Fran Meneses This video hit the spot… I like the chill pace, I was running around all day. I listen to jazz to chill, and watching this is very nice. Also, have you ever seen live jazz? One of my favorite things to do.
Llego tarde, parece que ya los subieron ;) Gracias por compartir tanto y hacerme sentir que mis miedos son naturales y a muchas personas nos asaltan. Ojalá disfruten muchísimo de Tokio, un abrazo inmenso!
Okay Fran but how many of those illustrators launched their own online shop, built from the ground up? Hmmmmm? You have done a lot! How many of them flawlessly hand picked, washed and then screen printed BY HAND T-shirt’s and tote bags? Hmmmm? You deserve ALL THE TOKYO TRIPS!
I've always loved your music choice of slower jazz, it's indicative how much time is invested in creating a work of art and the thoughtful process of decision making that is essential. The fast electronic music on some vlogs use is so off-putting I don't watch. I to struggle with environments over drawing characters and thus am so glad you uploaded this video. The fear of failing to draw something that is a struggle can overwhelm one for sometime and the resulting inner dialog reflecting the fear. So I appreciate you posting this. Happy New Year to you Fran and Ed!
As someone who is still so new to drawing, it makes me feel so much calmer and less anxious to see you draw and paint in real time. It’s like breaking down your steps and taking your time, rather than just seeing the finished piece makes me feel like I can get there too! Have the best time in Tokyo! ❤️
Oh my God, i love this painting sooooo much ! Even if you aren't at ease drawing buildings, this painting is a success ! Very poetic and vintage at the same time !
I loooove the real time painting/drawing/living videos. It’s so interesting to watch but also very relaxing. Your videos are like a big hug (like a Gilmore Girls episode)
Why would you feel bad for not printing new book, while you've printed like hundreds t-shirts one by one, while putting all that effort to get them second hand, opened new online shop, did the website by yourself, filmed dozens of videos and plenty of other amazing things?! Like Instagram comics and gifs or that poster with eyes? I thought your 2019 was really thriving and successful. :0
Hi Fran, watching you reference a B&W photo for your drawing made me think it would be cool if you painted one of Ed's photos in B&W/grays which would combine your style and his. Your painting is incredible and your skill is evident, but most important is your clear illustration 'voice' - the feel and internal communication your work accomplishes - which is yours and irreplaceable. Practice is learning and is the only path to success. We all appreciate seeing you go through that so we don't have false expectations of our own process and capabilities, so thank you for your candid bravery.
I LOVE your city illustration! I find architecture fascinating when I travel, and I love the vibe of this illustration. I feel like I’m there and can hear the city sounds. I love the colour palette too, it looks so awesome! 💕
But I loved your work from this year, the studies make me smile so much. I wish I could see them in person. Don’t push yourself down, those are illustrations too, and to be honest I value them probably more than some finished works from illustrators/artists. They show so much, including process, artists thoughts/focus, etc. I could ramble forever, essentially please continue your sketches
Fran why are you so beautiful ❤️❤️ i love your eyes and just who you are. You always motivated me to go and paint something on my sketchbook book, thank you😘❤️
I love the slow paced step by step painting videos! I enjoy watching other people’s processes, and it’s also really calming. I watch vlogs while I drink my morning coffee and yours are always my favorite!
love your work sm 😭 as someone who also struggles with imposter syndrome, it's comforting to hear about your struggles with it as well 💕 youre a huge inspiration to me and i love being able to sit and draw along with you! 💙💛❤
The finished illustration is beautiful! Well done! 👏👏👏 This was one of my favorite of your vlogs. I love the slow pace of seeing you in your art process. Your year of sketches and illustration studies were SO WORTH IT! I'm also an artist...of mixed media...oil painting with accented use of metal leaf like gold, copper, silver and variegated designs. 2020 is going to be my personal year of study and artistic experimentation! And your vlog today has very much encouraged me as I embark on this path. Thank you, Fran!!! You're such a lovely human! 💗💗💗 Have fun in Tokyo!
I know that feeling of dread when you see what others have achieved...Urgh . But I think baby Fran or even London Fran would be super insanely impressed and in awe of what you achieved this year. Have a wonderful time in Tokyo.
Sometimes if we´re in a time where we work on the roots we forget that the results just don´t show right away. It´s important to take the time to work on the root problems. When the work is done we will be able to step outside and produce things that radiate with knowlegde.
I love how you film it’s very organic and relaxing. I like the mixture of background noise and music, random question tho? Do you ever find it tedious moving the camera around for different angles and such? Just curious and I love the city illustration! Enjoy Tokyo!
This illustration is so nice! I absolutely love it! Wish I had even half your talent.... such a relaxing video and the illustration is also so relaxing to look at.
Usually, when people make a lot of finished pieces they keep inside of their comfort zone. Of course the process is ’quicker’ and ’easier’ if you make art that you’re used to. When you’re learning new things and ways, that’s when it gets harder to do finished pieces. Don’t beat yourself up on that you didn’t do as much as maybe some people did. It’s not your art they are making. You’re taking the time to learn and that’s really awesome ! And also, you’re still making art. Doesn’t matter what kind and how finished or ’instagram worthy’ it is but the most important thing is that you’re still making something ! And even better if you’re learning from it. Loved this honest but chill vlog. And I really like your art style ! The colors are so relaxing and soothing.
Yes to being nicer to yourself, good advice for us all. Also, your feelings are valid, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed or imposter syndrome. The catch is to not let it dominate or overcome you. Giant hugs. Enjoy the trip!
Yes, I love these "slow paced calm" videos. I prefer watching drawing and painting in real time. I especially enjoyed this vlog! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into it. Don't forget, "today is the only day" so dont worry, just be happy, you are amazing
Fran... Please don't feel pressured to impress us... I for one am already impressed and that's why I subscribed. Your art is seriously amazing to me. ❤ Happy 2020!
Fran don’t be so hard on yourself you have launched your own website/brand. Not too many if any of them can say they also did that. Your drawings are so pretty and raw just like you. Love yourself, be proud of yourself. We all are 🥰
I enjoy all of the videos that you post but I personally LOVE these slower paced videos. Also it's so nice to watch you paint 💕 *Edit: I just finished the video and 1. Fran you absolutely deserve a trip to Tokyo I'm so happy that you and Ed get to go again. 2. All of the studies that you did this year are definitely an accomplishment, you're constantly growing instead of becoming stagnant. 3. The illustration came out so beautiful!!
I felt the same about all those end of the year art stuff. I felt like I didn't progress enough, but then I also just got into digital art last year so I know I shouldn't be too hard on myself. I know what I was doing "wrong" last year and this year I'm going to try to not focus too much on that art wise. I started a new digital piece more true to my art style before new years and I'm excited to get it done and put it up as my first piece of art for 2020. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Fran - I just love the illustration! It's wonderful. I know you say you hate drawing landscapes and houses, and that you are bad at it but I just love what I've seen of your landscape drawings - I think they are amazing. They really touch something in me. I hope to see more of them
