I just got my Rhodesian Ridgeback Willie last week. He actually chose me. Every night since then he sleeps with me and I have come to realize that Rhodesian Ridgebacks don't just cuddle up with you or want to lay close to you. They literally try to crawl their way into your body. They love so deeply! They just want to make your heart their home. This is my first Ridgeback and from here on out I will never get another dog but a Ridgeback. This is the best dog breed ever! ❤️ My boy makes me feel so loved.
I love your videos so much and Rhodesian Ridgebacks are my favorite breed. But I also can’t help but smile whenever I see Doc just standing there not knowing what else to do while crazy ridgebacks fly around him.
Nice a happy ending! Great story telling. I really miss my past ridgebacks even years later, no other dog can come close in my opinion. They are so intelligent and love so deeply that they put most people to shame
awwwww, that you see Penny's needs and got her a most excellent playmate and companion, my girl came to me as a 2 year old having had two litters of puppies, she likes being the queen and while enjoying other dogs she likes to be the one and only at home
Ridgebacks have such a specific way of playing and that means rough and energetic with lots of crashing into eah other chest to chest. I'm very sorry for your loss though I'm writing this 3 years after you posted. I'm so glad Penny has a new brother who speaks her language.
they are the best dogs to have they tug at your heart strings with everything they do. they love family and will protect them with their life if need be. they can be couch dogs but will jump at the chance to romp out side so don't keep them locked away let them roam let them be themselves and explore nature they will always come back to home. i have two ridgebacks and they are the best dogs i have ever owned they are very smart and will remember what you have said but they can be hard to train if you don't keep on them. let them know that you are the boss but at the same time you love them to. they will know .
Marking Our Territory, You being 'touched in the head' by your Penny is why I watch your vids. Some years ago I was in a relationship with a chap who would need to work away from home through the week. I moved in to take care of RR Zoe. She was around 1-2 yrs at that stage. She was a force. I remember her Dad came home and loved to surf. Zoe would sit with me on the sand and wimpier. I said to her something like, "He's ok. He's enjoying this time. I miss him too." Zoe let out one big sigh, sat down and leaned against me. Zoe was sentimental, fun and so... polite (knew she needed to stay on the edge of the kitchen when I was cooking. She was smart and very strong. I'm 153cm/50kg, and she could drag me some if she wanted on a walk or run. Love this so much. Thank you for sharing. You're quite poetic about your canine family members. It's wonderful.
I also lost my best friend... on september 23, i still miss him a lot.. still cry a lot.. but someone gave me a ridgeback puppy, and we are becoming best friends. His name is Limon, and he is teaching me more things that i can teach him. greetings from Argentina.
Made me cry. I'm so happy that they have each other and you. I love that you found a perfect match for Penny. They're both beautiful. Happy Thanksgiving to you, Penny and Zero!!!
I wanted to tell you what a excellent story teller you are. I found you by looking up rhodesian ridgebacks because I suspect my little Lucy (a rescue) is part ridgeback and I wasn't sure about the breed. She is stubborn, independent, bold, funny and loving. I'm so glad you and the family have Zero. Best of luck and thank you for these videos
New to the channel, love the channel and new to Ridgebacks. I'm finally in a place in life where having a dog makes sense. I've had several cats for 20yrs, but hadn't had a dog since our Husky was put down in 1980 at 13. So, I set out and did a lot of research and had never even heard of the breed until 2 months ago. Now I can't get enough of them. It just hit every checkbox of what my daughter (13) and I (47) wanted in a new family member. Our dear Rhodesian Ridgeback Peanut came home on 12/22/18 at 8 weeks and she's just amazing. Now my Ranger (15), Squint (3) and now Peanut.
When our RR Rudy died, his RR 1/2 sister Stella grieved so deeply...I have never before, or since, seen a dog grieve in that way. After a few months, we brought home a GSD puppy, and Stella had a purpose in life again...
I just found your channel and have been binge watching. We lost our 155 lb -13 1/2 year old black Lab/Ridgeback mix Hugo Feb 2019. You!r babies are beautiful, reminds me of why I love the breed!
You are a beautiful man of understanding! You were not happy until Penny's heart was once again filled with happiness. Zero came as a blessing to you both. No more tears.
We had one ridgeback for a while, then we noticed she wasn't herself, and getting bored. so we got another girl, and they loved each other. they were so happy! and when our previous Rhodesian Ridgeback passed away, we got a playmate for the other. I think ridgebacks need the company of another dog, too. ❤️
Will, you have the soul of a poet and your stories are profound and beautiful. Your understanding of these dogs, these truly celestial beings, is just magic.
Ridgebacks are the most fabulous, whacky, loving dogs ever, my Kenya when she was younger was just like Penny. Kenya is our third Ridgeback, they have been my friends and I have loved them so very much. Thank you for your wonderful videos they showcase how wonderful these dogs are.
