not identical wounds.
And I'd say the G1 show, and Beast Wars out lived the figures by a wide margin.
@@PerspectiveEnd true. There's also the fact that that blaster wound came from Megatron in his gun mode. Regardless of the series, just about all of us would consider a blast from Megatron to instantly be far more powerful than one from Jetfire.
Okay, sorry for the super long post, but yeah, you pretty much nailed everything I found to be an issue with this latest series. Oh sure, everything looks nice (except for Megatron's hideous lips, which make me think Megs is going through a mid life crisis & had some work done on his face by Knockout & it went HORRIBLY wrong XD), but the show FAILED to make me care about anybody or what was going on. Oh sure, I know who everyone is because I've been a TF fan since the good ol days of G1, BUT the new series was unable to make me care about these new incarnations. For example, when Magnus died, instead of being heartbroken over his untimely demise, I was at best disappointed that they wasted his character potential so completely. I mean heck, watch any episode of G1 & you'll see plenty of examples of random characters who never received a focus episode but were always there as part of the cast or who joined the ranks offscreen one day without a major introduction, & yet nearly all of them remain iconic & memorable to this day simply because the writers did such a good job of making you care about them as people, or because the voice actors performances gave them so much personality and/or a unique voice, accent, or manner of speaking that made them stand out. The Siege cartoon on the other hand, doesn't do any of that, the majority of the cast have little to no personality & bland, forgettable voices that don't stick with you at all, which is a problem for any television series, not just one who's main purpose for existing is to promote interest in a toyline, especially when the target audience are older, more critical fans with higher standards than a much younger audience (not knocking younger fans or saying they have no taste, just saying they're easier to please than longtime TF toon fans or adult collectors who've been following along since the beginning). I too think I would have preferred evil & loving it Megatron, I mean yes, I don't mind his background as a working class hero who's fallen from grace to become far worse than his former oppressors, but I feel like at THIS point in his reign Megatron should be beyond self-doubt simply because of how far he's gone, & that characters like Magnus & Jetfire should have KNOWN better than to expect, well, better of him. Megatron CLEARLY believes that he and he alone knows whats best for Cybertron & that anyone who stands against him must clearly be evil & must be dealt with using extreme prejudice even if the one opposing him used to be his dearest friend, thats not the sort of person who doubts himself, thats the sort of person who doesn't doubt himself ENOUGH. The idea of Prime, Magnus, & Megs having been a band of brothers once upon a time & fellow pupils to Alpha Trion could have worked, but the way it was executed just didn't work, especially given the limited episode count & lack of any flashbacks of their past together. Also, yes, Siege Prime comes off as being too weak & inept to be the leader of the autobot resistance, he doesn't have to be absolutely perfect or invincible mind you (that would be boring), but he SHOULD be the big damn hero of the team, the one bot who can give Megatron a run for his money & send lesser cons running for the hills, the one everyone looks to for guidance instead of the one obviously everyone doubts (I assume the only reason why there aren't any power plays against Optimus is because no one else wants to take the blame for how seriously DOOMED they obviously believe themselves to be lol). I said before that the Kingdom toyline, which currently doesn't have an animated season of its own yet, is what got me back into transformers collecting, out of nostalgic love for Beast Wars, whereas I might have let the Siege toyline pass me by completely due to how bad the netflix series has proven to be thus far if not for online reviewers like you who stood up for their quality despite their crappy animated counterparts tainting their characters...Netflix seems to have bad luck with animated reboots of shows based off a toyline these days, makes ya wonder why toy companies keep trusting them with their intellectual properties.
P.S. sorry to go off topic, & no offense to autobot Megatron fans, but I personally CANNOT stand that concept (its one of the reasons why I lost interest in collecting the IDW comics), its one thing for Shattered Glass Megatron to be a benevolent alternate reality counterpart to the wicked Megs we know & love, but I just can't take the notion of a brutal warlord like Megatron "redeeming himself" & going good seriously after he spent millions of years pillaging & plundering his way across Cybertron & the universe at large in the name of tyranny & megalomania. I do believe in second chances, I do believe in redemption, BUT I also believe there are limits to how much evil one can do before the very notion of redemption becomes a pipe dream. Someone with Megatron's bodycount can't just decide "I don't wanna be evil anymore," slap an autobot symbol on his chest, & avoid life imprisonment or execution for crimes against all sentient life.
Damn you weren't kidding. I looked at the unextended version and thought it didn't look too long. Then I opened it.
I think they trust Netflix with it not because they have a proven track record, but because they are cheap.
And I think while the switch to Good was Abrupt and poorly handled for Megatron in the IDW comic, after it was done they did a good job convincing you that he finally realized how truly rancid he let the movement and his actions become, and had him deal with a crushing realization, that not only did he ruin his own revolution, and legacy, but he created monsters and problems that would continue actively scaring the universe for generations to come.
There's even a bit at the end where he creates the Decepticons again, but this time he wanted to do it right, and not let the mistakes of the past happen again.
It's really well handled AFTER the start.

