STORY TIME (please read it )
Hwang Chi Yeol debuted in 2007, releasing two albums and appearing in some TV and radio shows for about a year, but his career came to a halt because his management company closed. After that he was forced to stop his activities and worked as a vocal coach, teaching idol bands including Infinite, After School, Lovelyz, NU'EST, and Hello Venus. After living as a nameless singer for 9 years he decided to appear in the show I CAN SEE YOUR VOICE (every singer can appear only once) and that's when his life started to take a turn . Many people started showing interes in him and he was invited in another show (Immortal Song 2) wich made him really famous in korea . In his 3rd apparence (the theme of the episode was family ) on the show he sang Father dedicated to his father who had suffered from cancer and who didn't want him to do music and GUESS WHAT he won the trophy
Because of fame he gained from Immortal Song he was invited in I am a singer China , which not only grew his popularity but made him one of the most loved artists in China
He then in 2017 released A daily song which became a major hit selling 2.500.000 copies only in Korea
His journey was a roller coster and he had to overcome many hardships but it was worth it because now he's one of the BRIGHTEST STARS IN THE SKY
At the age of 22, Dimash was the youngest participant in the history of The Singer and competed against professional and top selling Chinese singers. Dimash participated as a "wild card competitor" and he finished runner up. Dimash is a very structured musician, intelligent and versatile with a plus of 20 years of hard work and discipline that have become him the amazing artist he is. He is the perfect candidate to win a grammy award!!!! ✨✨✨
The name Kudaibergen is of Kazakh (Kazakhstan) and Tajik (Tajikistan) origin and means "Voice of the angel".
Kudaibergen is also of Oghuz (archaic Turkish) origin and means "Gift of God.".
In late 2016, Dimash was invited to participate in Singer (as a "wildcard competitor" ), a popular Hunan TV contest for established professional singers. He signed a contract with Black Gold Talent in Beijing before the contest begun, confirming his participation. At 22, Dimash was the youngest participant in the history of the show, and competed against professional and top-selling Chinese singers. Dimash’s mother, Sveta later said that he had only hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition. Not only did he finish the Singer 2017, he finished Runner Up, gained millions of fans whom he began calling his “Dears. If his previous participation in other contests proved that he could sing well, his astounding performances on the stage of Singer 2017 guaranteed his rapid rise to popularity and international stardom.

That was about a 17 second belt, lol. Dimash swims to increase his breath control. We've seen a video of him swimming the entire length of the pool. The show I Am Singer is unique because it only invites established artists. Although, Dimash was a dark horse for 2017. The 500 member invited audience are all part of the music industry in some fashion or another. Dimash will dissect the lyrics of the song and internalize them so he can understand them and convey the story back to the audience. This was the first song he sang that made me almost cry! Adagio, IMO, is that it is a desire or yearning for the perfect love that the person hasn't found yet. “I don’t know where to find you. I don't know how to reach you.” You know that person exists (you hear their voice in the wind, under your skin), and you will wait for them “Within my heart and soul I wait for you” “When the time is right I know you’ll be in my arms”.

Audience- is a jury of competition. 500 people which are musicians, singers, producers. They had voted after each episode.
Dimash was a winner in the three episodes: first with SOS, second with Opera2 and sixth with Adagio.

Adagio followed his Uptown Funk episode. While he had fun on stage and got the audience and competitors all involved and enjoying Uptown Funk it didnt showcase any skills or technical aspects of his voice so it was his lowest placing (6th). So the next week came Adagio where he put 300% into it and he took 1st place with this performance! 💜❤💛💙🧡💚
Hi Becky, I think 6th place among Chinese already-superstars who participated upon invitation only (Dimash was the exception, 1. as foreigner. 2. kind of experient by giving him a wild card) was not bad either :)) I am still impressed how much they love him, how sincere and friendly they were with the 'young foreigner', little imported brother they called him , cheers from Vienna, Austria

The members of the audience who are also the judges for this song contest have to go through a selection process to take part and are the same throughout the series. If you notice they wear badges with numbers on to represent their age group. At the end of the show they cast their votes in the box for their age group and the votes are counted up. You can see all this happening if you watch one of the full shows from Hunan tv.
I'm not sure that the artists have a completely free choice of repertoire, I have a notion that Dimash wouldn't have chosen Uptown Funk without some level of persuasion from the production department. Dimash has also said that the production team dressed him for each show so the outfits were not his choice. Another very good performer, Tian Jing, withdrew because of differences with the production.
The performers have an input to each arrangement but don't have to do the whole thing themselves, you can see the arranger credits on Wikipedia.
I would just like to say that the production values for this show are really high, I love the orchestra/band and backing singers. The lighting is great and the reactions of the other participants are gold.

Dimash was actually invited to I Am Singer as a wildcard singer. No one knew of him, he was the youngest contestant ever on the show and he was a foreigner. Of course they all fell in love with him after the first episode and from then on deemed him as "the country's imported little brother" :'D

I always think this performance shows Dimash as the epitome of ‘passion’ - that’s the word that always comes to my mind, anyhow!
(He needed to be even more outstanding than usual in this round - he had been disappointed that Uptown Funk in the previous round was not particularly well-received.)
Btw, he looks particularly handsome in the turquoise Paul Smith suit, which is the main colour of the Kazakh flag!

The audience of 500 are the judges for the Singer show. Each person has one vote.
The Singer is set up by invitation only and the contestants are all already professionals. He was the only non-professional, foreigner and youngest to be invited. They invited him as a wild card planning on only 2 episodes. He went through all 14 weeks and ended up runner up. The audience is made of 500 people who are the actual judges!! I always look forward to your Dimash reactions, The audience of 500 is the same for every episode,As others have told you, they do the voting, This show is so well produced. The orchestra, the lighting, and the editing. You can find some episodes of The Singer with english subtitles. It is very fun to watch and you may want to do this on your own time. Terry Lin, teresa carpio(SPelling) with her Imagine, the Lion Band. You would really like this. I think in 2019 (Dimash sang in 2017) they announced a contest where you could apply to be in the audience, I am sure others can give you more info, This show has introduced me to so many really great singers and I look forward to it every year.
All the contestants are established Chinese artists. Dimash was invited as a wildcard as an experiment for lack of better words. Its a tough competition and I understand why he was so nervous about competing, especially since he sang first on the first night. Well done Dimash!

Your sensitive and informed reactions area real treat. There has been chatter that Dimash was not well during , at least a part of, the Singer competition. If that was the case during this performance it may explain why he appeared to falter right at the end, or maybe it was just theatrics. In his performance of this song at Sochi he appears more at ease and, of course, he has two more years of experience. You would probably enjoy the reactions of Gerard Petit as they are similarly well-informed and sensitive.

Hey for me that is one of his most powerful performances on the show. He pushed himself to the Max you can tell he was exhausted at the end . Dimash put his Heart, Soul and Breath in to every word in that song :) Just Amazing how he raises the Bar in every song he covers :) No one can cover the songs the way Dimash does :)

awesome reaction. This is Lara Fabian's song. Y'all should watch her live doing this too. Beautiful. Singer is also different because contestants are already known singers, the judges and the 500 member audience are also musically proficient in some form. The accompanying musicians are also top notch. So really you are being judged by your peers. very high calibre music.
