Do you think there's still coins in that spot that they missed?

Johnathon Castro- Definitely, there were 11 ships lost. All of those ships were packed full of treasure.

Anybody who wants to go and search for treasure should be allowed to. I don't get how he has the rights to treasure which has yet to be found.

Did Brent just say ' they were sailing along the east coast of Spain ' Ooops ( 3.00 )

Maybe he meant "New Spain". I caught another mistake too in the beginning, but overall it is such a great talk about what happened and what he has done.

If you find any artifacts on the beach, is it yours to keep?

Depends on the country, although if it is (1) public beach (2) object found is above the tide/waterline. Would help with a claim.

Just nerves probably. He also said King Louis XIV was king of Spain - but he knows & intended to say France, making Philip a French king on the Spanish throne. A very bad thing for Europe's balance of power.
New evidence found (since this TED talk) in Cuba suggests there were closer to 3,000 people & 1,500 casualties in the 1715 shipwrecks. (Cuba's archives became off limits at the exact same time that researchers became active after finding coins in FL.)
In FL, if you find a coin on the dry beach, it's yours to keep (but you should show it to the McLarty Museum so they can put it on record). If it's in the water, it's illegal to take it, but you should still report it to the museum.
Coins will continue to be found in & out of the water for generations, esp. after hurricanes when everything gets stirred up.
I was there July 31, 2015, when Brent & his sunburnt crew entered in flipflops at a 300-year commemoration banquet to announce...TODAY IS THE DAY!
