I’ve seen multiple stories like this about Strawberry that don’t mention that he achieved sobriety and has dedicated his life to help others, including Gooden, overcome addiction.
You make a good point. Strawberry has seemingly turned the corner. Thank you for the comment!
👍.
Coulda swore i heard about one of 'em, i can't remember which, getting locked up for coke possession just a few years ago.
@unkledoda420 probably doc. About that time ago straw said he was worried doc was relapsing, tho doc denied it.
These two were the reason I became a baseball fan. Their departures from the Mets were severely disappointing but they remain at the top of my favorite players of all-time.
These guys were two of my favorites as well. I just wish it could’ve ended better for both of them. Thank you for sharing!
As a Mets fan, it's sad to watch this, they were a duo promissor. Nice video, bro.
I agree. So much wasted talent. They could have anchored the Mets roster for years. They should have won more than 1 World Series. Thank you for the comment!
One of The very best duos in the history of New York sports
@@sgtslaughter21 at their peak they were unbelievable
My childhood hero. Darryl Strawberry 🍓
Awesome as always!
Thanks!
Two of the greatest Mets of all times
Absolutely
I loved watching these 2 play ball. Doc came into a bar i used to work at and he came up to me and asked me something and I just stood there like a idiot for a few seconds. Very cool guy
I loved watching them too. Great players with so much wasted talent unfortunately. That is a great story…I probably would have done the same thing. Thank you for the comment!
@@BBUYTTV you definitely got a new follower 😄
@@jamesgeschwender2276 awesome! Thank you! We publish twice a week on Monday and Friday. If you ever have any videos you would like to see made shoot them our way and we will consider them!
Probably a more fitting title is a temporary tragic duo. Could be Tragic, Redemptive Duo. They both turned it around in their personal lives. Doc struggled more with relapses. He seems to be on the right path now.
Good point. They both seem to doing better than they have in years.
Legends
Strawberry had something like 325 career hrs despite the time he missed. 🍓
Impressive, just wish we could have seen the full potential play out. Thank you for the comment!
Doc has a borderline HOF case. Jack Chesbro got into the HOF for having one dominant season in 1904 and several other good but not great seasons. Docs resume is similar. I would argue Docs overall numbers are slightly better.
@@JonsCardVault I would also add, Doc’s best season is one of the best seasons by a starting pitcher of all time
Well made and edited, I’m new to creation and if you or anyone has any advice on how to make better content and what tools to use I would appreciate it greatly, much love all
I still love Gooden!!!
Me too!
Gooden should be in HOF and was kicked off the ballot because people judged him some of the things he said in his book.
I am a big fan of Gooden and he had a few of the best years of all time, but I don't think he sustained excellence long enough to warrant being in the HOF. I wasn't aware of him being kicked of the ballot because of a book. Thank you for your comment!
I agree with you 💯.
How am I an hour late but the first like bruh u so underrated
Great video, those mets teams shoulda won more unfortunately
Thank you! A lot of wasted potential for sure!
if they had the play off format like now the mets win the world series 84-86
Maybe. That would have been great!
Don't do drugs.
No doubt, the wasted talent of these two guys is a perfect example of that.
These 2 broke history you’ll never see anyone there age do what they did and put a team of grown men in there 30s on there back while under 21 years old “ doesn’t matter about there off the field “ They still are goats and how come they only followed black kids I’m sure there are other people on that team that got those kids started come on “
They were definitely great! I loved watching them play
