WOW. I'm genuinely impressed by the use of very limited colour palette. Holy crap, this version has nothing to shame when compared to the 256 colour VGA counterpart. In ways it's even more impressive.

I dunno, it feels to me more like an automated palette downsize from 256 to 16 with a bit of cleanup. Lots of parts feel very "noisy", like automatic dithering.

Nice. Thanks for doing this! Always wanted to see this version of one of my favorite Sierra games!

Fun fact, this version is the one they used to run the Japanese version of this game! (Pc-98 version) and it's more or less the same except it's run in 640x400 to better display the large kanji charachters in some description boxes.

    "What's going on in there?"
"Those two geeks from Andromeda are in there signing copies of their latest release!"
    "What's going on in there?"
"I JUST TOLD YOU! Those two geeks from Andromeda are in there signing copies of their latest release!"
    "What's going on in there?"
    "Beat it, jerk!"
    "What's going on in there?"
    There is no reply.

why they used that horrible dithering to downscale to EGA I will never understand - looks horrible

Not the original sounds or music. Nice try though.

Sure it is, you're probably just used to a Soundblaster and/or Adlib. This is the MIDI version.

@@DanielWesleyKCK i grew up on SQ IV with sound and narration...i was born in 1988 and i grew up watching my brothers play SQ 1, 2 and 3 and IX...the only time i will accept differences is if they are better but still equally easy to play. if something is better but the sacrifice is something obstructs the playability...it isn't better (for example: like how people say modern games are better with good graphicsbut the problem is they only get on two consoles rather than five...that isn't better...i would rather the game be on five consoles and have less graphics). but i digress...retro games didn;t have these issues...you grow comfy with what you like and only don;t want it different unless it's imporved but not subtracted from...the other version of SQ IV did this...it improved but didn;t subtract. watchnig this version of SQ IV feels liek watching SQ V where they took out the narration for no good reason
