Type S better than stock. Hard to choose, the MDX Type S ($76k) vs. the X5 40i ($80k) Lexus RX hybrid is best deal at like $65-70k. Acura has No hybrid option, no bump in power for ‘25. Acura updates and remodels are glacially slow. Finally a 12” touch screen. Don’t need a 3rd row. (X5 doesn’t have it.) The only AC for back of MDX is the small vents in back of front console? That’s bad. Need an AC return in the cargo ceiling. Good performing SUV, well crafted at decent price.
There isn't much to complain about with this vehicle. It looks phenomenal. It has plenty of power. It has excellent reliability and build quality. Of course I would choose the TLX Type S but if you are in the market for an SUV. I would recommend this over a lot of other brands. ✌️

Joe, great review as usual. I'm digging this new 25 MDX Type S. After watching this, I intend to exercise my right to extend the lease on my 22 MDX Advance which expires in August. Acura Financial will allow me to extend it at the current Monthly payment of $610 for up to 6 months and those payments will continue to reduce the residual Buyout form $38,500 (now) to $35,500 in January. My MDX has only 20K miles. Then in January I can either buy out my 22 MDX for $35,500 or "entertain" a new 25 MDX Type S, either lease it or buy it. Pushing $80K is Big Nut, leaing me to also consider the new upcoming 25 RDX A-Spec Advance. I think the new RDX will have the new Touchscreen InfoT. which is very Welcome. I don't really need a 3 ROW SUV ( I often wonder how many people actually use these 3 Rows - I never see it being used on the road) . The MPGs with Premium gas is also another consideration for this 72 YO retiree. PS...Im liking this Urban Greay Pearl color. FWIW, my 22 MDX has been outstanding - no problems other than a now and again Gremlin that affects the Auto Entry / Exit function - where it does not respond to move the seats and Steering wheel into the preset position.

I have to say that I don't like the way acura added the integra type S front face to this suv, integra type s front face had to be unique to the integra.
I personally think that the front end is now overdone. The 2024 had a much cleaner classic design. Not a huge fan of the new wheels either. Not a fan of the new seat design. I think the alcantara inserts kind of cheapen the look. Not sure about the B&O sound system either. I think that the ELS was something uniquely Acura that set it apart and also the speakers are no longer lighted. And finally as a fan of the touchpad *gasp* (yes there are folk who are not obsessed with touchscreens) was sorry to see it go. Acura at the very least have made it a touchscreen and touchpad interface. All in all I prefer the 2024 Type S……..Which is why I pulled the trigger on one a couple of weeks ago. Taking into account the discounts on the 2024 with the changes to the 2025 that weren’t to my liking. The decision was a no brainer.
we have a 2024 Advance model and I fully agree with you on your points. We actually prefer the track pad setup to the touchscreen (coming from a Volvo XC90), The ELS system is superb. I feel they went with the B&O for the brand recognition rather than any real fidelity improvements.
In my mind, Acura can never compete with BMW unless it is the cheaper option. Like the affordable BMW, they need to be selling this under 65 and get Honda prices down and take out unnecessary tech, people still want cars for driving not robots
Why should they sell this with air suspension less than 65k? People are spending 55-60k for a frikin Telluride or Pallaside .. why should Acura sell this for 65k