yahooooooo LONG VIDEO!!!! I love when you do long ones. AND it didn't disappoint - except when I finished it and then was sad it was over. When I found your channel a year ago or something like that I binge watched it and so now to just have ONE video to watch at a time feels like not enough. But now I go back sometimes and watch videos I've already watched and try to pick up tips for my own videos (as far as shots, editing, the flow, etc.). AND you may not have done a book but you did a WHOLE COLLECTION of clothes this year woman! Love your work Fran!
I saw those "my best illustrations/paintings" on Instagram, too, and struggled to find anything I felt was good enough to share. But then I think back to the first day I drew anything as an adult -- that was only back in April 2019. And I drew here and there throughout the year, most notably every day for Inktober. I never would've considered picking up a pencil if I hadn't been watching your videos. So all your sketches and studies of the past year have been more influential than you may realize. Anyhoo, that's all. All the best to you in 2020.
I wish i could hit a thousand times the like button. I’m so grateful i’ve discovered you two y and half ago, Thank you thank you for being that honest, that inspiring, that creative etc etc
thank you for your vulnerability about the doubts and anxieties as an artist. your sincerity is so inspiring, and your art is simply beautiful. have a lovely trip to tokyo! 💕
I gotta say, it is refreshing to see that you are so open and honest on your vlogs. You are so loved and supported on here, so no worries at all. You’re a great artist and great human being. Just saying. :-) ps.... your illustration turned out wonderfully! Go with it Girl! Can’t wait to see more.
Fran, you have so much wisdom! “I can’t bear the idea of failing...time to face my fears...whatever it is will be” I need to learn to do the same. ❤️💪 Also that blue sweater is my DREAM SWEATER😭❣️
Fran, it makes me so sad to hear you feeling bad about not doing a lot of illustrating this year. I have seen so much growth in you as an illustrator this year and as a human being. What you do in your shop with the T-shirts is amazing! I’ve never seen anyone do that before and I wish more clothing companies would. You’re an amazing person and deserve every ounce of success. May 2020 bring even more your and Ed’s way! Love you!!!💕💕💕
What do i like in terms of videos??? Everything you do is great!!! I feel like you have a great mix of painting, working, home life, NYC, etc. I wouldn't hate seeing more of the cats though. I love those cats!
I’ve already said this before but the slow placed bits bring so much peace into my life. I get to slow down with you and fall in love with art and the creation of art all over again. We artists get to have this headspace of “it takes time” and being okay with it is a struggle sometimes! Your videos get me re present to that love.
love this so much Fran! thank you for keeping us inspired and giving us glimpses into your life. you inspire me to create everytime i watch your videos and you're also so reassuring when it comes to fears we face as artists. Thank yo again for your work and content.
Hello, I feel exactly the same. I draw for twenty years now and I’ve never been able to show my work. I’m 37 and I know I have to do it but the fact that I have nothing to say on my drawings and paintings and the idea to be judged, frightening me. You’re doing great to show yourself to the world 👍🙂
I really like how you are open and say what you are feeling. Showing vulnerability and trying to overcome your fears are great qualities! You go girl! Happy new year Fran!!!
not only do i enjoy watching you make art, fran, but the video clips outside of the studio and your flat is also inspirational! it lets me know that there's more to share and be appreciative of these things, and that's not only reflective in your artwork. listening and watching your process makes me want to make art as i watch your videos. happy new year!! :) enjoy your time in tokyo!!!!
Hey Fran I enjoy every video that you make. You doing a very good job! I have one tip for your hair dying „problem“. I had all the bright color in the past too and know the issue with the durability of these colors. The color DIRECTIONS is a direct hair color and does not use ammonia. Your hair will not be damaged by it. You can apply this color pure, for an intensive result or you can add a little bit of the color to your hair treatment to refresh your hair color. If you use the conditioner with the color once a week, the luminosity of your hair color will be preserved for a long time. Since your hair is very thick and long, you‘ll need at least 3 mugs of the color for pure application (first, new application). Let it set for at least 30 minutes. The longer the better. Wrap some foil around your head to prevent the color from drying. Or ware a shower cap. These are reusable. And please always ware gloves otherwise you‘ll have Pink hands next time. I know that you are a busy women and that it is not easy to put all the stuff that you want to do in one day. Here is what I am doing. I treat my hair during the cleansing sessions in my flat. With that I will have nice hair and a clean flat. Thanks and best regards Janine
Awesome colors Fran! You inspire me so much, the printing on second hand t-shirts that you did with We Are Nice Humans really struck me and has stayed with me this year. It’s made me think about creating in a whole new way. Anyways thanks for putting yourself out there, I do appreciate it :) Also, I listen to your’s and Ed’s podcast to improve my español. Gracias!!
Hola Fran! I love this video style - so calming!! I watched it while my toddler napped and sighed a big sigh of relaxation. Love the final illustration too! I struggle with drawing static things like buildings and plants as there’s no jeopardy - drawing a person from life is a race against time that I find much more exciting! However you have inspired me to try - I will attempt some buildings like you now! Hope Tokyo is amazing - went there on my honeymoon and adore it. X
TBH we love whatever you make! Not blindly but it is your style that we like! I am talking about both video editing and illustrations! I follow you for a while now and you are doing so great!! Lots of love s2
Today I watched this video & did my nails (#selfcare) and I'm excited to see your Tokyo adventures & catch up with you Fran! That illustration was lovely, btw. For a big city/architectural/building based piece, it was so calm and cozy looking, very serene. 🌸🏢☀️
You are a beautiful person Fran and you totally deserve time away. I also felt faced with a lot of insecurities this new year and thank you for sharing yours xx
Just started following you a month or so ago and have been catching up on all the missed vLogs! You’ll have so much (more fun) with the flip screen camera and can’t wait to see the vids from Japan. Safe trip!
I really love your work, and adore your videos. I'm an artist too, and love to work while watching. It's like I'm painting with a friend. Thank you for that.
Fran! Thank you for the brilliant idea of painting a cup as secret Santa gift! I am going to do the same thing but for my clients as welcome gift when they book their wedding photography service with me! I am so excited! I hope you a best 2020 and looking forward to seeing more your artwork!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Todo toma tiempo, Fran. Tu mereces TODO que Dios te ha permitido vivir y experimentar. Be proud of the small steps that lead to the Big ones. Eres digna por el esfuerzo que haz demonstrado en todo este tiempo that I follow you. Haz crecido grandemente en tu estilo come ilustradora (is that even a word?!)
This is my favourite video at the moment, i love your creations and I’m absolutely in LOVE with the result of your painting at the end there! I know I’m late to this vid but i love it a lot, good job Fran!
Mis amados nerds, en esta oportunidad no pudimos subir subtitulos en español, alguien podria escribirlos? Muchisimas graciaaaaas :.... )

