- Well Nine Sols is finally out, and it absolutely deserves a video. The style is crazy, amazing art, combat that would leave you nostalgic for Sekiro for sure. Enjoy! ***EDIT - Hearing from several people in the comments that don’t have any problems on mouse and keyboard, it is likely a problem on my end, so take my comments about the mouse and keyboard with a grain of salt as it likely won’t be the case for you. Thank you everyone for letting me know!

I'm seriously hoping this game gets more exposure. If given some good post launch support, this game has potential to be an absolute masterpiece. Its one of those games that I'd replay 10 times just because how good the gameplay feels. Also, we need a boss rush mode ASAP
I absolutely agree, it needs more exposure, which will help them iron out any problems (like the keyboard controls) and add content like the boss rush you mentioned. Beautiful game, definitely deserves more attention.
About the main hub you talked about, as you progress through the game and find items to gift to shuanshuan, he slowly starts to ' decorate' / fill up the pavilion. I think this was a really nice touch it gave a lot of character to shuanshuan, as he would make Yi' s life more colourfull and bright, as opposed to the little boring and plain pavilion in the beginning. Shuanshuan changing Yi' sview on life is also a main story trend so I think this is portrayed perfectly here.
That’s a good point, I like that you can bring back items/hidden items to shaunshaun, and then after your next visit back to the hub, it looks a little different with the decorations. I just thought with all the beautiful art design in the game and with the setting and characters, that a big golden pavilion was a bit generic and they could’ve made something much more unique, especially with the black roots, the cyber punk aspects, just different things mixed in.
@@samtheashen yeah I do agree with you that the main base could fit the taopunk easthetic better
@@lasso8863 Other than that though, the art direction as a whole is beautiful, and the details of the main hub changing and growing that you mentioned are a great addition too, so overall I’m still really happy with the game.
Great review! This game has to be in my top 10 games ever, even if it's not a triple A game.
4:20 - You said the game is borderline unplayable without a controller... I'll have to hardly disagree. I'm playing all my games on M&K, including this one, and I've had absolutely 0 issues in this one!
Even Sekiro and DS 1 (PTDE) were way less M&K friendly than this game.
Perhaps indeed something was up with your game. I did bind my dash to Mouse Button 5 and the Talisman to MB4 while leaving the scout thingie on Q and never had them fail on me.
Well I guess you’re probably right then, maybe it is my game. I tried binding my dodge to mouse button 4&5 middle mouse button, back to shift, I tried so much and just couldn’t get it to work. So if you have the same problems, it’s borderline unplayable. If not then I really don’t have any big complaints about the game, it’s a beautiful game with amazing art, good sharp combat, just great all around.
Nice review! I don't understand the issue you had playing it on keyboard. Personally the game worked perfectly fine on keyboard and I changed my keybinds with no issues.
You’re not the only person so far that’s said that, so it probably is my game/keyboard. Honestly that’s good news then, because I want this game to succeed. Thank you for the comment, I’m glad it’s working great for you too!
Thanks, that was a great description and advice!
Thank you I appreciate that, glad you liked the video!
I played through the entire game on mouse and keyboard and never had any issues. I didnt even have to change the original settings since they were good enough.
@@smaxtry that’s what I’ve been hearing all around so it must’ve been a problem on my end.
Thanks for the review. I would like it if you commented on backtracking and difficulty. Metroid fans may be scared of difficulty. Sekiro fans may be dreading backtracking.
Hard disagree on the former. As a Metroid and Souls fan, your first playthrough of any Metroid game is going to be pretty darn difficult until you beat the game and find out where all of the good powerups are. At that point, it's time to replay on Hard Mode!
That’s a fair point. Regardless of whether some people want it or dread it, it should’ve been talked about in the video, that’s my bad. For what it’s worth, there’s barely any backtracking. As far as difficulty, the game is the good old “tough but fair” and I touched on it a little bit talking about enemies and their attacks, how they’re telegraphed, your own abilities, the amount of enemies in an encounter and whether or not you get mobbed, etc. it’s a tough game but pretty much accessible for anyone.
@@jacobw7332 it’s true that finding out all the tricks and details, and shortcuts, abilities and so on, is a core part of the experience and it’s what a lot of people like about other metroidvanias. I still probably should’ve at least mentioned it in the video though
I dont have any problem with keyboard and i think its very smooth.
Good to hear, I think it might have been just me.
My game works perfectly fine with m&k and it has great support for it so it might be due to your peripherals being goofy or some software you have messing with it
Well this is another comment about it working good on m&k, so it must be something on my end. Which is great news, I’m glad it isn’t having issues for other people, I want this game to succeed. I appreciate you watching the video and letting me know!
