I was on the combination pill for 6months to help with heavy periods and severe cramps. It made my periods lighter, shorter, very mild cramps, just overall better. I did still feel like I had pms symptoms or like the moody emotional stuff. I felt like I was completely fine until about month 5 when I felt kinda bloated and my weight had gone up a few pounds (from 124 to 129-30). I was worried about gaining weight and wondered if it was the pill. That is when I got into the side of RUclips that talks about the pill and it scared me soo much. From the horror stories to potential side affects, I started to get so anxious that I would feel them and I over analyzed every little thing to be a side affect. I was going through a lot on month 6th almost graduating and stressed about finding a job, relationship stress and worry, and I got so anxious one day it made my chest hurt really bad, shortness of breath, like someone was sitting on my chest.. I then thought it was my bc maybe causing me to be anxious and stress and then I worried the feeling was a rare serious side affect and was possibly a blood clot making me feel this way, causing me to have a bad panic attack. I stopped taking the pill the next day. I immediately felt better, my mood and worry was so much better but also I think it was because I didn’t have to over analyze everything and worry about what the pill was doing because I wasn’t taking it anymore so those risks were gone. Looking back now, I was a anxious mess, and I’ve always had anxiety and overthinking things. But I’m now starting to look into bc options again and I wonder if it was really that bad or was I reading too much and scaring myself… idk. Do you have any tips? If I was on bc it would only be for a year or two and then I would get off to start a family.. I just would like a little time to not worry about it and focus on my marriage without getting pregnant right away. Sorry if this is a lot lol

I have been on the pill for a little over a year and have PCOS. I'm really over the side effects of it and forgetting to take it on schedule. I'm in a committed relationship with my boyfriend and we use condoms also for backup. I was thinking of switching to the copper IUD for no hormones but I'm scared of the insertion process and if something went wrong it could ruin my chances of getting pregnant in the future. I haven't had a baby yet. I think I may give Natural Cycles a try after I talk to my doctor about it. Thank you for spreading awareness of birth control! Sex ed in school needs to be better taught to teens.
