One of the only categories in sporting vehicles that is actually growing is the UTV, better known as the side-by-side. This segment has a few key players but is dominated by Polaris' RZR (Razor) line. Well, this year, there's an all-new RZR XP designed to be the best, most versatile RZR ever. Polaris invited Matt and Zack to the woods of Tennessee to see what all the fuss is about, and if, at just under $25,000, the new RZR XP is the most fun you can have on four wheels.
Polaris provided travel, lodging, meals, the vehicle, the vehicle and fuel for this review.

I am a proffesional driving tecnjoque trainer who have worked in the top level of the WRC. I use exactly this type of UTV for training drivers.
On the suspension it moves very similar to an R5/Rallye2/WRC rally car, and as Zack pointed out, weight transfer is very similar.
Thanks for the great review (btw: basically all top rally drivers in the WRC have a UTV.)

Another excellently produced video. I totally get the appeal of these. They're a bit dangerous, a bit cheap, and looks to be a ton of fun. I then think about how I could actually make one work. I would have to buy a truck and trailer it to an ORV that's a couple of hours away. A sports car then seems a lot cheaper and easier to use. It was definitely fun to look at an alternative and see what other options there are. Hopefully you guys are invited on other press events for other non-car vehicles.
Also, between this and the truly fantastic Porsche Dakar video you have the beginnings of an off-road channel.

For those who can license UTVs, the result is more flexibility for general use. I've seen UTVs at grocery stores and other common daily travel chores. I myself chose to pass on a UTV and got an ATV instead, a Can-Am Outlander 850 Max version. The "Max" is a tandem 2-Seater version with a longer wheelbase and dedicated second seat. I wanted less of a car/truck experience and more of a riding on top of it (kind of) motorcycle experience. Also note, there are some trails that are restricted to 50" wide (their is usually a narrow gate to get through) so that restricts all but the narrowest of UTVs.

Unfortunately, a huge proportion of UTV drivers think driving one gives them license to do whatever they want and destroy trails, surrounding area, and have no regard for other trail users safety... thankfully they're getting banned from public roads all over the place.
Matt summed it up perfectly when saying there aren't any speed limits and you can take trails at 25mph... There may not be a written speed limit, but there are common sense limits around blind corners, to keep the dust to a minimum near other trail users, to 'tread lightly' etc.
Love your videos, but this is really poorly done and reinforcing the poor behavior the users of these think they're entitled. to.

I almost killed myself and my wife in one on an early date many years ago. I was driving and we hauled ass down an appropriately-named "haul road". I came to a tight switchback going down hill and tried to brake, but the gravel sent us for a ride. We slid down the hill sideways and somehow didn't roll over. I got her straightened out eventually and took the switchbacks like a drift car at far too fast a speed. We made it, but she was scared to death and mad at me.

The top of line side by sides are amazing at what they can do. You can hit whoops in the desert at 65mph like you're in a trophy truck, you can go rock crawl with the best of them, you can trail ride.....they do so many things so well, right off the floor.
Yes, they're getting more expensive, but theyre also getting more amazing and are still a bargain compared to what it would cost you to build something so capable. Ive got probably 45k into mine and its such a blast to rip through the desert at 65mph+ or jump the thing 10 feet in the air
Edit: You guys really need to drive either the 181hp turbo or the 225hp 4 cylinder with Dynamix suspension, both are also wider machines. The machine you drove is way outshined by the more expensive models. You really need to try the dynamix suspension that adjusts to the terrain on the fly

This felt the closest to a Two Take! Genuinely surprised it didn't beat the crap out of your spines, it looks mad uncomfortable from over here.
And for how narrow the trail looks you were both *hauling*, damn. Obviously, I wanna ride one. Someone else's. Swiftly 😬

These things are ruining trails and getting areas shut down left and right.

Hurting people too. Head ons. Them flipping and getting crushed under that sun shade they think is a roll cage. These things are the bane of the off-road industry. We used to complain about quads tearin up trails and gettin places shut down. They had little to no effect compared to these weekend warriors in SxS. Smh.

That comes down to educating new enthusiasts. If we want the areas to stay open without a new round or rules and regulations. Tell each other to TREAD LIGHTLY. keep it legal, safe, better than you found it. And Everybody, Stay. On. The. Damn. Trail.
Tread Lightly did yeoman's work before keeping trails open.
And trust me. Old 4x4 were getting logging roads shut down in the PNW decades before these existed. Illegal dumping, drunk driving, wildfires all sped that up.

@@---l--- you ever try and tell 4 people in a side by side who are drinking and have an attitude of entitlement the size of Texas to tread lightly? 😂😂😂😂😂🤦‍♂️ trust me when I tell you that isn’t working or going well for you unless you have more people than them. The Tread lightly campaign never did anything other than waste paper. Meanwhile the blm continues to close areas over the stupidest things. Giving them another thing to zero in on is a terrible idea. Silly people have been getting areas shut down for decades. The monetary barrier to access and entry into these sports for them has just been removed now is all and we are seeing the consequence of it.