Can't tell if you're saying that because you dislike Unicron Trilogy and Beast Wars or not.
Yeah Roosterteeth, the creators of the show, are know to screw up a lot of their good shows like Red vs blue, and Rwby.
Well actually Roosterteeth are just the Producers, what ever that means. The Writer of the show is FJ Desanto who wrote the PWT long before RTs involvement, and the Animation is done by the same company that did TF Prime's animation a decade ago, plus the Voice Acting is provided by yet a third company.
I have no clue what Roosterteeth does in their producer roll, as it seems to actually be nothing, but it's fair to say that it's other peoples fault way more than it is theirs.
No worries, I'll just go back to the old Beast Wars along with the Unicron Trilogy (only Armada and Cybertron) since Siege frustrates me.
Yeah that sounds like the correct decision, and I love how Energon is like this black hole in the community that everyone just pretends doesn't exist.

I think they could've just had a slideshow of the toys, since I bought WFC toys based on the versions of those characters from the Sunbow cartoon.

Yeah, that's really what you have to do, but Hasbro needs to make a show that will generate new fans. Not just endlessly rely on old ones.
I really hate the war for cybertron trilogy. It’s just Terrible as the voices are shit, the designs are reuse model designs from their toys and chose not to give them unique design, example: chromia in the show has kibble in the back of her torso and around her calves like her toy. While in the transformers prime, arcee had no kibble to n the back like her toys.
I agree ultracarterzilla, WFC trilogy is shit and terrible and is it just me or is it that the people behind the WFC trilogy didn’t watch transformers prime before WFC trilogy happen. Transformers prime had good character development, great stories, better action, better voice acting, and better plots.
Well they were trying to Directly Emulate the toys in this series so I can't blame them for that, though I do think the show sucked in general still.

Barring Wasp & Elita none of the Cons in Animated were sympathetic, morally grey or decent at all. They were evil, but, each had a set of quirks which distinguished them from one another.
Agreed. Its the worst commercial of all time, because its a six hour commercial for product they stopped selling months ago. And this is just going to continue. So frustrating.

@@PerspectiveEnd nope, totally serious. I get upset about it every time I try to find Jetfire and Omega Supreme for reasonable prices online. It was also super boring. You know why I find robots vs robots on Cybertron boring? They have no day to day lives. I have no investment in what they are doing. They have no apparent culture. No music. No art. No recreational activities. They are not relatable. I either want WEIRD season 3 sci-fi or the Autobots working with humans so I have some thing Earth-related I can get on board with. I don't have a lot in common, on a personal level, with transforming robots.
@@JamesCurtisOKC If you want to see the Transformers day lives, then you should read the More than Meet The Eye IDW comic. It really fleshes out their lives and who they are as people.
While also not being set on Earth. It shows what Cybertronian culture is like.

Spot on video! And yeah, they even screwed up Starscream x Jetfire. And also Starscream's interactions with Megatron are weirdly impersonal, so there's also no Megatron x Starscream potential. Like, the trope is called "enemies to lovers", not "impersonal coworkers to lovers."
I think that kind of sums up the overall problem, which you mentioned: there are almost no personal interactions. Of any kind. It's just a bullet list of "things the writer thought would look cool" with no connective tissue. The most Siege scene of all is Ultra Magnus in that cloak. It makes NO sense, it does NOTHING to hide his form. It would only work as a comedy beat. But because the writer thought, "Wow, wouldn't it be cool to have UM in a cloak dramatically revealing himself" there it is, played completely straight.
Yeah I wasn't exactly gunning for those romances my self I was just saying you gotta give people something to latch onto, and they had nothing, and a relationship of any type would have filled that gap.
Yeah The cloak scene is dumb, not the least reason of which being "THEY HAVE FABRIC ON CYBERTRON!"
Well… a plot centered story can work just fine but there needs to be an actual plot - one thing Seige has an issue with is too many plot points (Megatron’s decent into the cruel tyrant, Taking the Allspark off of Earth, Jetfire’s betrayal, Starscream’s rise to Megatron’s right hand man, The attempt to rewrite the Autobots, trying to leave Cybertron on the Ark, Optimus learning to be a leader, etc) now most of that would be fine… with some writers that know more then the G1 cartoon and the Movies but also that really only works for a 25-52 episode series. The series isn’t horrible… but it’s certainly not good either.
I'd say that a 52 episode serries crammed down into 6 episodes would by it's very nature have to suck no matter what.

