I imagine the reason for Cad Bane’s lighter skin colour and different facial proportions are a mix of his age & the live action translation of a stylised character.
But I saw a lot of people upset about it so I quickly threw together this edit to show what he’d look like with the look we’re more familiar with.
Thanks for this!
Disney colorism in a literal nutshell
So bad even alien and my main man bane aren’t spared
Also wish they would've done the voice modulation like he had in CW
I do agree a bit. He doesn't really look like a Duros compared to all the other times we see the species. He looks fantastic in live action I do just think his face coulda looked a bit longer
All we need is a toothpick.😂 Other than that you did a great job fixing Cad Bane!!!🔥
The blue doesn’t bother me at all but the way that you shaped his face to be more accurate I like more. A mix of the two would be cool
Agreed - he's got to be getting pretty old by then, and apparently the tone of his voice and skin color is a sign of his age
Thiss, he looks way scarier on the right!
Agreed, it's not the blue but that REALLY chunky shape they gave him. It makes him look younger to me, not older.
By "accurate" you mean "more similar to how he was stylized in a cartoon."
@@SalvableRuin yeah you are right... We all remember dooku's face in cw right? I think they made a great job and it perfectly fits the live action
I didn't dislike the lighter skin tone from the show, but this is how the proportions should be. You absolutely nailed it.
The older he gets the lighter his skin color gets
Hollywood white washing once again
racist
The one we saw on disney + looked like Krypto from Destroy All Aliens !! 👽
Not necessarily, remember that the clone wars is very stylized (points at duku) so there's always room for change when it comes to love action
Seeing so many close-ups of a CGI character is just stunning.
Wasn't CGI it was a mask. Practical effects almost always look better and Industrial Light and Magic has always leaned towards practical. That's why Yoda was originally a puppet and later replaced with CGI.
@@DarthObscurity This one is not the case of practical looking better
this looks fantastic! honestly for me even just fixing his hat makes him look a million times better. your effect takes it the whole extra mile!
Oh wow I hadn't even noticed the hat was different till I read this!
@@m0urn1ng5tar5 It's so SMALL
@@dsqtourny it would of looked a bit too goofy in live action if it were it's actual huge size, and it's also because of The Bad Batch why it's small!
Aye I like the darker blue and the wider hat. The original is great honestly lots of realistic improvements to cad bane. He looks badass
If you remember in the bad batch hes got a smaller hat then he does in the clone wars.
@@snortingcoke5145 Yeah did people miss that or something lol
@@InjusticeJosh True he looks good in live action only problem I had was his skin color
but Duros get pale as they get old
Even though they tried to make him look older, this feels so much closer to what he should look like!
Nevertheless both interpretations are perfect :D
Nie gedacht euch hier zu sehen xD Eben noch eure Review gesehen
no it doesn’t this just feels and looks like an animated character. this is far worse
Herz an euch
I don’t mind the skin tone being faded to resemble Bane aging but they lowkey made him look younger due to how smooth his skin is.
So hätte er aussehen müssen, meiner Meinung nach
I was excited to see Cad Bane in the Book O Fett, and I did not hate his overall appearance. It was off yes, but I felt was a good compromise. Now after seeing this, I believe it could and should be improved. in this style. It rings more true to the animation yet holds the realness look of live action. Well Done.
Seeing this video, it felt like the re-edit fits Clone Wars era younger Bane while the original feels a careful but still dangerous older Bane.
Either way, the shape of his head and the size of his face is actually what put me off first time watching him.
@@kentinson1670 it's supposed to be off putting though, I remember thinking about how odd and inhuman this character appeared despite sharing many of our characteristics and that what made his characters presence so intimidating. It's uncanny valley
FUCKING THANK YOU! My goodness the amount of people bringing up “the animated style is different for everyone” don’t get Cad is an alien. He wasn’t really exaggerated. This fits him beautifully
Not only that but he loses the badass cowboy bounty hunter look when his face is super round
@@xternalz3423 Speak for yourself.
It could be worse... Disney could have made him a trans black women.
@@Texan_American Shut up
I don’t think the Book of Boba Fett Cad Bane looks bad or unrecognizable, He’s clearly way older, and when you’re on Tatooine, you age faster, plus the planet has two suns, man.
I don’t mind that he’s less blue in the original. But I really do like how the the face structure on the adjusted one looks. Fits the animated more and makes more sense with his body and age
Looks more like other Duros we've seen in live action too, while staying more faithful to the spirit of his clone wars character. He looks more menacing and easier to take seriously than in the original book of boba scene. Would be great if they corrected the face shape and applied the paler aged skin for the perfect mid ground.
the less blue skin color makes him look more realistic but wheres that chiseled jawline everyone knows
The animated show is stylized, like trying to accurately bring a power puff girl to live action. Fans are just going to what they do best, fix things, complain and whine, etc.
@@redbaron8130 honestly 😂live action doesn’t have to be the same as the animations, look at Dooku for example
@@user-dd5ul5wo6k yeah. I saw that lol can you imagine?
I love how his face is slightly less chunky and he’s more blue. He looks much closer to what I know him as
Well this ain't part of the official show , so you'll have to suck it up and get used to what it really is.
Yea we know him from animated series. He looks perfect in live action
people gotta remember he's something like 30 years older now compared to clone wars
I guess his species gets lighter as they age? Who knows man
@@Hamood113 or its the same explanation as Obi-Wans age, two suns in a desert with no moisturiser reachable in the whole parsec.
Oh man, I love this. It's not just a shape of the face, it's the way it makes is angry expression more subtle. It's still there, but he looks calm the same time. It's great.
I was thinking the same thing, his long face is part of the character look, not even a stylized thing but proportional thing. This looks so much better! Nice job!
Also his voice is supposed to sound a bit robotic no?
While I don't really dislike the original, this version is impressive and incredibly better.
Both are valid. Think of them as him at different ages.

