"(Not) Getting Married Today" deserves a mention...Emma Pillsbury's manic delivery of one of the most notoriously difficult patter-songs from Broadway is no joke...very few can pull it off!
Watching Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Morrison duet to Aerosmith will always be nothing short of iconic. I would never be able to reach those epic high notes, though! 😂
Don't Rain On My Parade is still ICONIC and should be in the top 10. Glee introduced that song to a new generation of audiences and Lea set a high bar for it. Should also include To Love You More, probably Rachel's best solo in the show. She literally held the last note for 20 seconds in one breath. Faithfully doesn't get a lot of credit, it's very difficult to sing and the fact that Cory and Lea managed to sing the entire song and sustain the high notes is nothing short of incredible. Listen to the full 4 minute version for the whole experience. Should also include Like A Prayer and The Scientist, both Glee versions I love a lot more than the original versions. Plus the song that won them Nationals, Paradise By The Dashboard Light and It's All Coming Back to Me Now ❤ ❤ ❤
Agreed. She may have been a pain behind the scenes, but she KILLED it and made her version of Don't Rain on my Parade her own and not just an homage to Babs.
the fact that Amber Riiley won an Oliver award for playing Effy in the London west end performances of Dreamgirls, proves that the song is a blessing for everyone who can pull it off!!!
@porfiriodiazcarillo7551 Except, Amber missed so many performances (last-minute announcements that she wouldn't be appearing and that her understudy would be on as Effy instead) that the production - otherwise a hit - ended up losing money, thanks to all the people, show after show, who'd bought high-priced tickets but then demanded refunds when they arrived at the Savoy Theatre for a performance & were told that Amber was out... again. Amber had pneumonia at one point and announced a medical leave so she could recover (not her fault, could happen to anyone), but even after she returned to the production and was theoretically performing again, she took so many last-minute days off that the show's producers were stuck making excuses for her... and returning money to ticketholders who'd bought high-priced premium seats, hoping to see Amber performing live. I don't know what was happening to Amber during that "Dreamgirls" run, but despite giving an Olivier-winning performance in a famously difficult role, she sadly now has a reputation in the theater community as being unreliable as a live performer. Right now there are no announced plans to bring that Dreamgirls production to Broadway - even though Amber has even more fans in the US than she does in the UK - possibly because producers are afraid to cast her in a role that requires her to show up & perform 8 shows a week (or even just 5 shows a week, with an alternate doing matinees so the star doesn't have to sing 2 shows in one day). That's because when Amber was there & singing it was amazing, but she let down so many audiences by not showing up that producers are afraid to cast her... for good reason.
Paradise by the Dashboard Light also deserves a mention. It's one of the hardest songs in the show and the entire cast was so proud of Cory for pulling it off. As does Don't Rain On My Parade, the only song cut from the Glee Concert because Lea herself doubted her ability to perform it on a nightly basis. And while the song was cut, Lea's went on record to say that I Was Here by Beyonce was the hardest song she recorded. As people have said, too, Not Getting Married Today & Faithfully deserve shoutouts, too.
Paradise probably had Cory's best vocals on the show, he really pulled it off so well. I Was Here shouldn't have been cut, I loved the graduating episode but it should've been split in two episodes.
Will singing "Fix you" to Emma is such a beautiful moment and probably the only moment I can 100% see why they were meant to be. "Dream on" is an epic moment from Glee!
Also any song w Adam Lambert (just like the songs w Jonathan Groff) was impressive as well as Santana’s Valerie, Songbird, basically (very similar to AR & LM) everything she sang was fabulous! Altho Bohemian Rhapsody would definitely have been my #1 choice & tbh, Dream On would likely have been #2. Lastly, the complete lack of DC songs is incomprehensible, his Cough Syrup was beyond memorable, as well as well, everything else.
I think people forget Adam Lambert was on this show, and he and Kurt nail “I believe in a Thing Called Love”. That’s an incredibly hard song to sing. It’s originally done falsetto but they belt it. Also, Smooth Criminal is very hard to sing as is Not Getting Married. Maybe ten is just not enough because there’s several more I can think of. I Have Nothing, Ain’t No Way, Barracuda, and All By Myself. There’s more. Fighter, La Jazz Hot - the note at the end- not easy. Hey Jude- Darren hits a Bb5. Basically, this is suck a talent cast and they make it look easy.
I think My Man should be higher on this list. It’s one of the most difficult musical theatre songs ever, and Lea fucking kills it. There is a reason why the song is rarely performed. I would have it in the top three, at least.
Totally agree, honestly not many can do the song justice or even touch it because it's very difficult. Lea even sang it in front of Barbra herself. Then again msmojo only included don't rain on my parade in honourable mentions....
Dream on is amazing, i still listen this version more than the aerosmith original and also get it right & as long as you're there from the original song episode & cough syrup by Darren Criss
the one i think is missing is “I Have Nothing” sung by Kurt in season 3. Chris Colfer mentioned in an interview that it was the hardest song he had to do in the whole show, and i think he nailed it.
This was such a great video to watch. It brought back a lot of wonderful memories I had with my teenage daughter, who is now 26. We found an abandoned 2 week old kitten the year it premiered, which she still has, and named him Finn. We both cried when Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson, and was there since the beginning, passed 😢. Thank you so much for posting 😊.
You should do a "More of the Hardest Glee Songs to Sing" and then feature the songs mentioned in the comments as well as I Know Where I've Been from season 6, sung by Alex Newell!
Wow a actual good list of glee songs that I agree with all of yes glee was really problematic I guess but it’s my favorite show of all time no exceptions and I will defend it forever
I am sad and really surprised to see Naya Rivera's Santana is not on this list. I can't think of songs off hand she's sung but were very difficult ones, which she pulled off like a pro.
If I may add another mention in the form of Kurt's take on "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". Okay I know what you are thinking that it is easy but in my case, I can't sing this where the first time it aired, my dad was having heart surgery and sadly, he would have been 75 this year. Is that reason enough?
As crazy and obsered as the Bo Rap number is, I love it! The choreography is great. This is when they were at their best. What does the fox say is weird in a bad way. The worst number they ever did.
MsMojo forgot to mention Total Eclipse of the Heart was also on the season five 100 soundtrack (recorded by Will and April, just not performed in the show)
I’m sorry but I refuse to believe “River deep, mountain high” is not on here, Mercedes riff and how high the chorus goes, how is it not mentioned whatsoever
That's interesting because it sounds to me like it's Matthew. I can't really hear Neil in it at all. (But I'm not an expert so I could be wrong also.) 🤷🏼♀️
i also am not an expert and could easily be wrong but in an interview neil said how the hardest part of glee was hitting the high notes but he could have been talking about the other less high ones@@kfemme68
@@crenner07 interesting but ok. Like I said, I'm not an expert so I'll go with it. I guess maybe I just hear Matthew's voice more because it's not as high???? Who knows 🤔 maybe that's possible? Or maybe my ears are just giving out, lol. I know there are experts on RUclips that could tell us and prove it easily but I don't know any of them personally so I'll just go with what everyone else thinks. Thanks for letting me know what NPH has said about it.
Pretty accurate list. However, I wish you credited and named the actors/singers instead of the characters. They deserve all the recognition , specially Amber Riley
i did don’t rain on my parade for my highschool talent show and shocked my family who had never heard me sing like that. I kinda blacked out while singing it but the video was great
According to the commennts i think glee chose the hardest songs ever made to put in the series. There are so many good singers and tough songs either in the video and in the comments
I recall glee never singing live. Wasn't the song recorded before in a studio and then just slapped under the episode. So it wasn't sung and danced at the same time.
I'd throw Santana in there too, because while she doesn't hit the notes Mercedes and Kurt can, when it comes to the more soul/R&B tracks, she really shines
I'm not even a minute in and you already messed it up. Will sings "Fix You" to Emma because she has a mental illness, OCD, and it's causing her a lot of anxiety about their relationship. It's one of my favorite scenes from the show.
Fix You, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Spotlight, Dream On, Natural Woman, I Will Always Love You, and Bohemian Rhapsody are nowhere near the hardest songs to sing that Glee's ever made. It's like no one on the staff ever watched the show, jesus.
Something i hated in glee was due to timing restrains, i just wish they were able to play the entire verisons of the songs, and not just a small portion of the songs
the Video is not so old to know , that Amber Riley won an Olivier Award lfor her Effie in Dreamgirls later slaying it 6 shows a week in London . I was there to witness, the whole house standing-ovation immediatly !

