It was still a great video. I'm glad you had time to catch up with an old friend. I'm sure you created some new memories. Be blessed. My friend.
Thx, it was a good time indeed! We will try and get a few more trips in for the season! So u may see Jimbo eat more chicken
Conditions weren't ideal but you powered through it and caught some nice ones, congratulations.
Thx. It was definitely tough. And last trip was even tougher... Holy moly. Wind was crazy the past weekend!
Looking forward to the maiden voyage of the new yak. Have to take it out so you know what you want to change.
Definitely, I will be taking it out tomorrow. I opted for the impulse drive first since I'm doing open water salt. Need the speed!
Glad to see you giving a shout out to Cooking&Fishing but wondering why you're not using his technique?
While I am not using the Same tackle.. I am using very similar techniques. We both cast up current and find bottom... Then we work it back. Pendulating is what we both do. But he knows the salt type water well. He knows how to handle current and the feel. Keep in mind that this is still somewhat newer to me. Trying to select the right weight Jig to get to bottom and then use technique can be a challenge as the contour changes and tide change. Lastly, I wasn't in control of the boat, making it tough to cast at optimal direction.
Roger is a good friend, a high level technical angler! I am not at his level lol. One day!
Checkout the strike kind redfish jigheads. They have a great keeper for Elaztech. Also what rod was that you were using?
The eye strike fishing hooks are good!
Used the Major Craft Benkei MH power
lets go
Yeee yeee!
hey what's up ! really enjoying your videos ! I had a question I was hoping you could shed some light on someone who has never fished BFS. I've only ever Surf fished the beaches of the west coast and have recently got a curado bfs xg, I was wondering whats the lightest #PE I can get away with fishing small swimbaits in the back bays?
hi hi! it depends on how large the lure you throw and how hard you throw. I use 0.6 gou for my UL and some L, but most of my BFS fishing is 0.8 gou. Leader material can be 6lb fluoro leader material, more for abrasion resistance to some of the fish. like weak fish and fluke, they got sharp cone shape teeth that won't cut line like arrow head blues, but they can still ding your line when they head shake.
@@rawrfishing really appreciate you getting back to me! ok cool I have some varivas 10lb at 0.6# :D I also have some eurotackle at 4lb/0.045mm/0.0017 would this be to thin for the curado? apologies for all the numbers im pretty confused over here 😅
I would say Eurotackle line are pretty fragile due to how thin they are. I would likely not use that thin or fragile since a big fish could hit lol. but given that you are in the bay, at least you don't have much problems keeping it in structure. Even the sand in the surf and the wave are considered things that would pull your line hard, making your line susceptible to snapping since it got zero stretch. So while we are at it, I usually up my line for the surf. I use 0.8 gou to 1 gou depending on how heavy i cast and the fish size i target using finesse gears. Yeah i know.. 1 gou is a lot and its what i use for my standard fluke fishing on surf, but when u got that big fish and that wave is pulling it back into the ocean... SNAP! Happened a few times already >_
Just got me a Bfs Saltwater set up! What's the lure rating you considered to be Power bfs fishing?
Oh snaps! I am using 0.8 gou and lure ranges between 5 to 12 grams. Leader is 8 to 10 lbs. Surf power finesse fishing coming up
@rawrfishing Nice...thanks for quick reply just got me a Cheap Saltwater bfs set up from Aliexpress...just to see how I like Saltwater bfs fishing...if everything goes as plan might upgrade after but Saltwater fishing pound for pound here in San Diego is hard fighting fish! Then again thanks for quick reply....last question I'm going to throw most likely around 6 to 9 gram is that considered bfs fishing?
Yes that's still bfs. It's controversial what is bfs or not. But I simply take the approach of UL, L and some ML rods and just go by what the lure ratings of the rod.
Keep in mind that bfs fishing is not hard in stone... Enthusiasts/elitests will tell u otherwise, but this niche is still young and evolving. Keep it around 12 grams and under and it's bait finesse on a ML rod and below!