OH Damn that is OUTSTANDING Work, Massive respect to yall. I like the Darker Blue for Cad Bane & was hoping they'd use it for live action but oh well its fine cause he is much older now. Still Im awestruck by how on point this is
Dark Blue is always Cad Bane. Best Star Wars character IMO.
I like how you can be found in comments of random videos sometimes
Eh, looks more cartoony.
Maybe we’ll see him in dark blue if they show a scene where he’s in the dark, that’d be cool.
Think he’s just supposed to be light blue cause of all the sand and dust and heat from tattoine?
Wow, this is so much better than the Disney+ version. Incredible work !
definitely better and a more faithful interpretation from the source material. looks even more menacing! and the hat!
the hats the same..... maybe slightly more saturated color
This honestly looks like exactly what I would've wanted, now of course with age Bane's skin tone wouldn't be as dark anymore, but I think the face structure change was done perfectly. I always felt that the live action version's face was too scrunched up, should be more spread out.
To be fair theyre working with a real human face so theyre very limited compared to when its an animated character that you can do whatever you want with in a very stylized art style
@@imakekomics why would say something so stupid lol
@@double23423 how is that stupid? It's right.
His teeth should be more yellow
@@MangoKai he did it in a cave, with a bunch of scraps
Incredible work! And so fast. I think the pale color is partially to do with how they mute all the colors in post, and them trying to match how the Duros's looked in 'A New Hope'. I don't know if I'd go quite as deep blue, maybe somewhere in the middle, but the proportions you changed are seamless and perfect. The original looks like the makeup straining to cover a nose, this looks like a finished character. Well done!
Absolutely has to do with the Duros skin tone in the cantina
The blue in the fixed version was more accurate and perfect. They went from a deep rich brilliant blue to some washed out version of it that was too pale in the live-action depiction. Like a powder or baby blue instead of the deep sea blue that he actually had been established as having throughout his character's life.
@@boomieboo lmao since when was it established that the “brilliant, deep sea blue” was something he had throughout his entire life?
Yeah the OG looks like make up covering a nose and he looks like he just ate 3 whole lemons the way hes scrunching his mouth and face
@@noahgranger6749 he’s like 70 and most of his kind lives till about that age so the color and the face is supposed to be an old man
Back here after seeing the grand inquisitor:(
The facial rework is incredible! You have quite a gift, I wish all the blessings and wealth to come your way
He looks absolutely incredible in live action, my only gripe was his face needed to be more elongated which you did perfectly! Looks awesome
I agree, I think though to cut back the computer animation they needed to make a face piece that would fit a human proportion.
I mean he is like 70 or something
He looked fine the issue was he looked like a pissed off toddler lmao
Proportions in CW are all elongated.
@@bloodypine22 the duros race even in live action have longer faces, mouths closer to the chin.
I didn’t even have a problem with the way he looked in the episode but this is a phenomenal, seamless edit. Great job!
I had more issue with his voice. It sounds 'farther' in Clone Wars, mechanical at times...
@@HockeyRiveNord same voice actor apparently, I guess they for got to add the mechanical effects....
same
I did but I'm not saying it was bad. It would've been fine if we weren't so familiar with how he looked before.
The enhanced one is better.
I love this character so much, I hope they keep Cad Bane in the show, because he actually looks villainous and menacing. I like the Wild West look he has. Great edit btw. I like both!
The obviously impressive adjustment to the face aside: can we just appreciate that he made the hat bigger
Despite the change looking more clone wars accurate, let’s just take a second to appreciate the fact that we now have a live action Cad Bane
Are we gonna have to "appreciate" every time we see a thing we've seen before? Are yall that easy to please? It takes little to no effort.