Saving All My Love For You
All the times they sung 🎶You🎶 I can't sing without my cracking. Talented people.
I thought it would’ve been “Take Me or Leave Me”.
Literally Emma pillsbury did not run from her wedding singing one of broadway’s most hilarious song for y’all to leave her off
I was about to say pretty much the same thing!@@xariadavis1875

"(Not) Getting Married Today" deserves a mention...Emma Pillsbury's manic delivery of one of the most notoriously difficult patter-songs from Broadway is no joke...very few can pull it off!
Not to mention, she had to do the verses in 2 breaths?! Like, What?! Did Jayma streamline Espresso that day?!
Facts
I said this too
Watching Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Morrison duet to Aerosmith will always be nothing short of iconic. I would never be able to reach those epic high notes, though! 😂
On top of that, Matt was sick when he and Neil recorded the track!
I cannot reach those high notes as well😅🎤
Would you say it was Legend… wait for it, Dary?!
crazy NPH high note at the end there
Dream on is dramatic
Don't Rain On My Parade is still ICONIC and should be in the top 10. Glee introduced that song to a new generation of audiences and Lea set a high bar for it. Honestly. Every time I hear Mercedes singing that and I Will Always Love You, I get CHILLS!
She is Aretha's successor in my eyes 😍❤
That is so awesome

Glee 50 years later
Jonathan Groff absolutely nailed it! Bohemian Rhapsody is number 1, no doubt!

