The thing about him not having a smartphone actually explains so much with how he dislikes using CGI in his films. For anyone who doesn’t know the reason why he doesn’t like using CGI, it’s because he wants his films to be as real as possible and especially for the audience to be able to fully visualise the scene they are watching. So him not having a smart phone really does make sense, in terms of him living in the moment and keeping his life as real and as close to actually real life as possible. It’s amazing you can see just how much RDJ respects Chris Nolan. RDJ had troubles in his youth like most young Hollywood actors; but he overcame them due to people taking a chance on him. First came Marvel, they took a chance on him and he defined a character but that role and the aftermath (cough Doolittle cough) clearly shook his confidence and made him doubt his capabilities. Let’s not forget he was nominated for an Oscar in his youth. He was very talented but it got lost in all that MCU and Stark luster. Especially since he defined the character which defined an entire era in cinema history. But then Chris Nolan took a chance on him for a serious role. One where he had to flex acting muscles which have been wasting away for years…and then BAM Oscar and now every performance since I’ve been hearing so many praises for his acting skills. It’s well deserved and I’m so happy he’s flourishing. It’s a good comeback story tbh
I love that it's Zimmer's Inception main overture even though many believe Oppenheimer to be Nolan's magnum opus. Maybe it is, but Inception is my favorite of his hands down and I can't imagine that could ever change.
Same. That movie is a spiritual experience, truly amazing. Best movie ever made. I cried after watching it the first time, because I knew I would never have the same experience ever again.
He's a director. He doesn't save people's lives or even have an important job. This montage about how he got on something floating in the ocean and how he doesn't like smart phones is a joke surely? Actors are not in check with reality are they
I just look at cilian and christopher and think that I can actually have a peaceful and riveting conversation with these men. Like I personally wouldn't want to pick my phone, I'd be indulged
Nolan doesn't write and direct only because he loves it, but because he loves to tell a story, he loves to immerse you in the story. His passion extends beyond just making the film, his passion is part of him. And that's why he makes the most impactful films.

While it's good that he's willing to do things, he needs to remember that healthy behavior is also a good example.
why is there movie music in the background as if they're about to save the world
The thing about him not having a smartphone actually explains so much with how he dislikes using CGI in his films.
Absolute legend, and a master of his craft!🙌🏻🎥
Wonder if he’s like this only at work or always that way. Would make one real productive
This is a great concept. As a manager, I held this same premise. I'm not going to ask anyone to do something I can not do or am not willing to do myself.
Amazing guy.. well except that one film
what film to be exact?
Tenet?
Christopher Nolan and Hans zimmer are a deadly combo
Last phone was Iphone 4... I live like it's the early 90's every weekday until about 6pm. boss at my current job looked at me like I said I live on the moon in my interview when I said I had no mobile contact number.
Going to extremes just because you can’t stop yourself from drowning in the youtube shorts algorithm and being unproductive is not the solution bud
@@maddestruction1 "extreme"

2 legendary actors talking about the most legendary creator (Film maker). Just amazing!
film director*
You would think its impossible to train your body to go to the bathroom at a certain time. Until you have to. I am a teacher and my body can hold it until the bell rings.
until the Bell is different than 11-6... Chris isn't drinking enough
@@ktp01 Or he could be drinking enough, but at specific times so it doesn't interfere with the work
Cool story
Until you develop a medical condition that makes it impossible!
The fact that they all won their first oscars working together was awesome.
Nah. Not using bathrooms is crazy.
Damn what Robert says about Nolan is great, but when Cillian provides proof. That's was an alley oop if I'd ever seen one. But chris, this is definitely legendary.
phones ruin everything. good rule.
You worte on the phone. ;)
@@badmaniak yes. and ruined that moment by stearing my screen, and not paying attention to my surroundings.
WB really fumbled the bag with Chris Nolan.
Cillian is such an underrated actor. He's very good
I'm almost certain no ones knows what underrated means, everyone one rates him highly, from directors , his peers and the audience, everyone rates him very highly.
He literally won the Academy Award for being the best man at acting.
Everyone loves him but he has only 1 nomination for an Oscar. If he had more nominations then it would be ok but he gets overlooked all the time
@@gruntskilling ''everyone loves him'' that by definition means he's not overrated, using oscar nominations as your reason just proves my point, people really don't understand what underrated means
@gshoots4357 sort of, I understand but you method doesn't have a quantifiable metric. It works but it doesn't. Keanu Reeves (yes), Brad Pitt (yes), OJ Simpson, by your metric (yes). Everybody loved the juice until his case, did that change his comedic ability, nope.