They also made his head less wide so it looks even bigger too
@Marko Polo oh didn't know that
@Marko Polo Didn't he kill an Ithoran in season 5 for his hat?
@@Eagle-2448 yes
The live action is incredible, but the rework hits me RIGHT in the clone wars nostalgia
it is sooo satisfying to see him fixed / in CW Style. Great work!!
I must say, the slightly bigger hat is a very nice touch, and the recolor/proportioning is great! If they showed a younger version of him in live-action this would 100% have to be it.
I agree, the wider brim on the hat alone makes a big difference
My first thought when I saw Cad Bane in the episode was (jokingly): "That's not Cad Bane, his hat's not big enough!"
Honestly, the hat was the only thing that really bothered me, and even then it wasn't a big enough deal to take away from how awesome it was seeing Bane in LA.
@@LReezy1992 Getting him at all was great 100%, and they fixed Luke & Ahsoka so I'm sure Cad will be sorted out.
The colour change is probably just the colour grading mixed with his age, but the adjustments you made look stunning, I’m fine with what we got, but the longer face in this is perfect
I agree, I'm not really against the shade of blue they gave him considering he's in his early 70s and his species life spans in somewhere in the 80s, but they did a pretty bad job with his face structure, his mouth is way too high up and his nose and entire face in general is too wide. They also gave him too small of a hat and NO TOOTHPICK.
Don't forget lighting. The angle and the sun is super bright, it could make him lighter than he is.
The one we saw on disney + looked like Krypto from Destroy All Aliens !! 👽
I have absolutely loved this show so far. I haven't been disappointed with anything even some of the changes made to characters appearances. I really liked how they showed a lot of Luke training Grogu, it shows that Luke is still sorting things out as well.
I REALLY LOVE THAT! I can't imagine how some people can hate this wonderful piece of art
I don't hate the original version but this looks so much better that's for sure... I totally understand the paler skin for age but the proportions were a bit off in my opinion.
Yeah I don't mind the skin, Duros have had faded skin in live action anyways. The proportions were just goofy and the mask was cheap looking though.
He was a bit to chunky in my opinion but I'm nonetheless happy to see him in Live action!
That’s because your used to seeing him in animation lol not live action. Of course it’s gonna be different
I completed agree his skin I believe is fine, this would have been perfect
His face proportions like his skin color fading could be like the equal of his face getting saggy from age like how you see old peoples face get wrinkly and kinda thick looking, at least that’s my head canon. I’m very confident if they added cad bane in live action in his younger years he would look far better like we see here
The mere fact that you whipped this together in 24 hours is simply amazing. Great job!!
I love your adjustment to the shape so much better! It really feels like we’re looking at the cad bane from clone wars. When I saw the original, it didn’t really feel like him because of how different he looked. I know he’s supposed to have aged, but I still think your version fits much better.
The color doesn't bother me. But the mouth placement makes so much of a difference- this is incredible
I literally felt that his face was too chubby and desaturated when watching, so happy you made this
i mean maybe but the live action still looks really good. Love your videos btw!
Love your content Wolf!
Same I felt so weird that no one agreed with me
I get what you mean, but that's because you got used to the cartoon interpretation. This is what happens when they create characters the other way around. I actually really like his official live action design. Much more sinister! And reminds me of Col. Douglas Mortimer more than his TCW version.
@@pkmovies92 the live action version is a real departure from other live action Duros though. They ought to alter it
I prefer the adjusted face you guys did so much more, but I would not entirely mind the lighter blue complexion since it is Tatooine. Gives a sense of impact to the planet's climate.
Also i think the lighter blue is meant to make him look older
@@rhoiby23 they should of add dry spots on his skin to show how old he really plus in my opinion I felt like they should make his skin little pale instead of too much of it if that makes sense.
His face is also the right shape now
Both are incredible! Both are recognizable. Aging light blue face is sooo cool though. That voice is scary badass.
this is legitimately impressive. this takes some real talent to be able to achieve, i think
I liked Cad Bande's performance, even though I thought the face was a little too plump and bright. But then I simply explained it with his advanced age.
However, I have to say that the revised fan version, if he had looked like this in the episode, probably would have caused much less, if any, controversy.