I love me some Amber Riley but there are some Santana moments missing from this list. And Gangnam Style. Poor Tina.

YESSS
YES!
ooh.. OMG.. yesss
For real...that song is no joke when it comes to the notes Whitney is hitting in there, and only the most trained singers should attempt it
One of the worst cover on Glee for sure
I loved Glee then and miss it today.
“We are young” deserves to be here it’s one of the best covers, there i said it.!!
Don’t Rain on My Parade is soo hard!
I always remember Mercedes' "I wanna know what love is" and the Duett of "Give your heart a break" ❤
Faithfully, the duet with Michelle and Corey is so hard to sing. The range and stability you need is insane.
Thank you! Their vocals were excellent, I still listen to it constantly cause they fucking killed it 🔥🔥
I saw Matthew Morrison in concert back in 2016, and it was absolutely perfect! I would do it again in a heartbeat!
This was such a great video to watch. It brought back a lot of wonderful memories I had with my teenage daughter,

My Man is one of the most striking performances in Glee. It gives me chills every single time
Justice for “Ain’t No Way”, “To Love You More”, and “Getting Married Today”
You should do a "More of the Hardest Glee Songs to Sing" and then feature the songs mentioned in the comments as well as I Know Where I've Been from season 6, sung by Alex Newell!
Surprised "Not Getting Married Today" didnt make the list
I'm surprised, too. One needs a great deal of breath to rush through that. Even I cannot breeze through it...let alone perfect Mercedes' solo verses.
Wow a actual good list of glee songs that I agree with all of yes glee was really problematic I guess but it’s my favorite show of all time no exceptions and I will defend it forever
Total eclipse of the heart is my favorite
Jonathan Groff is EVERYTHING ❤❤❤
The most stunning part of the Dream On performance is the local theater director not casting Brian Ryan in a lead role.
Saving All My Love For You
All the times they sung 🎶You🎶 I can't sing without my cracking. Talented people.
I have so much love for this programme. And especially now I watch it to remember Cory & Naya.
Pretending and to love you more, rolling in deep should 100% should of been on there
I am sad and really surprised to see Naya Rivera's Santana is not on this list. I can't think of songs off hand she's sung but were very difficult ones, which she pulled off like a pro.
She outdid Rachael with a rendition of ‘Don’t Rain on my Parade’ later in the series, imho !
Like Alfie. It's a dying only the best singers have done.

Amber Riley (Mercedes Jones) ain’t no way by Aretha Franklin!!! So underrated
Fix you is one of my favorite songs!
How about "I Know Where I've Been" by Unique? I actually think Alex Newell did a better job that Queen Latifa.
As crazy and obsered as the Bo Rap number is, I love it! The choreography is great. This is when they were at their best. What does the fox say is weird in a bad way. The worst number they ever did.
Nice ❤ u should make one with glee best girlfriends
Maybe I'm weird but I prefer Carol King's version of "Natural Woman" maybe because I listened to it so much when her Tapestry album came out.
MsMojo forgot to mention Total Eclipse of the Heart was also on the season five 100 soundtrack (recorded by Will and April, just not performed in the show)
I know where I've been deserves to be on this list. Unique most underrated vocalist
Where's "Bring Him Home?!" This list is missing Santana's "Valerie" and "Girl on Fire."
I’m sorry but I refuse to believe “River deep, mountain high” is not on here, Mercedes riff and how high the chorus goes, how is it not mentioned whatsoever
I could never tell who was singing the high note in the dream on song
im pretty sure its neil patrick harris but i could be wrong

Faithfully
Dream on, but not the high note at the end

Not Getting Married Today

Creep
Rose's Turn
Let It Go
i did don’t rain on my parade for my highschool talent show and shocked my family who had never heard me sing like that. I kinda blacked out while singing it but the video was great

I know im late but how about when rachel sings its all coming back to me know at nationals
I just love Jonathan Groff
I’m surprised Santana wasn’t on here at all. Naya Rivera and Amber Riley were two of the most talented singers on the show imo
Amber Riley will always reign supreme in my books!! Her voice always gives me literal chills.
Not Getting Married Today was a masterpiece not soon forgotten!!

Mercedes and Kurt are the best singers They should have been the main focus of Glee

Rose's Turn should have at least gotten an honorable mention
Amber and Mercedes *ICONIC*
