Breaking in is letting all the metal parts wear into place, some people swear by it and others swear the way you drive it from the start is the way it will always be.
For an engine that you built strictly for racing, you don’t need to break it in. For an engine you built for racing but also street driving and reliability, you would want to break it in. Like the C8 corvette for example, from the factory you are limited to how much RPM and power you can use until that 500 miles has hit.

Im a car and truck guy. I do drag racing, off roading, rock crawling ect.. and i can say im halpy to hear how cautious you are and willing to learn and ask all the right questions instead of just grtting in and hurting yourself. dont be afraid to ask the racers at any track to help you and guide you safely. Its a ton of fun and you will enjoy it

Tim, I don’t think you realize how good of a decision buying the demon 170 was. Not just is it the last version of the challenger before they end challenger production, but they unveiled the 2024 charger and it’s all electric or a TT V6. Meaning you also have the last and most powerful version of the Hemi V8, an engine that’s been produced and iconic for over 50 years. And being one of the only limited edition models (still at 3,300 units tho) I’m sure your car will never be worth less than msrp (except maybe in the first few years). Please drive it even tho it could be worth twice its msrp in 10 years though
500 Miles before trans brake unlocks. As far as I know, the engine is pre-broke in at the factory.

Tim, I swear if you leave the yellow splitter guards on your Demon you're gonna get roasted... And I wouldn't worry about the whole 500 mile break in for the trans brake, you'll never use that anyways cause there is NO SHOT you ever take that Demon down the track the way it was intended... But, maybe I'm wrong (I'm not)

Drag mode enables trans brake and line lock, dampens the rear suspension and makes the front suspension tighter for weight transfer to the rear tires for traction. It stiffens the steering also so you just point and aim the car. I had a 1320 challenger, it was so much fun and the first car I ever took down the strip. It was literally a factory drag car. Made it so easy.

With modern cars they usually lock you out of full power till the break in period is over, but yes 500 miles is the standard break in number

Yes my dad has a hellcat red eye and ya you don’t unlock the full settings on the car till you get to 500 miles on it have fun with it they are amazing. Definitely should try to take it to a track somewhere when you unlock everything.

Tim you can google e85 stations just don’t store it with e85 in the tank for long periods . It can gunk up injectors store it with pump gas only like for winter
There's a high chance most ppl ordering this won't order a moonroof since it makes it slightly heavier, so that might make yours more collectible in the future!
It tells you what drag mode is in the manual. Drag mode changes the rpms and when the car actually shifts. It also makes the steering much more stiff. Does more but I can't remember off top. At least that's some of what it does in drag mode in my scat pack. That demon gonna go crazy!

He's going to race and stuff with his demon so he doesn't need a sunroof. You won't be going too to crazy with yours it's more an enjoyment car so sunroof approved. Also having it might make your demon 170 more rare as alot of them probably won't come with one. If you aren't going to full send the 170 at tracks sunroof is a must
I don’t think you have to worry about breaking an engine like that in, most the internals gotten be fully forged, I can’t really see needing to set the piston rings too long either. And it looks like dodge locks you out of the true potential until you hit that marker.
Lvl 2 Chrysler Tech (mechanic) here the "break in period" is 750 miles but it's really just a recommendation if you go all out nothing will happen it's basically just so we know everything works properly lol
its ok to go with a sunroof if you're not going to track the car, otherwise its an expensive option that adds shit tons of weight to the car but for most people hell they will never track a car meant for it

if you have thortons gas station near by they have E85 at certain pumps but e85 burns way faster than regular 93
Drag mode might be a rear differential lock, so both tires get power to them no matter what.
Doing an engine break-in used to be a standard procedure with new cars. And it's still the case that you should avoid running the engine at high RPM for the first 1,300 miles. Experts recommend a maximum 3,500 rpm and 90 mph in diesel models and 4,500 rpm and 100 mph in gas models.

MR.TIMTHETATMAN ok you asked ab the break in period I've been a dodge for awhile now have seen atleast 3 demon 170s here in the Chicago land area. Besides the point the break in period is the first 5,000 miles till your first oil change like most cars.

only thing about a sun roof is that the glass and assembly are heavy, increasing an already over 4k lbs curb weight
A lot of the time with a “break in period” you want to drive the car how you normally would because the computer is learning your habits of acceleration and driving habits.

It’s not a break in just a 500 mile limiter, the sunroof will make u slower aswell but knowing u it’s not going fast anyway, also I was there with my cars and trailer when he was there the purple looks good, also the black dude demonology is a 🐱 and won’t race anything his level, also drag mode give u more power and enables line lock so u can do burnouts….for a dude who is getting one Timmy do ur research
The “drag mode” typically tightens steering and shifts at higher rpm’s
If you want a more in depth video to react to Tom Bailey has one where he took his to the drag strip to try and match dodges track times and he messes with the tuning with it in drag mode it’s about 2 months old now
Drag mode tunes the exhaust and motor timings.

break in is 500 miles to hit 80mph but 1000 miles to go over 100 mph
It’s a 500 mile break in period before you should use the red key the regular key you can push the car as much as you want because you don’t have full access to all the horse power

I had a 2022 hellcat I got sick of,
The engines for these 710s are “broken” in at the factory
Yet the drivetrain SHOULD have at least 500-1500 miles on it before you go over 90mph or do anything harsh.
Specially the first 100 miles to not exceed 5000 rpm and don’t maintain the same rpm’s for extended time. Some of the track features weren’t even available until you got over 500 miles on the car.
There’s a break in procedure in the manual. It specifies how to drive the car for up to the first 1500 miles. Launch control and line lock is disabled until 500 miles.