I love how they created him, looks more sinister, but the way YOU created him, that’s exactly how Cad Bane should of looked like. Absolutely gorgeous work
I like both looks, but the main reason he looks different is that his face was intentionally elongated in CW to fit the art style (another example of that is Dooku in CW)
@@sith_slayer6849 Yeah also like how the Phase 1 clone helmets have more exaggerated proportions to fit the animation style. I do prefer the Attack Of The Clones helmet shapes though.

You can tell they tried to make him look older and sound older, and I think that's good. Your Bane looks like Clone Wars in live action, and that's the goal, so they're both brilliant.

@Doctah Wahwee oh yeah I totally get ya. I love old school practical effects. But sometimes practical effects can be helped by CGI. Like take The Walking Dead for example. They often merry practical with cg to really create an effective look for a character or to enhance a gag.

Agreed, the rework looks closer to TCW Bane but I still prefer the original. More menacing indeed and also more believable for some reason. I didn’t even dare to expect such a good result from turning an animated character into a live action one.
So glad to see someone else took issue with Bane's hat brim not being wide enough. So much better with that extra couple of inches.

yooo that is insanely well done
I love how this rework looks, i dont mind so much that he is pale because it makes sense he is older and also that Tatooine would give him that appearance, but the head structure of Live action Cad Bane is a bit shorter and his nose chunky than the animated and considering there was a duros in Ep4 that had a better structure i think they could've done that aswell for him, but eitherway im happy he is in this show and was not killed off in the cut scene of CW, can't wait until next week!
That’s exactly my point. They’ve shown a duros before (I don’t remember exactly where it may have appeared like you do, I just remember seeing it before) and they definitely messed up the shape of the head with this appearance a little bit. I still love it though. I was smiling the entire time he was on screen.
Yes I 100% agree
It’s crazy how good random people are at improving CGI with a limited budget. Lucasfilm should hire you just like the guy that improved the Luke deepfake.
Well.. this isn't an improvement to CGI. This is an improvement to practical makeup and effects using CGI. If they decided to use CGI at all, they would've been able to get a lot closer to the animated version.
@@artsyomni This whole show has really shown the limitations of practical effects and why we need that good mix of CGI and practical makeup and effects.
@@carlycrays2831 I think more the limitations of time, if they had gone with more CGI to fix things like Cad Bane and Ahsoka's lekku the budget would have gone up and there would be less time for polishing other CG scenes. We've had live action Duros before and they look significantly more like the right than the left, the movies used animatronic faces to get the proportions of alien heads to work right but I'm sure that wasn't in the cards for a production like the Book of Boba Fett
If this was the version we got in the movies, there would be edits of "fixing" Cad Bane to be more realistic, and everyone in the comment section would melt and would praise it as "how it blends into the color scheme of Tatooine much better" and how "colors of the original don't match, what is Lucasfilm doing?"
Don't get me wrong, I like this edit and the creator did a perfect job. It's on par with the original. My point is, whatever Lucasfilm does, there will always be people who prefer a reimagined/edited version simply because preferences. You can't compare skill and talent by that.
@cablecow15 It very obviously wasn't perfect if there was so much criticism directed towards it and not the other aliens. You really don't need to defend your favorite franchise from any critique you know that right?

