Mōrena Kurt. I really do, and have appreciated your putting your videos together. More importantly, telling us your story and your preparedness to share it. They're an absolute joy. Any food is great when you're hungry eh. One of the things we've appreciated of TAs over the 10 seasons we've been Kaitiaki - they have a wonderful hearty appetite. Feeding TAs is always a pleasure! TAs we've met over the years have been such wonderful people! "Slow but steady" ... It's great recognising all the places. Thank you for your wonderful editing. Some jokes are better left unsaid, or never repeated ... but then, others simply become WONDERFUL MEMORIES 😊
22.53 Viewer Cindy had a bigger pack than you! Bet she was in Southland Tramping Club, eh? 23:18 The Worst day! The last day of the section to Lake Hawea. Those steep outwardly sloping river sidling tracks. You really don't like them do you? I really felt for you Kurt. I find them real ankle grinders too. Those sidle also always have loose fine gravel and loose larger rocks. And a bad fall-line. Arghhh! Earlier you also had that sidle section in the upper Wairoa River in Mt Richmond FP. 27:00 but then you got to Junction Burn Hut - perhaps the most welcome arrival at a hut? 27:11 The round hay bale joke!!! I really really did laugh until I had tears in my eyes! Do you remember Richie's joke? Coming into Palmerston North, "Why did the chicken cross the road?" "BUCK-CAUSE!" That was pretty good!
I think Cindy was actually from Tauranga if I remember correctly from our conversation. She and her two companions were a great surprise on a LONG day! I really disliked sketchy sidling! There was plenty of sidling that was enjoyable with great views. But the two you mentioned were ones I'd rather not have to repeat! yeah that hut was EXACLT what we needed at the end of that day. It was old, rustic, and isolated. For our little trail family, having it to ourselves that night was a perfect ending to that day. Yep...Richie actually was the king of jokes on the trail. He had many more that were, sadly, not recorded.

Thank you again SO MUCH for being such an integral part of the TA experience!
Was great to meet you and Richie in Palmy and I think of you guys each time I see round bales - which is very often! 😂
My grandfather would be very proud…or is dumbfounded…that I’ve made that joke such a thing 😂
That was great to relive. And I was surprised how much I had seen. Excited to see the last 10.