Me encanto el video y la illistracion...hermosa. Disfruta tu viaje. Tu te lo mereces.

I'm soooo agree
Came here to say this 💜
Fran: Do you guys enjoy these slow-paced calmed videos?
Everyone: HELL TO THE YES!
That's why I'm here... And for Fran....and for adorable drawings 😆🥰
Does anyone know where she gets the music? :) because i also love it haha
I love hearing Ed explain/ summarize books lol its oddly relaxing.
As someone who is still so new to drawing, it makes me feel so much calmer and less anxious to see you draw and paint in real time. It’s like breaking down your steps and taking your time, rather than just seeing the finished piece makes me feel like I can get there too! Have the best time in Tokyo! ❤️
Watching your process in "real-time" (not super sped up) was really helpful. Thank you!
Love watching your vlogging but I have missed your more process type videos! A lovely peaceful time while I also try my hand at creating in my space.
Oh my God, i love this painting sooooo much ! Even if you aren't at ease drawing buildings, this painting is a success ! Very poetic and vintage at the same time !
I loved this video, calm, slowly, creative, with Ed :) Love from Paris France :)
Your drawing came out amazing! I think it would look really nice as a print. I hope you’re enjoying your Tokyo trip! 😽
I loooove the real time painting/drawing/living videos. It’s so interesting to watch but also very relaxing. Your videos are like a big hug (like a Gilmore Girls episode)