That was just beautiful. I have a crazy dog that I believe has Ridgeback in him. After my older dog passed away I've hesitated about getting another one because Jax is just so crazy. But now that I see this maybe I have to rethink that decision. Penny and Zero exude such happiness. Thank you for this.
Oh man! Where is the love button??!! Another great video, thank you so much. That is just how I felt when my Nessie died 2 years ago and then my Sadie was alone. A few months later we got our "Penny". It warms my heart to watch the 2 of them romp and play. Ridgebacks (all dogs probably) need a companion of there own kind.
These videos are so dang heartwarming. And whenever you talk about Eko, it brings tears to my eyes. I want to say thank you for sharing these videos and little glimpses of your lives. Not just the good..I have a one year old puppy named Charlie Skip, a labrador-border collie-boxer mix who is a whirlwind of life.. somewhat similar to Penny it seems..and he teaches me so much about myself and life. My thanksgiving thanks goes out to you for sharing. Sincerely//Tyra from Stockholm Sweden
Have been following your terrific creations here on RUclips for years now. I was heart broken with your loss of Echo. You done great here...captured yet again the unique and special qualities of this magnificent breed, and this age old bond between like minded souls. Thanks again.
My two dogs are matched pair & I know my shep-mix will be gone in 4-6 years leaving my ridgeback mix alone & without the only dog she's every really known, her rock when she is spooked, her teacher. He has taught her to guard the front door, he has taught her how to play with kids, stay in the yard(she can pop over & under our chainlink fence) and obey commands. How will I ever find her such a good friend to fill the void that will be left. It will be a hard void to fill for all of us & this video makes me feel not so alone in the challenge to come. A good dog pairing is hard to find gift.
Your videos are beautiful. AT this point in my life they make me cry...but in another phase I will love them for other feelings they illicit. Great message for humans and doggies and ridgeback fans xx
Fell in love with Penny instantaneously, her energy and logical craziness brought had me laughing out load in the middle of the night and tears watching you grieve the lost of Echo but at the end of watching your video I fall in love with the breed and looking forward to getting either a pair of them or a Ridgeback and a Golden Retriever because my girlfriend likes the breed. I had a Golden but lost him 8 yrs ago, though to myself don’t want another dog until I caught up with your video and Penny. Please keep doing video, I took away so much from the one I watched that am sure others would to, cheers and thanks a million and a great big hug to Penny
Such beautiful doggies You are so wonderful with your dogs and family They give those s such Joy and happiness We miss our Bunny!! Rhodesian Passed away in Jan the good age 15 love you big red wheaten girl.
I just discovered your channel, and I already love it. I have a beautiful Ridgeback, Tado, five years old and we are looking for a companion girl. Thank you for your inspirational videos and to show the world that Ridgebacks are the best!
A beautiful narration as usual. I look forward to each and every video you post. What a special relationship your two to have. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I lost my girl April 20. Reading about what you went through and how you have dealt with it is a tremendous help to me. Thank you, Happy Zero Day, and keep up the wonderful videos!
Thanks so much! To know the love I share with my dogs is shared by so many really brings me joy. I'm glad we could help be a part of your own healing journey.
Beautiful story, before the 28th of September I had 2 beautiful APBTS and on that day I lost my beautiful male Tyson. He too was the oldest of the 2. He was 7 Yrs old. My little girl of 3 yrs old took it hard. We becoming very close, but I know she still misses him. For awhile she wouldn’t eat. That scared me and my family. She did this for about a week and half. She’s gotten better, but I know and can see she misses him. Thank you for your story. It helped me. For I miss him so very much. 😢
Happy Birthday, Zero! Penny’s a bit unusual, but it was all Zero knew. He adapted and it has worked out wonderfully for her and the entire family. What a blessing!
Thank you so much for your heartwarming videos that only fellow ridgeback owners can truly appreciate. We had to let go our 10yr old ridge Kovu go a few weeks ago and I found your videos as they truly helped my family through this diffucult process of grieving, remembering the good times we had and somehow looking forward to a future w/o Kovu. We have a surving ridge Simba 11 yrs old and we can relate to your story of Penny losing Eko and somehow starting over with Zero. Just yesterday we visited a ridgeback breeder and met new puppies as it was extremely difficult decision but we are adding a puppy for Simba and opening our hearts once again. Thank you again for your videos and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
I'm so happy we could help share some empathy and hope during an impossibly difficult time. And I'm even happier to hear you've found the strength to begin again. Not because it's the easy thing to do, but because it's the right thing to do. Something to be very thankful for!