I personally think he looks great! People are saying his face is too wide but forget clone wars is HEAVILY animated to have skinnier builds
Honestly I think that with the new Cad Bane he was a little too pale but it wasn't awful. The main problem that you fixed with this video was the shape of his face. His face looked compressed and his nose was too bulbous but you fixed that. Amazing job!
I'm perfectly content with the way he looks in the series but DAMN that edit is fuckin CLEAN.
I’m my opinion the original version is better solely because it’s looks more like it’s suited for live action. It’s just feels more real if that makes sense. The only thing I would change is the hat and making the skin color darker

Original Cad Bane is also FULL Prosthetics, no CGI
AMEN 👍
But you also gotta remember we've seen Duros in other media that isn't highly stylised and they dont look like this. They look more like the rework.
Cad Bane was not as stylized as other characters, look at the duros from ANH and Battlefront 2
There are duros in the first trilogy and they have the long face (but not tge dark blue color). Bane was stylised in the Clone War but not too much.
Darker blue…slim face… and most importantly, the wider brim. Nailed it!

I gotta say, I'm a bit more partial to the softer blue. It just seems more suited to live action Star Wars. Plus, he's older now and that comes across more in the version we got in the episode.

@@tufab3494 "People"... how many Duros friends and family do you have? I didn't realize every alien follows the same aging rules as us. I suppose Christopher Lee looked exactly like Dooku in the Clone Wars show as well...no artistic stylization there.
I love this. great job!
Wow! This adjusted version looks great and exactly what I would have expected from a live action adaptation.
I loved, loved, LOVED how he looked in the show. So menacing looking.. much more so than he ever was on the animated series. Your adjustments are awesome to make him more accurate to the art style of the animation. I think we can all agree this live action version is just awesome and makes him super menacing and scary looking. Complaints about how he looks in the show would be like complaining how Anakin looks in the show vs live action. Obvious the art style takes liberty with how characters look in cartoon form and vice versa.
When i saw his face i got kinda scared, he looks so menacing since he is older, paler and just more saggy skin, made perf sense. Just terrifying
I can’t unsee this….Great, now I will forever be disappointed he didn’t look like this. Awesome job!
why couldnt they have nailed this. fantastic job to whoever to the time to fix! looks so mach better
Looks way better. Good job.
We need this whole scene of his with him reworked like this - looks so much better this way
I know they tried to make him look older, but this is just better. They got the Luke effect working nicely, so I hope they'll update Cad's look the same way.
Cad is 71 years old here... His species usaully lives till 69 years according to Legends. Cad is very old.
They also helped themselves a lot with Luke by not usually having his face in frame while he spoke, and if they did it was profile/far away. Much better work all around though to be sure
@@duvagr007 The guy who "fixed" his face was also in colaboration with them in the episode.

@@noodle7725 u got me… I still think Filloni had his reason to do this. I’m glad I can finally see Cad in live action.
the best part is that both versions still work perfectly. still that blue bounty hunting gunslinger with a voice so deep and rumbling that it sends chills down ur spine, piercing red eyes, and a body count so high he might as well be the grim reaper of the galaxy
I just like his mouth being lower. It's accurate to the animated look, and it's accurate to the other live action appearances of Duros people. The pale look made sense because age, but overall well done on the edit. Both have their charm.
