FIX FOR THE DROPPING LANDING GEAR: If you replace the yellow frictionless pin from both of the front legs for the regular black ones, the landing gear will stay in position. I recommend only replacing the pins in the front legs. If you also change a pin in the posterior landing leg, it feels like the friction is a little too much. Changing 2 pins is all you need! I tried this and have no issues with the landing gears dropping anymore! You are welcome!!!
Where would one get these black pins? I'm looking at Lego's Pick A Brick and the only one I find that would have friction and fit there is CONNECTOR PEG W. FRICTION 3M, which is blue on the website; would that still work?
Oh yeah, the VTOL totally is a Mars Mission set! I really love the alien vehicles form that theme and wonder if we'll ever get something similar again.
@@cardboard_cave I didn't say I thought it was bad set overall; I just thought that the lift-arm feature was poorly implemented and probably unnecessary. I imagine they were trying to find a way to integrate the airlock piece into the set somehow.
that VTOL set looks so awesome!! I agree with you, Technic was not only a bit boring but also expensive! This set proves that Technic can be exciting, great looking and cheap! What a marvel! I really want it! :D

I'm a classic space fan I was lucky enough to be given the original sets in 1979 when I was 9 and I still have them . I love the new city space sets and I'm definitely buying the technic VTOL and making any small changes the cockpit needs to fit a classic spaceman. Great video 😊
So there is actually a spot to hold the cargo, it's at the center where it says lift. When you lift it the cradle is shaped for the cargo almost perfectly, it fits in there really nice and you can clamp it down for a snug fit

Okay, so I'm an Australian Lego fan, and Lego here can get a bit expensive (like the Marvel construction figures being over 50AUD,) The VTOL heavy cargo spaceship is 150 AUD at 1,365 pieces, that rounds to about 10.9 AU cents a piece, That is with Tax/GST by the way, That is an absolute steal, and not just in PPP, but in play value too, the VTOL is absolutely worth it. I used to be a fan of Lego technic, but it recent years it felt like Technic had just become super car models, control plus and pull back motors, with some small sets in-between. But between the Mack LR Electric Garbage Truck, and pretty much all of technic space, it feels like that classic, dare I say, magical, feeling of Technic is back in some form. Please, even if you are not a fan of Lego Technic, The VTOL heavy cargo spaceship is worth every cent and deserves all the support.
Hi. I had the same problem with the landing gear. A solution is to change the grey pin to a black pin at the red moving bar. What connects the front legs to the back leg.
Really like these especially for the fact they are minifig compatible. Technic needs original stuff like this! All in on Sci-fi Imagine Cyberpunk type cars in Technic wow 😈
I get a heavy "space engineers" game type of idea with that big rover. Not a bad thing on itself, but yeah that big one is more interesting for parts then it's for the set itself. The small rover I might get due to the wheels at least twice. Really handy to have those wheels for sure. For the rest... Yeah i'm not so sure to be honest, although the spaceship thing does have some nice parts to have for my own builds.
I’m just surprised they thought loading from the side would be better than loading from the back. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make some mods for it that do that

Well... the VTOL ( Vee-tol ) is more real life inspired. The V-22 Osprey being the closest. The Harrier VTOL doesn't really look like it, but it has the same flight capability. I really like the Rover vehicle. There really isn't anything like it in real life. Only other thing it can be compared to is from pop culture, Star Wars, and in the form of the Turbo Tank. I don't know, I just thought I'd point that out :l

Definitely giving me Mars Mission vibes, which is great because two of my favorite sets are *still* two of the massive Mars Mission vehicles.

JangBricks was disappointed with the loading feature on the small rover, too. 😢 Still, I think the rover looks good without the loading function.
I thought the transforming feature more than made up for the small loader on a $35 set. Feels like a real win as a smaller technic set.

More technic vehicle sets should be minifigure compatible/adjacent, something like how the last wave of Hero Factory did with CCBS.
