The owner was so incredibly gracious…not only did he not make a fuss about anything but tried to guide you I. The right direction and did it with lots of respect then even became curious himself 😂 wow that was really awesome major props to the staff.

I am Italian and I worked as a waiter in a restaurant for three years.
Believe me that many guests from other countries were asking these kind of things. I remember the cooks in the kitchen yelling and dying inside, but in the end we satisfied each weird request (when possible). "The guest is always right"
No, the guest is never right when it comes to menu. Every restaurant that respects their menu should not change their recipes because of weird people.
This it why I love Italians, they like to please and make guests feel at home.

The owner and his staff deserve the success of the restaurant. Truly honest work and passion from their side. I really hope that the video promotes them after all they had to cope with 😂

as an eastern european it's almost weird watching nationalities be so passionate about their food meanwhile here the main rule is not mixing vodka and energy drinks
so you can't mix a cheap vodka with an energy drink especially as a child/teen ?
Oh well, I've traveled quite a lot in eastern EU too (I'm Italian) and the golder rule for that (and for any other country) is always to ask locals (especially people > 50yo) where it's good to eat (I even do it here in Italy when I'm in an unfamiliar place), AND ask for the most typical local plates (so that they know how to do them well). I've eaten VERY well in this way whenever I've been, from Zupa Grzybowa, pierogi ruskie and zurek zupa in Poland, to amazing roasted meats and salads in Bulgaria, to ciorba and sarmale in Romania, to Paçe plansash in Albania and so on and so for. It doesn't make sense to go for Italian food abroad, it makes A LOT of sense to dip into their culture, and cousine is part of culture too!
And do they follow that rule ?
@@AlessandroGenTLe if you have the opportunity eat boeuf salad (Romania) and/or mici/ćevapčići they are very good. Also, don't forget the palinka which is harder than vodka if you had not tried that. If you like fish, the black sea is something unique.
Voka I Voda or maybe a fruit juice is OK... but never a Energy Drink or something with a lot of Sugar like Coke or Fanta or whatever... only make You a big Hangover

As an Italian I can tell you they were genuinely laughing in the kitchen for the their whole stay. Hilarious, well done man great video eventhough I personally suffered watching it, and also laughed of course.
The canned pineapple was pure genius. Not just pineapple, but a sugary, watery, disgusting one. And the owner even dare to say "not bad", such a gentleman.
One of the most tolerant restaurants in Italy. I'm impressed by their customer service and professionalism. Good job to the people running the restaurant, you should be very proud! Hopefully they will get many more customers in the future.

I went to Italy last summer and this was my experience. They are some of the nicest and most hospitable people and seem to care more about you just enjoying your food than imposing their traditions on you.

Wow this actually made me cry at the end, the staff and owner are such beautiful people. I wish every business was as amazing as that restaurant.
To be fair, I even think the Michelin Guide would be interested in this review. Part of their guidelines is service - this place kind of knocked it out of the park. In many cases, the Michelin reviewers will go out of their way to make crazy requests to see how accommodating a place is.

On that note, most - if not all - good restaurants in Italy tend to apply the same degree of tolerance with cutomers. There are tons of videos online of restaurant staff lecturing patrons about what and how they should eat (usually in a very histrionic way). Those are almost always tourist restaurants, the kind of places most locals avoid like the plague. A good waiter should be discreet as much as possible: ready when called but invisible unless called to a table. To the point that what is considered great in American culture, like a waiter visiting the table every now and then and making sure eveything is okay, here is usually considered as a bit invasive because people here tend to go to a restaurant to have a conversation and prefer to be interrupted as little as possible. In touristic restaurants, it's the polar opposite because for some reason it is thought that tourists love a conversation with their waiter.
I'd like to point out this is not a Michelin star rated restaurant. This is a michelin guide restaurant. There is a big difference. Michelin star restaurants are gourmet restaurants (for the most part) Michelin guide restaurants are all kinds of restaurants (in this case a semi fancy trattoria) that appears in the michelin guide book. It has no Michelin stars. I wanted to point this out because people often confuse the two.
The best Michelin star's restaurants in italy would've been either Villa Crespi by Antonino Cannavacciuolo which is in Orta San Giulio (near a city called Novara, in Piemonte region) or "L'osteria francescana" by Massimo Bottura, which is in the region of emilia romagna (downtown Modena to be precise). They both have three Michelin' stars, which I believe that they're the only Italian restaurants to have the max amount of stars a restaurant can get.
The only downside of those places is that they probably have an incredibly long waiting list to book a table, and well, for some people the price can be too steep lol.
My exact thoughts when I saw those stickers. Pretty much any restaurant can get into the guide.

This as an Italian myself looked like a pretty mid trattoria. Not even a fancy restaurant without any stars.
That's why the title of the video is Michelin restaurant, not Michelin star restaurant.

It is very normal for Italian restaurateurs to reply (often quite rudely) to bad reviews. There is no worse way to insult an Italian than to criticise their skills in the kitchen.

