Goood moorning Kurt. Wanted to let you know ive spent past week and a half re-watching your Te Araroa video's and as previous thoroughly enjoyed every moment of you and Richy and then Barb fulfill your dream. Stunning my friend , the determination and stamina to keep going to the end . I could see that you were getting very tired towards the end but you kept going. Well done, I take my hat off to you. Thanks so much for those kind words, Steve! Wow, they really mean a lot to me. I've been enjoying rewatching the videos as I write my book and so many times I shake my head at some of the situations we found ourselves in. What a crazy but thrilling experience! Thanks for taking the time to watch again and thanks for taking the time to write. It's always so good to hear from people who enjoyed the videos. Cheers!
Hi Kurt, thanks for all your hard work filming and editing as I know what is involved, it has been great watching You and Richie tackle this epic journey and thanks for all the great information that may help others an will help myself as I'm starting the TA in mid October going SOBO as well, can't wait to get on Trail. Again thanks for all your time an efforts putting all this together the Fun and Laughs an look forward to any future videos , Cheers
You are truly the gift that keeps on giving. So much enjoyment you provided this past summer. Will be re watching this winter as I do my treadmill walks haha x thanks Kurt
Some of those estuary (water) crossings are tonsil tickling eh. Some of this stuff is vertigo challenging, and goat terrain. Of note ... your %age dance/song became a lesser chant, but nevertheless as relevant of a reminder of what you achieved, but even more rewarding, as time went by, time and distance was becoming less for you. Even though you celebrated your accomplishment of what was achieved, you quietly acknowledged there was less to be achieved. Everytime you now have a Chocolate Mud Cake ... be grateful you never had too much mud to eat! In the words of one of our past bestie TA friends (Sandro from Switzerland 2016/17) "Slow but steady" got you there ... and lots of fortitude, guts, determination, spirit, and whatever your purpose was from the outset. I know it's a cliché, but your journey - was as important as your destination. Both you achieved with wonderful people behind you, beside you, but the most important person though - to achieving whatever you set out to achieve was "ME!" (yourself) I'm sure for those planning their TA, and have been following you, they will find inspiration in your montages. Your story! Your TA! 👍👌
Thanks again so much, Rob. I certainly agree that the journey was as important as the destination. I was initially surprised that I didn't put arriving at Bluff as the no. 1 moment. But as I thought about it, while it was a great experience, there were moments in the journey that I will remember first before that one. having said that, Richie and I started talking about Bluff in Hamilton!! 🤣
Thanks so much for sharing your journey with us, appreciate the work that would have been How do you do that cool yellow track across the satalite imagery?
Wow those graphics were very clever. Thanks for taking us along for the journey, Kurt. Especially interested in the Bay of Islands section of Northland where I was raised but left 50 years ago this month to live in Australia. Once again thanks for the videos. Hilarious, Richie’s reaction to the poor little spiders 😂
I don't know where those spiders came from but I'm sure they were more scared of Richie's reactions than we were of them crawling up our legs. Thanks so much for joining us along the way.
Love your ta videos, i will be doing walk 25/26 and i want to vlog like you have, i was wondering which editing app you use please and also with your go pro 9 how did you manage to zoom in and out whilst in recording mode or where those shots taken with phone? Thanks look foward to reply and keep up the good work
Thanks for that. I loved doing the vlog on my TA. Gave me something to do in the evenings, if nothing else. I used LumaFusion on my iPhone. It's a relatively inexpensive app that has so much power! I did the zooming in the editing process rather than try to mess around with while videoing with the GoPro. To me, that's the most disappointing feature of the GoPro, but it's designed as an action camera so the zoom function is going to be clunky, and detail will drop out as you zoom in.
Awesome. Thanks so much for your excellent analysis and descriptions of the TA. God Bless you and your household xx.
Thank you so much!
Must have been a big thrill to re-live these moments! Certainly highlights such an epic journey - thanks for taking us with you!
I really enjoyed going back through all the videos! Thanks for joining in
Wow! Your whole journey was such a hugely entertaining and inspirational gift to us all. Definitely worth re-watching at least one more time.

You're so welcome. Thanks for being a part of our experience. This October! Wow...it's getting closer, aye! I hope you have an awesome time as well!
You were all very fortunate to meet and have such great friendships on the TA. Thank you for inspiring us all to do similar GREAT things 💪
That is exactly right! While I initially planned on hiking solo, I'm so glad I experienced the TA with such great friends I met along the way
Glad to be a part of your journey!
Geo, Annie, Maya and (of course) Pakkin!!
ANNIE!! That last dinner was the most amazing way to end the trail. Thank you again SO MUCH for being such a special part of the Trail
Thanks for all the vicarious memories Kurt, it's been a great journey following your TA adventure
My pleasure!
You are truly the gift that keeps on giving. So much enjoyment you provided this past summer. Will be re watching this winter as I do my treadmill walks haha x thanks Kurt
Oh, thank you so much! I feel honoured that so many people joined us on this journey. Thank you for being a part of that.
I love the use of Relive. It’s a great way of seeing the route
Yeah, I love it. I had the idea of doing a Relive for each day on the TA, but you had to be connected to the internet for that.

How do you do that cool yellow track across the satalite imagery?
That yellow track is done through an app called Relive.
I love the Relive app. Wonderful videos Kurt. Thank you so much for taking where I am extremely unlikely to go. Stunning scenery and raw reality. 😊
Thanks for coming along!