agreeeeeeeeee
Hi Fran, watching you reference a B&W photo for your drawing made me think it would be cool if you painted one of Ed's photos in B&W/grays which would combine your style and his. Your painting is incredible and your skill is evident, but most important is your clear illustration 'voice' - the feel and internal communication your work accomplishes - which is yours and irreplaceable. Practice is learning and is the only path to success. We all appreciate seeing you go through that so we don't have false expectations of our own process and capabilities, so thank you for your candid bravery.
The final illustration turned out amazing! Thank you for sharing your process & this amazing vlog :) 👍
I LOVE your city illustration! I find architecture fascinating when I travel, and I love the vibe of this illustration. I feel like I’m there and can hear the city sounds. I love the colour palette too, it looks so awesome! 💕
The end result of the painting looks great!

These kinds of videos feel like the best slice-of-life anime. Thanks so much for taking us along with you in your everyday life!

Have fun in Tokyo!
Love your videos. They are SO calming, relaxing and like a pause from stressful, anxious times of life. Also arts and cats ~ amazing! 😻
I know that feeling of dread when you see what others have achieved...Urgh . But I think baby Fran or even London Fran would be super insanely impressed and in awe of what you achieved this year. Have a wonderful time in Tokyo.
I enjoy the calm slowed paced videos. Def noticed an increase in the quality of the video, very sharp and clear.
I love how calm your vlogs are. They're very soothing to watch :)
I love watching you draw and paint with music like this jazzy calming music:)! You’re awesome Fran!
I LOVE THIS! Slow paced and calm! And great music! I was practicing drawing/painting and journaling with this video on and it was perfect

Love seeing the steps in the "slow" painting process - love your videos! And you totally deserve the trip to Japan! ❤
It's so nice that Ed films you sometimes ! Such nice shots
I love the music and the editing of your videos. I love how calm they are because I usually eat my breakfast while I watch ❤️
The work turned out so nicely!🙌🏽 Exciting to go to Tokyo - you definitely deserve it!👍🏽👍🏽
I love how you film it’s very organic and relaxing. I like the mixture of background noise and music, random question tho? Do you ever find it tedious moving the camera around for different angles and such? Just curious and I love the city illustration! Enjoy Tokyo!
Fran: do you like these calm, peaceful vids?
Me: yeah
Me a moment later, hearing Karolina's voice in the background: *scREAMS*
ArborParva me too!
Also your painting came out beautiful,I really love his expression, this scene feels very *ghibli*
your vlogs are always so soothing in some way
I love the colours you chose for that drawing! Great job!
I enjoy these videos and I missed watching you draw! Would love to see more paintings and procreate drawings!
This illustration is so nice! I absolutely love it! Wish I had even half your talent.... such a relaxing video and the illustration is also so relaxing to look at.
The overall color tone is very pretty.
It looks simple, but the way it shows a sense of stability while having unity is very surprising.
fabulous!

the painting looks so so good !! reminds me of the rhapsody in blue section in fantasia :^) really truly wonderful
Anyways thanks for putting yourself out there, I do appreciate it :)
Also, I listen to your’s and Ed’s podcast to improve my español. Gracias!!
I love your videos where you paint. Your calm and positivity reminds me of Bob Ross. 💕💕
Just started following you a month or so ago and have been catching up on all the missed vLogs! You’ll have so much (more fun) with the flip screen camera and can’t wait to see the vids from Japan. Safe trip!
