Subscribed! This was the best introduction to drawing ever! I would have said I don't need nobody to show me how to sharpen a pencil, then you showed us and I needed that!
I just bought your book at a thrift store it’s been so helpful. And I found this channel randomly as just something to have in the e background while I practice
Ha! I knew I wasn’t doing wrong layering watercolor pencils and reg color pencils! I’ve only been studying for 3 weeks and when an artist friend saw me doing this he chided me to focus on one media...art is an expression of the soul! Who cares about right and wrong, in particular, it proper technique is employed. I’m so new at this I don’t know if I’ll ever be good enough to do what Wendy does, but I’d sure love to!
Great comment! I think right or wrong is told by everyones very own heart and not by others. Propably your friend was right, but only for himself and not for you. Also I can totally understand the advise to fokus on one single medium if someone is new to it, to maximise the progress on it.
This is so fascinating! I just saw a mention of botanical drawing in an online yoga magazine and I had no idea this was a thing. And now I’m completely enthralled by the watercolor pencils. I think I have a new thing to learn! Thank you so much for sharing this!
Your amazing tutorial. I learned so much about shadow and highlight . I , also, enjoyed the various pencils used on your object. You are a professional at this activity and I admire your talent. Thanking you tons.
Hi. I know you did this video years ago, but I can't find Fabriano Artistico Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper in spiral pads - I can't find it with holes to insert into a pad. Any suggestions with a link(s)? I loved your video. Thanks so much.
Dear #Wendy... I just found your channel & I must say that I am flabbergasted that you don't have 1 million subscribers. Very Clear that you have put years into perfecting your Art.... Looking forward to learning more from your videos! Peace & Love From Toronto✌
Being able to take the spiral binder off your paper would come in handy for organizing your swatch book! you could remove swatches that are no longer relevant or rearrange your pages. I hadn't thought of that before until I saw you show how to unbind your paper.
Stellar video. Glad to have found your channel. I've been working with watercolor, and only staring at my colored pencils, wondering what to do with them. Now I have a clue about how to get started. Thank you.
Very nice. I really appreciated the zoom lens. It was great to see see all of the details.I swear I could smell the pencils and feel them in my hand. Thank you.
This is a wonderful video full of great information, definitely not too long. In fact, it would be lovely to watch you create and execute your art in real time. I would love it!
Wonderful!! I had never thought to layer regular colored pencil on top of watercolor! I love how the texture of the two create the realistic texture of the tomato! Can’t wait to try your techniques!!
This is a helpful tutorial. I am also very thrilled to see another lefty draw, because I don't have to reverse what I am seeing to translate to my left hand, like I usually must do. Thanks!
Thank you! Thank you! What a wonderful addition to your book (I consider it my bible on the subject of colored pencil :-) It really helps to see your technique in action.
Glad I stumbled across your channel and this video, Wendy, I was just looking at the courses on your website! From one artist to another, thank you for your wonderful contributions to teaching others.
I want to try colored pencils so badly but I just cannot understand if you start with light colored pencils or dark and how do you decide which colors to use? I am used to painting in watercolors and I cannot figure this out. Please advise. I find this very confusing. I do own your book but just need some advise. As a example, say you have a red object, which red do you use first?
Hi Wendy. I have a desk top sharpener and it never fails with graphite but it wont do my colour pencils without chewing them up. what sharpener do you use? also what paper are you using in the video. thankyou I enjoyed your teaching