@@MarkingOurTerritory Well, we picked up our new bundle of joy yesterday! After allot of debate on what his new name would be my family(including 2 little girls) decided after how watching your videos endless times have comforted us with losing our beloved Kovu in early November that we would thought it would be only fitting to keep Eko's memory alive by naming our new guy....EKO! I'll post a pic on Instagram and tag you. We are also in Chicago and have to have a playdate(gonna be awhile though Eko is 7 weeks old).. although not sure we can get to Montrose beach at the crack of dawn! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
@@puddydice Wow! What an incredible gift - I'm so happy to hear Eko's love (in both name and deed) continues to ripple outward in this world. May your Eko light the way forward as my puppy did for me. Can't wait to see the new addition - congrats!
That's is such a fantastic and touching video. My Ridgeback I think, is so missing another Ridgeback friend. Thank you for that very tender video I enjoyed it tremendously Thank you
Will I've loved your dogs, wrote about your dogs. I thought I knew as much as someone could know, being on the other side of a screen, about your dogs. But you just got me, you found a way to tell your story in a way like I'm seeing your dogs for the first time. I'm a Penny advocate and maybe that's why I cry viewing this. I get Penny. After Eko left I think people worried about Penny. Some people said so but loss is hard to talk about on Instagram. Everyone knew you were grieving and, through your posts, we were grieving with you. There's a fear of opening a wound and not being able to close it. I knew Zero as a Thanksgiving healer but you just took something I've been looking at forever, and you tilted it's angle slightly so light is hitting this familiar piece differently. That was beautiful. Cheers, Shab (founder of Project RR)
Thanks, pal….. Tomorow morning I'm going to make my Kobo happiest boy in the world….princess is coming…. Greetings from Zagreb, Croatia, EU....BR to Lincoln, Penny, Zero and Emily.
I truly hope that you continue to make videos. We’re getting a new little girl from a little that our boy studded. Definitely see the reason to get another in your recent videos!
I wish I had the space for one more Ridgie/mix. I can see the constant desire for that crazy type of play but our Shepherd only wants so much of it. Having my own home would be a blessing for Arthas and myself as we would certainly add one more crazy train to our tiny family.
This is so true in every way! My very own miss Pyxis Mayhem lights up when another RR crosses our path in the dogpark. We make doggydates so she can crash into other tanks who are as strong as she is. Once in a while, she'll have fun with a lab....but the crazyness that comes forth of a pack of RR's making the forest unsafe is unreal :) Once again your video touches me. You do so time and time again. i'm so happy I found you a couple of years back and I will continue to watch your video's, especially now that we are expecting a tiny babyboy of our own. You set the tone in love, companionship and even dealing with heartbreak.
This story is very meaningful to me. I have two Ridgebacks, Alex 9 and Jack 11. I am very concerned about how Alex will react when Jack leaves us. She is so attached to him, just like Penny was to Echo. Your story gives me hope that a new puppy will keep her going when that time comes. Thank you for these videos, even though you make me tear up more than my manhood appreciates... Happy Thanksgiving!
No easy way for your best friend to lose their best friend, too. But seeing how even my wild Penny can begin again reminds me that there is always hope. Well worthy of a few (thousand) tears!!
Just a new channel since I stopped hosting the blog through Petcentric. All the older videos can still be found via this playlist - ruclips.net/video/7H4UkjChlRM/видео.html
You can check out our video from last year "Rhodesian Ridgebacks vs Snow" to see more, but in short my guys love blasting through powder at the beach. Our trips our shorter, but still plenty of fun. And then they love napping covered in blankets afterward
Happy Thanksgiving Will and family! It sound corny but part of my thanks are for your posts... they truly lift my spirits and the fact they are so genuine is very meaningful.
My Ridgeback mentor Sandy Gordon of Diamond Ridgeback’s. Her whole life was showing dogs and breeding them. When it came to selling her puppies. She would look over the perspective person and if she didn’t like them she would Not give them a dog.. She would ask a lot of questions to the prospective buyer to try to figure out their lifestyle. And then she would pick The puppy for them.. I told her I want to big beefy alpha macho red mail Ridgeback. So she gave me a peculiar Brown that’ still to this day I’ve never seen before and female. Back then I did not have a clue. But Sandra did. She was everything I was looking for and more than I expected. Sage turned out to be an absolute legendary dog.. I was absolutely devastated when I lost her after 13 years. She was always healthy up almost to the very end. The females definitely have a more bold personality. There are way more affectionate huggy Kissy snuggling. Thy are way more manipulative too. The bane of their existence is the pursuit of food. Where I find the mails are more laid-back and a little bit more standoffish. Although I find that the males are easier to train and a lot more obedient. .After two years with Sage Sandra insisted that I need an another Ridgeback. I was hesitant at first. But once again Sandra was right it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I think it’s absolutely mandatory that you have two at any given time. For Ridgeback to flourish. As you all know by now Ridgeback is very energetic and require a very active lifestyle. As a result of it I find that my wife and I follow their lead. We take them everywhere we Can. Ridgeback‘s are probably the best thing that ever happened to me my wife and me.
