@@Thedaubertfamily I think they're gonna be okay, other then some heated election tactics going on there right now the city is handling everything really well and planned well in advance for a disaster such as this to hit so they look like they're gonna survive.
I was born and raised in the Gardens! miss it so much. i always visit my Aloha elementary, lived in Hawaiian Gardens apts. hung out on Juan ST. some of my greatest and scariest moments of my life. hated they changed the name of Killingsworth, but i did know the principle they named it after, he was cool, i was in his office a lot.. haha! I left in 1991. anyone who was there during the 80's and 90's hope your all doing great!. sadly many friends either died or ended up in the pinta. happy I got out when i did, i guess.
I still remember my uncles had a friend in the 80s that was always hanging out and they always called him burrito. Eventually I found out they just messed with him and called him that because his dad owned "The green burrito". His name was Ruben.
My father opened up a taqueria called taqueria La Playita back in the late 80's on Norwalk st but then sold it to tacos papucho. Taqueros from tacos San Pedro used to work for us. Good memories. 👍
It would be nice to see in this video more residents from the city in our parks, I lived there most of my life and had rock fights, when Clarkdale park was being built. Raised on the dead end of seine Street.
right there with you man our Rock frights were on Verne Avenue our landlords were the compost family and the Hernandez Family and we were part of the family
It’s good to see what Myra is doing for the city. I went to high school with her,she used to date a buddy of mine named Jon. I lived in Hg/Lakewood my whole life.
It's crazy howmutch time change I remember when I was still a kid Hawaiian garden was more ghetto and we had a gang problem we were known for are gang and some of are restaurant I remember some of the crazy thing that whent down but not as much as my sisters they are older then me so they seen more.
People use to go out of the city too to other towns of stores though some are from the city. They built something over the Fwy area or by the Arco but etc took their seats by the liquor or apartments of Pioneer Blvd but me I was fine at home or a few blocks away.
I too grew up in Hawaiian Gardens California the 605 Freeway was there when I was a little kid and I was born in 57 all the roads were either asphalt or concrete so I don't know where this councilman gets that maybe from using too much Oil of Olay had to do it
Thank you! This city ended up telling a much better story then we imagined, very satisfied with this video and happy to hear that most of the negative things certain residents had said about them were just nonsense!

TSP used to be good . Its ok now.
Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed watching this...
Awesome video, very interesting information about this place! Wow covid changed so much.
Yeah it really wrecked so many places and businesses, thankfully many like the Gardens Casino are finding ways to operate around it now.
The Tale of 10,000 Cities so unfortunate, hopefully they will be able to survive during this time.

Awesome video. I’m a long time resident and I love my city.
Awesome! I'm really glad we got a chance to see it and talk to the people we did there, too bad the casino wasn't open while we were there.

I miss The Green Burrito in Hawaiian Gardens, wish they never sold out.
Ciro's pizza too
Green Burrito was awesome.
Rico's pizza was the best pizza I ever had.

Seems like a great place to live. Nice!
They really made the best of the situations they've faced over the years, very hardy people with a lot of pride!
Lol why don't you tell the truth. Hawaiian Gardens is one of the most crime ridden places you can live in.
@@troothhoortz3630 I've lived here all my life and not once have I experienced any crime.

What a CLEAN looking city !! Like Wow !!
The palm trees really add a lot to the look of the main streets!
The streets and bushes are well taken care of. No trash, I only really saw/noticed one older vacant area (behind tree podium). Wow ! Nice to see
It's sometime dirty and fill with homeless people near the freeway and it's usually dirty in coyote creek

Little times or little purposes of little laughs but it's a good life or places too go out too "visit" nearby. "....."

No one mentioned VHGR to us.
