    I like the contrast that Prof. Taplin makes between covid-19 and the Athenian plague (@4.09min). Interesting insight. I know of him from the excellent work "Homeric Soundings".

    Taplin's "Homeric Soundings"---best book on the structure of the Iliad. It's a beautiful book.

    Irrelevant to the talk, which I much enjoyed, but Oliver Taplin sounds very much like Anthony Hopkins (or feel free to put it the other way round).

      Yes - but they clapped for bad actors too, to drown them out!
