This is a perfect example of why the QOL feature I miss most is the ability to change cars from the race start menu. I will never understand how they could give us this kind of potential, just to force you to have to completely exit the race/map, switch cars, then reload the entire race/map
it honestly kinda brings me back to the FH1 days, where in online lobbies if you wanted people to be able to see the livery on your car after changing cars at an outpost, you had to back out to the lobby to swap cars
The devs consistently let us down with their half hearted features, terrible wheel fitment, bug riddled mess of a game. I’m convinced they’re not actually car people bc of how terrible of a job they did at giving us the ability to modify cars the way we want. I like my cars slammed but 90% of the cars still have a 1-3” gap between tire and fender, or come with a ridiculous amount of unfixable rake. Figured they’d give us a feature like this and still screw it up by making it completely non user friendly. That being said, I still love the game, just sucks that they seem to just not care at all about how the game plays or even seem to like cars at all anyhow.
This is why the ability to create lobbies with Event Lab creations would be genuinely revolutionary. In one fell swoop we'd have a simcade competitor to Assetto online; we could have a lobby for this map with 12 players on it, tandem drifting up the mountain. A manageable version of that crazy Nihon Turismo mod from AC. Event Lab is so revolutionary it feels like PG haven't caught up with its potential yet; they're figuring it out as they go along. Adding lobbies is...unlikely. But damn it would be great.
@@sleepracer5124 I've never played Trackmania, but I've seen the 'Just hold left' trick maps. The complexity is pretty crazy. I hope FH6 realises just how much scope there is in Event Lab. The reason why Trackmania is still being played is mostly down to that track creator mode, same with Assetto Corsa because of its exensive modding options. So if Microsoft is really interested in all that sweet 'player engagement' then Event Lab should be a much bigger part of the next Horizon. It's a way to guarantee player engagement over time in a way that just relying on developer content can't do.
Hoki Parking : Looks great. Hoki parking : Holy sh... Hahaha, just joking around, but you have to practise those parking skills, mate. Anyway - what a great work of yours, the map looks stunning - though I think a full editor that bakes a real map in FH5 would give you so many more options and optimizations that it could become another game. I am so hyped to give your map a look and will boot up the game right now! :D Thanks for being such a great contributor to the Racing-community.
You know... It's funny when I was recording that bit I never intended to leave the part where I'm parking in the actual video because I was just messing around and thought I'd cut away to something else by that point, but then when it came to the edit I decided to leave it in and was THIS close to re-recording it because I knew someone would make fun of how bad the parking job was. RIP
Well done Hoki! This is very well done and looks absolutely phenomenal. Hope this makes it to the festival playlist. Perhaps the devs can make Japan possible, I guess we'll see.
Absolutely incredible! I cannot imagine how much work this took. Even getting out of the grid and wandering around to see how it's constructed... my gyuy... this is seriously wicked. Love the atmosphere touches, and super appreciate the gas station in there too. And... I _love_ the "finish line". Brilliant concept all around and I'm going to have to give this a shot in a drift... as soon as I learn how to drift like you do. lol
Wow wow wow! Much respect for the video quality, the shoutouts, and of course the insane map. You truly understand and deliver for the community. Spots like 6:47 are such a cool vibe and the fact that the touge can be run both ways (with harder to link corners) just shows the extra effort. I could go on... Thank you!
About the highway loop, I wouldn't be opposed to having a separate map for the Hoshido Highway Loop just so you can put full effort into the road itself with the typical set dressing. Amazing work on everything
This looks fantastic Hoki; reminds me quite heavily of the Daikoku mod from AC, which is great fun to drift. It also looks like a labour of love. I was one of the people who didn't care where Horizon was set and actually felt unenthused by Japan as a location. But as I've become more consumed by car culture I've fallen in love with touges in particular. I learned drifting in Assetto by downloading everything by the fantastic modders Euro and Kozzren; so Nanamagari, Hapohagara, Akina, Tsukuba Fruits, etc. And there's something about drifting a touge that's unique; it feels like each time you drift one, you tell a story with a beginning, middle and end. So it's so much more interesting than just looping in a tandem on some drift circuit. Touges have that feeling of being out in the wilderness; of climbing and of descending. And they come with all the unique Japanese iconography; the road signs, the particular kinds of trees and especially the road markings they have over there which are so evocative, like the red stripes on hair pins, etc. I sometimes play Shutoko, and it's good fun; but touges and drifting is where my heart lies, so kudos for focusing on, and prioritising, the twisty bits instead of just the straight bits. If only we could have lobbies in Horizon...