Insulting any chef that prides himself in what he does will have a response. But indeed Italy has a lot of proud chefs
I don't think it's fair to say that, not in the case of this place. I mean, did you read the bad reviews? One was complaining about not getting a table without booking (that idiot probably went either Friday or Saturday night which is the busiest nights for restaurants expecting to be seated), another was a no text bad review and another again just your classic bot "bad experience, don't recommend" kind of review. Only one could be considered fair (and it was the octopus one, which I strongly doubt that in a sea based city like napoli they gave them canned or old octopus). Not even the worst tourist trap would pull that bullshit off.
Imo when an owner shows that much passion and actually takes his time to reply to reviews, it's a sign that the place is well cared for. But that's me. I'm Italian so maybe my perception on that subject is different, but I see no harm in an owner defending his business especially again given the ridiculous bad reviews those people left. And it perfectly showed at the end of this video when the owner went to the table. He was in no way a rude snob. Actually quite the opposite.
They obv don't want to ruin their credibility so it seems absurd to them that someone had a bad experience, so they confront it outright.

There is a corsican dish called Cala Rossa which is a gratin of fishes and sea food inside cream probably white wine, leek, corsican cheese (brocciu) and corsican ham/sausage (coppa). It's delicious
in the restaurant Le Bazeilles in Toulon where i ate that it's served with risotto

my god, the lady was so patient, and the owner was just, the kindest person ever. when someone bought in pineapple into a restaurant in Italy everyone knows they are here to troll you, but he was so calm and so kind to explain to his guest, and even that failed, he was willing to open the pineapple for the guest and even tried it out himself. I have no words. I learnt so much about Italian food culture in this video, and how the staff must be so annoyed, but they are so just so kind. i love that at the end the prank is reviewed, and the owners and the staff get the appreciation they deserved. this is pure heart, patient and hospitality, they have a lot of respect to "foreigners" who might not know about their culture.
I say eat food however tf you want, loved the wholesome ending 🍻

I luved the lady attendent ... she is so graceful... full of patience and so accommodating even if it meant butchering a famous italian dish to keep her guests happy... loved their commitment... loved the manager/owner, too... especially when he took the pineapple can to open it for them even though he did not agree with their choice... hats off to them.. huge respect to all of them... lots of love from India... hope to visit this restaurant during my next possible visit to Italy next year. ❤😘💕💕💖

Everyone who told you we don’t do meatballs and spaghetti is not Italian! It is actually one of our traditional “Sunday at grandma’s house” dish (in from the south and I have seen a lot of friends eating it)

As an Italian I can say this video is awesome and funny and so real! Thank yo, I think you get and represent in the best way the weird sense of sacred we have about food.
You can feel the passion of the owner and the employees for what they do. The only thing that puzzles me is the discrepancy between the way those reviews at the beginning of the video were answered and the sweet gentleman that the owner we met by the end was. I found it rude (perhaps wrongly so) the way those negative reviews were answered no matter if the complaints were right or wrong, but the real guy was... hats down. Didn't seem vainglorious at all.
The Philippines is pretty much the culinary opposite of everything in Naples. They do all the food faux pa you guys did, and their food is so amazing I happily married a filipina! Ketchup in spaghetti, pineapple on pizza and with cheese, mixing red wine with fish...
Asking for the can opener really sealed the deal! What a great restaurant. You even got the owner to try the pineapple. He even had to think for a few seconds to give you a respectful answer not to offend pineapple lovers.

Dangerous is exaggerated, vast majority of crime there is petty stuff, in fact all Italy has one of the lowest crime in the WORLD, lower than Sweden in some categories, and actually HALF that reported in Germany.

I'm Italian and I have to admit that my heart stopped beating several times during the video. There are even worse things you can do in a restaurant. They are used to having weird customers and requests from all over the world from very different cultural background ... but great video as always. It also shows how kind people are when they do it passionately. Can't wait to see the French series.... would be good also if you shoot such videos in remote/countryside places; people reaction would be more excessive in either a good or bad way :)

What an incredibly sweet and humble owner 🙏 You lucked out, I can tell you not all restaurants in Italy would be this patient or accommodating 😂
Beside all the stereotypes mentioned in the video, there is one important thing that need to be said, italian restaurants, especially if they work with tourists, will do everything to make a guest happy.
Sometimes they'll even give you ketchup for you to ruin your dish! Stomach is yours my friend!
Italian hospitality is on a different level compared to the rest of the world, not only the dishes but also the interaction with the guests and the professionality of the workers.

Do Italians accept tips?? I would’ve left huge tip for all that I had put her through if I were PPPeter. I don’t know if that’s the custom there are not. I’ve heard you don’t tip in Europe.
@@laikanbarth we are just not used to tip in Italy, but whoever wants to tip us, we will always accept it with our best smile 😉
And about the rest of Europe, some country is more used to tip, some is less.
Europe is not a single country, with a single culture, every few hundred miles you'll experience a totally different atmosphere and kind of people
From working in an Italian kitchen, I can confirm that they probably started off laughing, then went on to wanting to fight whoever was making the requests then ended up fighting each other
I guarantee the owner was only called because the head chef wanted to throw hands
