@@e320treasures7 I am also wanting to use decorative {white) wax over a clear coat. Not a clear wax over clear coat, but white wax over a clear coat, I want to use clear coat as opposed to clear wax because I think the wax I have may yellow my light gray chalk paint.
@@bpaulsen6701 no, you would need to take the wax off with mineral spirits before applying any poly. Wax will always have some form of oil in it that will keep water-based products from adhering properly. I either use one or the other, never both unless the wax is decorative and I always put it on last. The wax that I use is self sealing, so it does not require a topcoat. I hope that helps!
You are absolutely right! Painting after waxing is a big no-no! In this video, I was trying to show how to control your wax after a CLEAR COAT. Because chalk paint is so porous if you wax over it, it will suck up the wax and be super grungy. If you’re looking to all control the wax, then clearcoating over the chalk paint is a must. And this would be for colored waxes, as I would not do this with clear wax.😁

Thank you for this tutorial. It was really nice to actually see the difference. So helpful!
Yay!! I’m so glad! And thank you for telling me!
I waxed over my clear coat but it looks like it will never adhere it’s just smeary. If I leave it alone will it eventually dry
Did you buff a clear wax after 15 minutes?

Did I miss the clear coat over wax? I wanted to know if I can clear coat over wax.
I don’t usually clearcoat over decorative wax. Although you can if you want to after it is completely dry. It is self sealing so it’s not necessary.
@@e320treasures7 Thank you! I didn't see a single thing about whether you can use polyurethane over wax, either.
