It's a great feeling doing a repair that's cheap or free but makes a big difference to the enjoyment of the car. Antifreeze will help to stop the valve from seizing as well as moving it regularly.
I saw a RUclips video that recommended a great peneteating concoction: acetone and automatic transmission fluid combined in a 50/50 mixture. I tried it, and it works beautifully to free up rusted bolts. I use a small (4 oz.) Oil can with a pump to apply it.

Often it’s those little jobs that make all the difference. We now move it regularly depending on the temperature of the day.
I have one of those work benches, they are slightly more stable with the jaws shut. Another nice video.
It’s convenient to fold away in the barn. Thank you

That sounds like a great tip, does the acetone effect the paintwork?
@@themustardmidget I don't know. I have not let it touch a painted area. I suspect it would dissolve the paint.
Would be wise to change the rubber o-ring inside the valve while you are in there. 👍🏻
Great point! I didn’t dismantle but that is probably good to do
Once its loosened up its probably good for another 20 years.
Yes, I have got to also keep moving it on a regular basic too.
@@themustardmidget I think mine is stiff as it doesn't get opened and closed. A well timed video from you. I will manipulate the valve today.
@@awalk5177 glad it will help.