I got one of these out of the pound she was a handful for people there. Had to carry her to my truck they said you can bring her back if it doesn’t work out, she is about one year old maybe 50 lbs it took a couple of days just for her to let my wife pet her but after two weeks navidad and my wife are all ways together I come home at crazy hours at times i let her know it’s me so we don’t go to battle that’s the dog I want to protect my family she is still a little Leary of me I’m a trucker so she doesn’t get why I leave then show up it’s funny I thought so was just a mutt lab but she is ridgeback
I lost both of my Ridgebacks in the past 2 months. I am just glad they lived their whole lives together
I just got my Rhodesian Ridgeback Willie last week. He actually chose me. Every night since then he sleeps with me and I have come to realize that Rhodesian Ridgebacks don't just cuddle up with you or want to lay close to you.
Poor Penny 😢 she was crying while sleeping. You should write a children's book about your dog's! You tell stories so well!!!
I started crying instantly when I saw it, because my almost 11 year old ridgeback died 5 days ago. At least he didn't suffer long.
Ridgebacks have such a specific way of playing and that means rough and energetic with lots of crashing into eah other chest to chest. I'm very sorry for your loss though I'm writing this 3 years after you posted. I'm so glad Penny has a new brother who speaks her language.
Such an awesome tribute.
Thank you
That shot of Zero and Penny leaping the fence is amazing. Bravo!
Ridgies are meant to be a pair 😍 they play so beautifully together!
Very touching. Thanks for sharing ❤

WOW That was simply fabulous brought tears to my eyes. I know you’re lucky to have those dogs BUT those dogs are so lucky to have a human such as you

Cheers,
Shab (founder of Project RR)
I love this picture about the 2 dogs.
I Always go and Cuddle my Ridgebacks Albus and Ellie after watching your Videos ..... Thanks for making them
What a beautiful love story! I smiled the entire video. Thank you for sharing. I’m about to watch it again 😊
Thank you so much for this heartwarming Video
Very poetic! Actually been thinking about getting two litter mates. Who better to stimulate a dog than a sibling or a distant cousin.
Such gorgeous animals ❤❤❤
Thanks, pal….. Tomorow morning I'm going to make my Kobo happiest boy in the world….princess is coming…. Greetings from Zagreb, Croatia, EU....BR to Lincoln, Penny, Zero and Emily.
Congrats! It can take time for a relationship to develop, but with plenty of love it will undoubtedly bloom. Good luck!
im not crying its just watery
happy holidays guys!
Love this! I have 2 RRs would love to post one of my videos...it's like a mirror of your babes!
Happy Thanksgiving for you, your family and your dogs! You make wonderful videos and I love all of them. Greetings from Austria in Europe
love it !!! i love my Rhodesian ever more !
Aaawwww made me cry 😢 & Smile 😀Thinking of my beautiful Emma
I ♥️ my Ridgebacks x
beautiful video and absolutely amazing monologue thank you for sharing
we love this video , we love Rhodesian and i have one , live in Pavia , Italy .ciao
This is so true in every way! My very own miss Pyxis Mayhem lights up when another RR crosses our path in the dogpark. We make doggydates so she can crash into other tanks who are as strong as she is. Once in a while, she'll have fun with a lab....but the crazyness that comes forth of a pack of RR's making the forest unsafe is unreal :)
Once again your video touches me.
Miss all the old videos that you guys deleted but thankful for the new ones
Just a new channel since I stopped hosting the blog through Petcentric. All the older videos can still be found via this playlist - ruclips.net/video/7H4UkjChlRM/видео.html
I love your Videos. ...I have two rhodesian. ...they are my life ❤
Could I ask for an episode on how you handle the snow and cold?
You can check out our video from last year "Rhodesian Ridgebacks vs Snow" to see more, but in short my guys love blasting through powder at the beach. Our trips our shorter, but still plenty of fun. And then they love napping covered in blankets afterward
Totally awesome video I LOVED IT....
Theyre so muscular and majestic when they run
Can’t wait to start getting some videos up of our boy!
I have a couple Rhodesians, this reminds me of when my first one passed the one left got very sad, untill we got another puppy :)))
Thx very good
Happy Thanksgiving Will and family!
It sound corny but part of my thanks are for your posts... they truly lift my spirits and the fact they are so genuine is very meaningful.
Very kind of you to say! I'm thankful to have people like you to share the adventure with
Anyone else watching this while sitting next to your own Rhodesian Rigeback❤
BTW Happy Birthday Zero!!!
Thank you for this video. My two RRs are bonded, and love each other so, so much.
Great video !