Amazing map, amazing places for photos and the real atmosphere of Japan. I can't imagine how much time you spent on this project (I stopped the video at 2:00 so I don't know if you talked about it further). The only thing I would need is a wider mountain pass... I like drifting but I'm not very good at it, so I don't enjoy it as much as I would like. But it's still awesome and the best creation I've seen in FH5.
Hoshi you're the man. I crave technical roads on Forza and to see you putting in the work for us to get a taste of that in this game is amazing. Thank you!
Now make another city map for grip racing, this would be good practice for making a better highway system since u don’t really need a rural drift part and can focus more on the city itself, especially the highway system
Nice. As an architecture designer and FH5 player. I appreciate all the work you have put into this. I would be interesting in learning how to custom building environment one day. I’ll be visiting hoshido city.
This is absolutely beautiful, I check recent blueprints and came across this when you released it. I continue to be astounded by how you completed this without breaking the prop limit! I strive to put a lot of detail in my maps but this is insane! I would absolutely love to have a chat with you regard how this was made. I create the NOHESI maps currently trending rn and if it were possible to collaborate I’d be so happy in the future! 🔥🔥🔥
You’re a mad man super talented and such a gorgeous map . I hope this year is truly our year for fh6 Japan 😭 fh5 for the last year have really been listening and talking to the community. They definitely know we want it and I’m getting confident that they’ll listen this time 😁
So glad there's finally something like this in FH5! Now we don't gotta wait to see if FH6 will be set in Japan lol Hopefully it'll run well on my Series S
I didn't even know this was possible on Horizon.. they really don't show off what Event Lab can do in-game well enough. Other than knowing the name, I had no idea what it was.. Even the menu is confusing to figure out.
Yep, unfortunately they didn't do a great job of marketing the feature early on, so tons of players have absolutely no idea that there's a full map builder that can do things like this! If this is the first map you're seeing in Event Lab, definitely look more into it! There are hundreds of amazing maps for any style of gameplay.
I’ve wanted Japan in Horizon since H2 but this is the next best thing! I removed FH5 months ago because the game is just so boring compared to FH1-FH3 which I dumped years into! But THIS Gives me a real reason to download it again!!
I'm not a JDM nerd, at all, I prefer American Muscle, but I have been wanting the next Horizon game to be set in Japan since the original Horizon. I've been wanting such a game ever since I watched Tokyo Drift.
This looks awesome! My only question is why such high walls on the highway? It makes it so you can’t see the city around you, it makes the road feel even tighter than it already is and takes away prop budget that could’ve been used to smooth corners or something. Not trying to be critical just my suggest based on what o see in the video, have not driven the map myself yet
Thanks! So if the walls weren't there you'd end up seeing all the "behind the scenes" stuff like floating trees and grass blocks, and ofcourse the massive empty expanse of the EL island. The walls are there to protect the illusion that city/mountain is still there below you - even though it actually isn't. While you're in the actual city though, there aren't any high walls!
Yeah would love to see the insane city you built from higher up but that would be really hard to pull off, best custom map I've seen, cant wait to give it a try!
Hmm maybe? But it'd likely have to be very simplified - the C1 loop is more or less twice the size of the entire event lab island (for comparison, the entire Hoshido City map takes up only about 1/6th of the island) - so it'd certainly take a long time to build, but I think it might be possible in theory to at least do a slimmed down version without a lot decoration.
The city runs a little bit rough at the very start on Xbox One S but the Touge and highway run pretty much perfectly fine. Driving around the rest of the city isn't bad either, I was expecting a slideshow but it's way better and definitely playable.
This is a perfect example of why the QOL feature I miss most is the ability to change cars from the race start menu. I will never understand how they could give us this kind of potential, just to force you to have to completely exit the race/map, switch cars, then reload the entire race/map

The urge to reinstall is strong with this one. Well done man!
I'm not even the biggest JDM guy, but as a fellow map creator this is probably the best thing I've seen in event lab.
great map! This shows how the community is starving for a more urban setting in the Forza series
