Just got my 2005 sportsman 500 HO fixed as well. It was having similar bogging problems, and would leak gas from the nipple on the bottom of the bowl when parked. My remedy was a 35.00 aftermarket cheap carb from the Amazon, works better than ever.
My Polaris 300 Hawkeye was having boogin problems and full throttle problems until I remove just the top air filter cover and that fix my problem. Cuz before that I try a lot stuff and it was still the same now runs nice and strong
5:35..The fun part is really the easy part.. I figured out you can simply take the throttle control cover off where the thumb throttle is and disconnect the cable up there first ..Then putting that pain in the butt one on is easy peazy cause you now have slack...
My 2001 sportsman 500 HO will act completely perfect for about 2 miles, and then all of a sudden shut off while cruising it’s driving me nuts it will not restart right after it shuts down but if I give it a few minutes as if something needs to cool down at fires right back up and will run the longer I let it cool down the longer it will go I went through my entire cooling system today. It’s not that. It will always go a pretty good distance before it does this like 2 miles it’s always the same distance pretty much as soon as it gets fully warm I don’t know if it’s a thermal fuse, the ignition, the rectifier the stator I have no idea but it’s annoying
you didnt let us know how much difference it made when RIDING it, after reinstalling the main jet.... the engine will usually run with no load, but its when a load is placed on it is when carb problems show up...
JM Repair I have a 2010 500ho and I replaced the fuel pump and carb and it still keeps bogging down when I give it gas I tried messing with the mixture screw and it’s still bogging Down
mASSTERCASTER have you checked the air filter, spark plug gap or is the carburetor you have bought the correct one? I have had mine fully rebuilt with a $75 carb and it never ran I had to put the new parts into the old carb that never ran. Another thing is your carb getting enough fuel?
Not uncommon at all not. This is not uncommon at all I had an old and older 86 xr600 and I was riding up the railroad beds and it used to do the same thing so I pulled a joke and it would it would start running right again but let off the choke and stay good for a while the vacuum in the suction of the full fuel being drawn was pulling the jet back up into the hole and cleaning it out enough that it would run I couldn't believe it I took the Jetta pot carburetor Bowl off put the Jack back in and I was good to go very odd but not uncommon for a jet to back itself off and fall into the float Bowl and would definitely cause bog
