  • This is a 1965 titled Factory Five Racing Type 65 Coupe-R, Daytona Coupe. This Coupe-R is pending!
    bringatrailer.com/listing/fac...
Factory Five's tag line is "The Built, Not Bought Company!"
They have been offering component car kits since 1995. This particular car is an homage to the amazing Shelby Daytona Coupe's that ran at LeMans.
The owner purchased this kit from Factory Five Racing and attended their intensive build school. Over the next year, he would build this car from the ground up, using all new parts. This included a Ford 348 V8 with 414 hp and 416 lb-ft of torque. All while weighing only 2544 lbs wet.
Very important to mention that this car is street legal and road registered as a 1965. (Hear that California enthusiasts?) It was used sparingly on track days with the Shelby club, before the owner retired and moved to Oregon.
It is now for sale here in Northern California!

im not trying to knock anyone's videos but there is a beautiful lady on youtube that is a car enthusiast and right now is showing off what she is calling her shelby daytona, she has let it out that its an older factory five, barn find. a lot of her viewers think its a real daytona and even argue the price etc, i just wanted to show youtubers what a great factory five daytona looks like, and tell the guy that offered her 75 grand for her car, which is ok but not a great build, that you can buy these cars. her viewers are under the impression her car is rare and impossible to find. so i just saw the link where this beauty sold for 75 grand and a link to find others for sale. thanks for making this video. from others ive seen factory five is one of the best in the business.

Thanks Jimmie. This indeed an amazing build. The Gen3 is quite a bit better than the earlier chassis. So much depends on what equipment they used and who built it.
In this case 100% brand new parts were used. This is often not the case.

I just bought a 1981 Datsun 280zx turbo for $500 instead, and called it good.
A lot of fun for not a fortune of money. Then it got even better, when I switched to motorcycles.
High mpg and way faster acceleration, and easier to work on, and less parts to break or replace when they wear out.
