Since korg took over in 92', the quality of these amps has been truly excellent. Regardless of where these are now made, they are much more reliable and truer to the JMI era type of sound that people love. The cc models where you could blend the vintage and top boost channels sound epic. An awesome amp all around.
Yep , this did come with the alnico blues , got one here. Have had a few issues with volume changing by itself slightly , also when it’s been sitting turned on for a while there is slight crackling that shouldn’t be there . Changed all the tubes to golden lions but no change . Most the time I just use a fender blues junior I got second hand
hot / cool does not bypass the master volume. but you are correct the jump in volume is significant. the tone stack is removed as you say, but the tone cut control is still effective.
Excellent review, thank you for showing the internals of the amp. I have been reading that some owners have lowered the mains smoothing caps from 47uf to 22uf along with adding grid resistors to stop blocking distortion and a few other changes. Any thoughts on that.
Everyone wants to talk about this amp, but no one every plays the damn thing. The only conclusion I can draw is it must sound horrible if everyone associated with it will not let it be heard.
Until you said Viet Nam I was reaching for my wallet! Not now! I'll pay more for HW USA made! So many farming out to 3rd world! A disgrace to Great Britain and USA craftsmanship! We both won both bloody world wars!
+Robert A That's right pal, buy those USA made amps that use exactly the same parts as overseas made amps, that's the way. Just an amp on it's tone, not where the made - and that war comment was unnecessary, besides America only turned up halfway through each.
For a week now I have been torn between a VOX AC30C2X and an Orange AD30TC. From what I found out, the VOX is made in China, and the Orange is made in the UK. I gave my money to Orange.
Finally, a play free talk video, with all the info one could get off the Vox site or any retail outlet.

Brian May certainly got some tremendous sounds from these amps back in the 1970s, especially on their Sheer Heart Attack album.

Good choice.
Not interested in an off shore copy! Give me British- made or forget it!
Most modern British manufacturing is absolute rubbish. Can't even build their own cars anymore.
