I can't express how good your teaching is. When you are describing mechanics, I can just feel what you are saying in my body. I returned to baseball in my 50s and play in a local men's league, and with your videos I have gone from being clueless to being a pretty consistent hitter in the cage at a variety of speeds (50-80, about what I see in the league). Thank you.

Thanks Matt, this video is very helpful. Holding onto a broom handle or long PVC pipe touching the ground, while my son loads then strides, also helped him to keep his hands in the correct position.

im coaching u12 and visualizing the strike zone itself is quite a big matter for them. thought of d.i.y-ing a tee that has a box on top to help them 'see' the strike zone.. and then this video came up. thank you so much! will definitely try your methods out. please keep sharing useful coaching videos, sir! you rock!

I coach 12 u travel team. We have 3 boys who drop hands right b4 swinging. Start out nice n high but almost as a defensive mechanism of fear of ball.. which causes them to be late on ball..

Hey Matt, would love to see a video around the high tee drill. I coach a 8U team and a lot of the balls come in around the chest area and are called strikes. I notice a lot of kid’s hands are under the ball and they have a hard time getting on top of the ball. Curious to hear your thoughts on this and any other drills you have to help with this at a young age.

"Swing changes don't happen over night"...werd. Corbin Carroll hurt his shoulder last season and it seemed to have changed his swing...may have only been subconscious but it was enough to make him suck at the plate. He went from rookie of the year to batting under 200. Terrible. But he said he was working on it. The coach said he's been busting his ass. MONTHS went by. Working on it. Trying to change his swing plane. Working on it working on it. FINALLY, just yesterday, it seems he's back. He drove in 5 of our 6 runs, including a pound of grand salami. I knew he'd figure it out and I knew it'd take time. And time, it took.

Does anything change for fast pitch softball vs baseball?

My son NEVER drops hands during tee work, soft toss, front toss, coach pitch BP.
Then, in the game, almost every time, a pitcher throws a pitch his hands drop, and the body moves forward and then he swings.
Totally different and power-sapping hitting mechanic reserved only for game time.
    What is a good fix?
    Thanks!

Talk about the skunk in the outfield play.