And you can literally see it in his craft. Just perfection.
Crazy
Director bans phones, sh*ts regularly, and sits on a boat for a minute?
Sure, phones away.
Regimented piss breaks? Nah mate.
I’ve heard enough horror stories in my line of work.
He doesn't give the crew regimented piss breaks. RDJ just said that's how Nolan operates for himself.
@@SunlightGwyn sure, but as someone who has been on sets this can get out of hand very quickly to the detriment of everyone else’s already ailing physical and mental health. People glorifying auteurs’ strange behaviour helps feed into an unhealthy paradigm; we all must suffer for our (your) art. Bollocks to that. Also, a. Lot of these directors people laud are actually ***holes on set for no reason other than their fragile ego.
Even if he’s not advocating it for the crew I implore the wider public to not put him on a pedestal because of it.
@@LukeBannon-e3r And I implore the wider public to ignore your opinions. Nolan is a down to earth guy that everyone that's come in contact with him speaks highly of. Nolan understands that in order to produce high quality products that he needs to perform at a high level, and he does. He asks that everyone else does the same. That requires sacrifices. You don't like it? You don't have to work for him. Nobody is forcing you to. Don't even watch his movies if you don't want to. I and his millions of fans will continue to appreciate all the hard work he demands from himself and others being at the top of his craft.
@@SunlightGwyn wow, sorry dude. I didn’t realise you knew Christopher Nolan that well. My bad!
@@SunlightGwyn alright, I’m being facetious.
I love a lot of Chris Nolan’s movies and I think he comes across as a wonderful human.
My point is just that, in my personal experience with the purview of crew members is that sometimes certain people (who shall remain nameless) get put on a pedestal and everyone else suffers.
There is no evidence that this is the case with Nolan, but I correlated my experience with the overly besotted commenters who take this behaviour as a sign of greatness; the two are not mutually exclusive.
That’s my entire point actually. They’re not mutually exclusive.
I appreciate you taking the time to write out a reply to me.
Is there a movie with Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey in the making?
They were just In a movie together, Oppenheimer
Probably an interview after Oppenheimer came out as they were both in it together
They were in Oppenheimer together along with Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Florence Pugh. Came out last summer.
Bruh
Damn how is he so beautiful cillian Murphy is truly gifted with great looks and acting skills ❤
Christopher nolan is the Spielberg of today but better. Hes an amazing director
Spielberg is still alive and working, SO ....
@@paultrauzzi5360 yeah, but he isn't at his peak (which doesn't mean he's bad by any means, he still is freaking great)
I love that it's Zimmer's Inception main overture even though many believe Oppenheimer to be Nolan's magnum opus. Maybe it is, but Inception is my favorite of his hands down and I can't imagine that could ever change.
Same. That movie is a spiritual experience, truly amazing. Best movie ever made. I cried after watching it the first time, because I knew I would never have the same experience ever again.
Daddy's gotta poop when it's time to poop. No schedule.
Please make the music louder. I can still hear the people talking.
He's insane if you ask me. He doesn't go to the bathroom? That's plain stupid.
He adopted Sheldon's bathroom schedule
He's a director. He doesn't save people's lives or even have an important job. This montage about how he got on something floating in the ocean and how he doesn't like smart phones is a joke surely? Actors are not in check with reality are they
Beautiful Music.
If I see Chris Nolan, I walk around with a bag and collect all the free phones.
I really liked this video. Thank you 😊
And that's why he makes magnificent movies, he demands quality and dedication
get that song a little louder, i can still hear them talking
Lol reminded me of the pitch meeting 😅
Nice to hear. I think it bears fruit considering how good his films are.
Cillian definitely thinks a lot of Christopher. As reserved as Cillian is, you know the praise is well deserved.
I just look at cilian and christopher and think that I can actually have a peaceful and riveting conversation with these men. Like I personally wouldn't want to pick my phone, I'd be indulged
This is why i have never missed any of Nolan's movies. Simply artistic.
Nolan doesn't write and direct only because he loves it, but because he loves to tell a story, he loves to immerse you in the story.
His passion extends beyond just making the film, his passion is part of him.
And that's why he makes the most impactful films.