@@EdgarJChavez He said "buying to keep". That Genesis is likely a lease.
Blows my mind there is no rear A/C for the back seats
Big zonk right there. Let those poor little guys just sweat it out back there, I guess.
9:15 I hope that whenever the baby the customer is having grows up we can see Joe do a review of a car that would be good for the kid when he can drive
LOL
Keep the lore going
When he says, (“let’s fire it up and hear what it sounds like …when he was driving back to the camera, you heard the birds in the background singing, which was louder than the actual MDX engine 🤷🏽♂️😝😝😝
Betteridge's law of headlines. The MDX is overpriced compared to the competition. Acura are out of their minds.
Raiti the title says 2025 but you have called it 2024 multiple times in the video. I’m confused, what year is this? Btw, you drove on the 5 where I commute back home from work lol talk about real world application..this suv is one of my favorites
It's crazy what is going on with the se different years. That is such a small world.
Morning Joe ☕️
Good looking vehicle…..love San Diego. Going to sea world with Steven? 😂
🐟 🐠 🐬
No sea world for us Tom! LOL
Having that side rub stripe in gloss black will save you many a door ding.
If you're concerned about the price then buy you a Kia or something at this price it offers you more than the competitors it's a good price and people who can afford it are not complaining 🤷🏽
on performance SUVs you didnt mention the fastest one the TRACK HAWK by Jeep like 0 to 60 in the low 3 seconds and in the 10.5 second quarter mile
Oh shit, at the end you drove right by my old house on Gopher Canyon Road!
Comfort and reliability 2025 MDX Advance Trim beats everyone and better pricing too! A slam dunk trifecta!😃👏
True and the regular MDX is more reliable than the Type-S
@@CarGeek360 well, air suspensions and turbo motors are definitely more complicated components. The bigger picture is both are notably more reliable than euro-counterparts.
@@MixedG80 idk a X5 40i is probably going to be more reliable than a MDX Type-S, the B58 engine in the X5 40i seems to be more reliable than the J30AC motor in the MDX Type-S, on top of that the MDX Type-S has air suspension unlike the X5 40i and air suspension is never reliable in the long-run, the non Type-S MDX would be the most reliable in it’s class as it’s pretty much a luxury Pilot with the same internals, which equates to stellar reliability and low maintainence costs, the J35 N/A V6 in the non Type-S MDX, Pilot, and Odyssey is one of the most reliable engines ever produced, even the Lexus and Infiniti products are getting less reliable now as they are ditching larger N/A engines in favor of smaller turbocharged engines, thankfully Acura hasn’t done this with the MDX (yet)
“ON THROTTLE!!!!’ “
let's do this!
76k is wild. Nevermind 😢
acura are out of their minds. the mdx is way overpriced.
@@TMS5100🤦🏽
Fuckin' beautiful vehicle. Love everything about it. I do think the engine needs to be louder. But that's just me. Love the color.
Is it better than x3m40i?
Waiting on that Hyundai Ioniq 5 N on throttle.
refresh mdx on fire
I got the opportunity to drive this car on the job the other day I'm a valet driver by the way
You didn’t point out the new battery compartment!
go, but that trend seems to be on the majority of current luxury vehicles.
This is a good point Erik!
@@RaitisRides shoot, it cut off half of what I wanted to say. I meant to say “It’s refreshing to see blue interior in a sea of boring black that plagues every modern vehicle. The gloss black needs to go, but that trend seems to be on the majority of current luxury vehicles.
The TLX type S now the MDX..... can't afford either one 😢
Love it
I am glad that I could bring it to you!
Are your it has a71 cb ft of space coz being 5 seater even 2018 Honda CR-V got 75 cb ft of space just to confirm 😮
Nice car but at that price I’m going with the X5 PHEV50e my daughter have the MDX and its a nice car.
Good morning Joe and Steven. I have a suggestion. I love your format and flow but think adding a section of still images of the key angles would be awesome, and so I no longer have to harass Steven. Just a thought. Great vid as usual guys 👍
Thanks for the feed back! I will discuss with Steven.
76k? Too much friend!
Nice car Joe
I am so glad that you like this Type S version of the MDX Edward.
@@RaitisRides definitely
The front grills around the fog lights looks like so added on come on Acura you can do better than that, the 2024 front end looked so much better.
I feel like that Steven comment was very personal... 😄
Man wish the TLX got that screen
It is crazy that it did not.
Hopefully the next iteration of the RDX does! @@RaitisRides
76k insane for an acura? 65 tops in my book
Everything price wise is out of control.
I have to say that I don't like the way acura added the integra type S front face to this suv, integra type s front face had to be unique to the integra.
Love the MDX, but naked rear wiper...Zonk. Piano black dash...Zonk. $76K price? Zonk Zonk Zonk! Maybe a CPO in a few years.
I would have to agree with you, Sometimes things do not have to be changed!
we have a 2024 Advance model and I fully agree with you on your points. We actually prefer the track pad setup to the touchscreen (coming from a Volvo XC90), The ELS system is superb. I feel they went with the B&O for the brand recognition rather than any real fidelity improvements.
why the comparison to the RX and X5? They are only 2 rows and not an option for growing families.....
Cheap gloss black cladding, when are they going to learn?
I know right!
Agreed it looks cheap and hideous. A possible improvement would be to add matte ppf to those areas.