I think Springer was one of the impaled Autobots on Skytread and Spinisters kill count, which I think is a pretty dumb way to advertise his toy
If anyone even notices it at all. Did you notice in the scene before, for what ever reason, SkyTread is a Giant? It's hard to tell, because he looks like he's closer to camera, but his arm goes behind Spinister, and in that shot you can see his arm is as big as all of Spinister.
10:16 to be fair, that was supposed to be mirages thing, but they gave it to hound first in g1 and they didn’t want to have duplicate powers so they just gave mirage invisibility, so mirage doing this is actually a good thing because it’s HIS thing, hound is the one who stole it

The marketing of WFC Trilogy was so Awful, it's supposed to be hyped as characters who are in the war, but they're just there to window dress saying "Woah, it's that blue and white robot who turns into a racecar" or "OMP, it's those random decepticons who barely have screen time". If it was focusing on the characters, it would've been like a 7/10 for me, but.. stories in the Transformers universe are being hammered by many people's throats by Hasbro's evil executives just to milk the Transformers franchise to make more money. The creators would be like " Yo, we can't have a War For Cybertron movie, because people aren't going to see it in theaters, so let's just let Netflix make it a TV show and have only 6 episodes to pander to g1 fans to get money from those Netflix subscribers". The trilogy has been rushed since episode one till episode 20. We don't need slow dialogue to pad out the runtime. Another thing that's rushed is the voice acting. Most of the actors suck like even my favorite anime voice actor Keith Silverstein is wasted. Most of the actors lack the energy and due to the nonexistent writing, the acting is all over the place. Overall, The Trilogy got even worse when watching it again on Netflix and it felt like a waste of time. I give it a 4/10 instead of a 6/10. Earthspark has originality and clever dialogue and has a great connection of G1 rather than pandering. The acting in Earthspark is really good, even the weakest voice is better than Optimus Prime's voice in WFC. If a show by NICKELODEON by all companies is doing better than a streaming service, something is absolutely wrong. I'm glad Netflix cancelled the series and I don't want it to be greenlit ever again..
I totally agree they botched the hell out of it, and made it so much more boring than it should have been.
Focusing on character is the way you do marketing, not by just cramming it with plots.
0:15 and its funny how many characters were not available for decades(arcee/unicron) or some that have been important and still don't exist (lets say many wfc and foc game characters for example) characters from the movies, characters form the shows, which is very interesting
also, don't worry, i STILL see some siege figures on shelves, specially springer for some weird reason(although the price doesn't help either, here they are quite expensive)

I can understand dissliking some of characters aka (Niko, Wheeljack) but even do Im not the biggest fan of TFPat least we can agree(or at least I hope we can) , it is better them most of Japanize G1 continuetion and most of Unicron TRILOGY put together (at least in my opinion). Well Miko and Wheeljack are absolutely HORRENDOUS. Two of the most Insufferable characters I've ever had the displeasure of watching, but I got more reasons.
I plan to make a video about it one day. But I guess, a preview would be that when the show isn't being Obnoxious, it's being boring.

I think agree with just about every single thing you said in this. Like, I recall for some reason wanting a Red Alert figure after watching Siege, but, couldn't find him anywhere at all. It's super frustrating!

