    Couldn’t agree more with everything you said in this video. I myself have a 2011 3.7 v6 with intake, exhaust, gears, headers and tune and it’s a real fun car. At the end of the day i could sell this car tomorrow for 10k and buy a clean 2v or 3v v8 and not spend anything additional out of pocket but I choose not to cause it’s my car and I like it. No one else’s opinion matters about YOUR car and if other people don’t like it it’s not your problem

    What is interesting about the later model 3.8L found in the New Edge Mustangs is that its only 12 hp less than the prior FOX body 5.0L V8. Further, if one were to make some simple upgrades (cold air intake and updated exhaust) the 3.8L, hp would increase 8 to 10 percent (16 to 20) hp. which is slightly more than that 5.0L.
    So the later 3.8L (Split Port) is not a bad choice by any means.
    Add to that some minor chassis tuning (Heavy Front and rear sway bars, Improved shocks and shock mounts, maybe Delrin bushings), a manual gear box (T 3650), larger brakes, with 20" wheels, and you have yourself a decent corner carver for very little money.
    That said, It stands to reason that a tired V6 (lots of miles on it) would need to be rebuilt in order to reach past the 200 Hp threshold.
    Its still a worthwhile project
    Cars are not about HP only.... they are about balance...
    An engine that can reach its max torque in the 2300 to 3200 rpm range is, an engine which will give one that push they desire, while navigating the apex of a turn. An engine which delivers it torque and HP at 5000 rpm will never be able to move the car through the twisties with adequate power.
    The Essex V6 and other push rod engines, were about torque, not hp.
    The 5.0L V8 would make 193 RWhp at 4600 Rpm... However its heart lived in its torque ... 277 ft/lbs at 3000 Rpm

      I grew up with a 1990 fox body 5.0 and a 2000 3.8. The 5.0 is literally 4 seconds quicker in the 0-60. A lot more than hp matters like how fast you make that power.

    First off I wanna say my comments are for new edge ONLY. I'm a new edge dude. I don't care to own any other car or mustang at this point. The body does it for me as far as cars with a back seat. And I feel the interior is fun to be in. The v6 is the best car for the streets. Im talking about putting some miles on it. I live in Texas... so I'm talking real driving. Like to go just about anywhere is like 30 mins ONE way. Let me drop these facts. I had a procharged mach 1 dyno at 468 to REAR WHEELS. I currently have three gts. One gt is cammed with nos...420 to REAR tires. Facts about my v6 that l love. It's a 5 spd. Thing will take off from a dead stop in 3 gear. Best thing is crazy good gas mileage. Next...I have a stage 3 clutch on it. I rev it to 3500 rmp and dump it just about every time I drive it. I have embarrassed many around my parts from a dead stop. Got that driver mod my good man. Has cold air intake, headers, high flow cats, high flow mufflers and a tune. Sitting on 295 tires all around and very sticky. I currently have and will be adding soon. Gt rear end with posi traction...I believe that's the factory 8.8. And 345 tires in the rear. Yes three forty-five... they will fit with minor modifications. I run them on my gt that is cammed with nos currently. Got pics to prove. Spinning...ain't winning. Power without traction is not effective.

    I have a not so stock 1989 5.0 hatchback and a 1996 sixer with a 2000 split port engine swapped in. The fox body feels slower until you lay on the pedal, but for some reason the V6 just *wants* to go. It feels more "zippy" at low speeds. It's hard to explain other than that.

    I blew a V6 motor back in the day, me and a buddy were racing eachother through a small town and i floored it the entire time in a low gear with almost redline RPM and within about 15 minutes i felt a huge drop in power and it started knocking, i kept driving it like that until the knock was so loud it threw a rod lol so yeah its possible to blow them up. It had 180,000 miles on it with cheap oil, could of had another internal issue i didnt know about like bad oil pump or pick up... I have a 2002 GT now and it's not super fast but i love how the 4.6 sounds... v6 is a good daily

      Almost the same as me 😂😂 I was driving back from Virginia raced a Tiburon and just held it at redline for miles lolol 186k but yea only blew a head gasket but drove that sucker all the way back to nj. Threw a used jasper in it and drove it till I got my gt.

  • @avgFloridian
    @avgFloridian 5 месяцев назад

    The later ones tend to be better. I had a few of the earlier ones (1984). One was blown when I got it (could hear the rod bouncing off the oil pan), and another blew the head gaskets. The current one seems to be solid. Good daily driver. Terrible mileage. 😅 I am just going to keep cleaning this one up and driving it until the truck is drivable, then sell it. The biggest downside is finding replacement parts for the V6 cars. A lot of stuff isn't available, and half of what is costs three times as much as the V8 stuff. My neighbor with a V6 Firebird from the same era has the same problem.
