AMAZING Performance. BROADWAY/HOLLYWOOD/BLACK & WHITE Americans praying and singing during the race riots. Elvis was way ahead of his time. DECADES. MTV took notes here. Elvis was BORN at a TIME & place to CREATE CHANGE. His ability to re-ARRANGE written lyrics of others into LIFE-ALTERING MUSIC GENRE FLUIDITY was revolutionary, no one ever was more talented at fusing music genres of black and white cultures.
Thank you for keeping Elvis alive for a younger audience. RIP sweet beautiful man.
dune autre planète set pour sa qui a qu'n seul Elvis 😇💞👽💥💥💫💫👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏
You cand find better singer in every styles but you can t find a singer could sing so well every styles like him
Elvis was very into gospel..He was two when he started singing in the church and he took off like a freight train..He loved all music but gospel was his best love...He could touch your soul with any song. But if your a lover of soul, this was your man.. Always Elvis.Thank u
This gospel production is actually a combination of 3 gospel songs : "Where Could I Go But To The Lord?"/"Up Above My Head"/"Saved"
Elvis grew up in the Baptist church... he loved Gospel music.. his faith meant a lot to him.. and he put a rock n roll sound to it.. but he never strayed from his roots in gospel and the black community...
Nobody could sing gospel like Elvis
🤔
If this doesnt get you jumping around. You're officially dead. LoL 🤣
Well Elvis just took us to church ,this man can definetly put a smile on your face
Elvis lead the way. He reached audiences far and wide with his marvellous, ahead of time style. 👌💕🕺
Elvis ... singing the music he loved ... the music that made him happy ! TCB forever !
The G.O.A.T……. = 👑 Elvis
Elvis’s personal favourite genre of music was always Gospel. As a child he grew up in a ghetto in Tupelo, called Shake a rag. He went to church with his parents and took to loving the gospel music. He always included a gospel production in his performances and after his shows, his friends and musicians said they would be up til 3or 4 in the morning singing gospel songs with Elvis.
He won his only Grammies for his Gospel song “How Great thou Art” and the album of that name. You can tell from the fact that he sings with his heart and soul that he believed.
Thank you so much for looking at yet another aspect of this phenomenal man. 👌💕🕺🙏
The beautiful rendition of Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child was by the fabulous Darlene Love. In 1968 Darlene was part of the Blossoms, the female backing vocalists in this Special.
Later she played Danny Glover's wife in Lethal Weapon starring Mel Gibson.
------------------ well, Elvis also said in a couple other interviews (1970/71 and 1972), his biggest influences went well beyond just blues music, he mentioned how he mixed Country Music with R&B. Doing this DE-segregated our music, and it was more universally popular around the globe than just blues. Lot's of folks mistake blues for Rock & Roll, although it sometimes overlaps (just as country does with rock), it really evolved from contributions by everyone (and every genre) since American Music began, so it did not just come from one source.
Elvis' biggest influences were also pop crooners, Bing Crosby and especially
DEAN MARTIN, not to mention Operatic Balladier Mario Lanza. These names are lost on the current generation of music listeners.
As for Gospel, , there are 2 sides of the isle that ran parallel over the early years, blues related gospel, and traditional gospel (eurpean & colonial American hymns). Elvis' first singing was not done in the minority church, as we are led to beleive in the recent bio-pic. Instead it was in Tuepelo Miss in his family's own church (as segregation existed in that time). At age 14, long before Elvis recorded, he went to a traditional all-night hymn sing, and here is where he met JD Sumner of the Blackwood Quartet. Artists like him, the Statesmen, Imperials, Hovi Lyster, etc were also influencial in Elvis Gospel.
Conclusion, Elvis' version of gospel (or any genre) was all inclusive. He put it all into a big pot and mixed it up, and her served us gospel gumbo, a little bit of everything.
This production always puts a smile on my face 😊 just stunning! Everyone on that stage was..MAGICAL!
Beautiful arrangment! Love his background singers, and Elvis is absolutely outstanding!! So gorgeous!!!
Elvis was a hard worker and put everything in his performances...for his fans meant alot to him. Thank you for this reaction.
Thanks for tuning in
I remember in the sixties texas wanted him to come and do a concert and they told him to not bring the black girls just him come and he told them he wasn't coming without his girl's so they agreed to it and Elvis got a convertible and he would drive all down town with the girls showing them off so proudly and I loved it
Wow
Will only ever be one Elvis
Elvis's first love has always been gospel..God live him I do think if he had lived to be older gospel is mainly what he'd be doing..RIP beautiful man 💙
Yes....tender and soulful to powerful and demanding, but also from gospel to rock (which was his main thesis). This medley showed how soul and gospel can lead right into rock and roll. The background singers remained in gospel mode but Elvis took the lead heavily into what rock and roll was for that time, place, and year. So what we were hearing was both gospel and rock at the same time blended perfectly. Could he have taken it into heavy metal? I believe he would have if it had existed at that time.
I loved to watch this beautiful part of the comeback specialwith you!
💚🌞
EP IS FIRE 🔥🔥 The Comeback Special cast is amazing! 🔥🔥
Gives me chills every time. He made me believe in god.
I watched this when it happened. Mesmerized. Loved the whole special as much as your expressions showed you like this production. "Southern" Gospel music can be electic dependinging on the church & the choir or person signing. Elvis Fan Forever❤
Elvis won 3 Grammys. For his 3 Gospel Albums
Elvis is better without dancers, just him and back up singers
Thank you 🙏 Thank you very much 😊
Wow is right!!! Awesome Awesome reaction my man! 🤜 🤛
I would rather hear Elvis in concert than this.
Then go watch it
Thank you so much for playing this in full. Yes it's definitely gospel. The show was about the holy ghost. That's why they were repeatedly saying "I'm saved" .. he grew up singing gospel. You should watch Elvis in the black community, his gospel roots are shown on there & fully explained. I can see you're a bit perplexed.
But what a good reaction And a very brautiful friendly, smiley face you have.
If you want more subscribers .. play Elvis 🙂
thank you for watching..more Elvis coming..
Loved it. It is because if you listen to it, it is the holy ghost .. "I'm saved" "I'm saved" .. straight the Holy ghost They were all singing rededemption.
As he described at the start, rock and roll came from gospel and rhythm and blues. The performance tried to show that from starting as a traditional gospel sound to a more rock gospel sound 😊
Great reaction !!
Of course it's gospel!! Good lord!
Super ELVIS SHAZAM +++ HalLeLu YAHshua +++++++
Yes, this is a gospel show. He's singing " Where could I go but to the Lord" and "I'm Saved". It was part of the '68 Comeback Special T.V. show, so they added dancers fully clad, and wonderful singers. Gospel is the music that made Elvis happy, he said so. Very nice reaction. Please react to Elvis singing How Great Thou Art live in 1977. He sang this at his 2nd last concert, 8 weeks before he passed. Powerful vocals. Thank you.