I may be late, but I have this to say. Great video on Netflix series man. At first, I like it, but over time, I eventually dislike it, now I consider Netflix's WFC series the worst TF show I've watched and the worst cartoon show in my opinion. I don't really a lot of positive things to say about, just my dislikes. What with the poor dialogues, story being rushed, lack of character development/personality, poor voice acting and my biggest issue with it is that the show tried so hard to be dark and gritty to the point I don't even care for the characters, not everyone needs to be a tough guy. I much prefer Bumblebee being a light-hearted and kid appeal character. One of the reasons why I really love the transformers franchise is that every characters has their own/different unique personalities. Optimus Prime is a noble and inspiring leader, Bumblebee is scout who acts like a little brother and so desperate to be accepted, Ratchet is a medic who dislikes violence, Ironhide is a tough and old soldier, Jazz is a cool bot who adores music and earth culture, Arcee is a deadly warrior, hunter, but still kind, and more characters with unique personalities. I don't mind if anyone likes this series since everyone
has an opinion, I respect that, but when some people think that making a show that is dark and mature automatically means it is great, but it's not. What makes a good content is not the tone, but the writing and direction quality. That's all I have to say. It's just my opinion on this series. Thanks for this video man. 👍
Yeah, it's really annoying to talk with people about it when they think being dark is an Inherently positive quality. A dark show doesn't make it good, it makes it dark, and it's up to the show maker to make being dark, good.
I'm not sure how you feel about previous IDW storylines and there were a ton of stories and original characters but I honestly wish Hasbro/Takara would start making animated films or story arcs from past comics such as lost light, Autocracy, MTMTE, Dark cybertron, the wreckers trilogy yes I know you hate the wreckers lol but if they changed them to where they're actually strategic and smart about their methods it'd be better.
Look how DC comics is doing animations based on previous and current stories. IDW and Hasbro need to collaborate because I feel that'll really give opportunity for character development, story and gritty action especially if you bring in IDW writers. But that's just an idea because I really want a better series than what they gave us on Netflix.
I loved IDWs OG Continuity. The first half about the war on Earth was ROUGH but everything after or set before was pure gold.
And I totally agree, that's something that would be great to see them make a show out of.
I mean to be fair its probably the most realistic fight scenes not a lot of real world gun fights are gonna involve someone charging in with a knife while the enemy is safely behind cover
Beast Wars had a lot of fight scenes from behind cover, and they were better handled. I'm not saying that this kind of action can't be good, I'm saying it wasn't done well here.

The other thing that annoyed me is I feel this series is inaccessible to people who aren't already TF fans. They don't introduce half the characters properly, they don't explain why the war started (blink and you will miss the inference that there was a caste system like IDW), and they don't even really explain what the Matrix of Leadership is. It's so stupid. This is on Netflix, it would have been the perfect opportunity to get new people on board.
Oh absolutely. The serries was set up in a way that you needed to be Eminently familiar with the franchise to understand it, but it was set up for fans to enjoy. They appeased no one with this.

I loved the designs of the trilogy however I didn’t like the voices and personalities for some, for instance I didn’t like the moppy needing of prime and his voice just didn’t fit him well

It's certainly not the worst TF show ever. That title goes to Cyberverse for me. While Siege left a lot to be desired, at least it's a commercial for great toys. Cyberverse is an awful show advertising mediocre or garbage toys. At least in my opinion.
I've heard that Cyberverse gets good in the second season, but the first one is pretty bat, I think I'm 2 episodes from finishing the first one, but I would say that while I agree that sucks, this is SoOOOOO much worse after Earthrise.
Like ER is just Depressingly AWFUL.

Tbh I love the show, it’s on par with beast wars (in a way) and I even loved the characters, but hey thats just me

I enjoyed how it wasn’t as black and white with the good guys and bad guys and the setting was nice. Looking forward to the kingdom cartoon also.
@@Milliethepumpkin I'd say it had good concepts but terrible execution. And I'm the exact opposite on the Designs looking like the toys. I think the shows should always look better than the toys so future releases like Masterpieces have something to strive to perfect.
Look at Beast Wars, there isn't much rush to make things past the beginning of the Transmetals in the Masterpiece line because the toys were basically already exactly the show models.

Man that Hurts, I put a lot of effort into that one.
I think Transformers fans are 2nd only to StarWars fans for how toxic they are. No matter what they do it's never good enough, figures are too small, the story for kids isn't exactly how each individual adult wants it, too much clear plastic. And for the love of god stop with the comparisons and "homage" to G1. They came out almost 40 years ago and are ugly and stupid as hell looking now days. Its fine to love them and what not , hell i have a G1 Devastator but the figures we get today are 10 fold superior and are just incredible, especially the Studio Series! The amount of detail and weapon storage among other things they manage to do while paying respect to the past is unreal especially in the Dulux and Voyager classes. We should be over the moon with what we can get and encourage new ideas and designs.

Yes I'm also very critical of the toys, but not because they aren't G1 enough or something like that. I'm actually very happy to see new designs.
I don't want to go back to the old days where toys were worse, but I do see when Hasbro decided they could be cheap with this figure. Just look at the difference between Deluxe Siege Ironhide, and Deluxe Legacy Wildrider.
Siege Ironhide was cheaper at the time, is bigger, has more articulation, and a more fun transformation. It's better in all ways when compared to the Legacy Wildrider.
