I don’t claim to the knower of all vibes, BUT I think the second Rocco pulled ober after 83 pitches and 1 hit, then 24 HOURS LATER, blamed the PLAYERS and calling THEM unprofessional was the nail in the coffin. The team only has gotten worse since that sequence.
Sorry but there's only so much you can blame on the coach. Put the team aside, players should also be playing for their own careers/futures and they're playing like AAA players. Their performance is going to hurt their future compensation. If that's not unprofessional, I don't know what is.
If the Twins played more small-ball, bunting or making contact by hitting the ball to move runners around the bases, the Twins would have scored more runs and won more games and have fewer LOB. Among teams in the AL, the Guards and Royals have the 1st and 2nd fewest LOB, the Tigers have the 5th fewest, and the Twins have the 8th fewest LOB. The Twins LOB is above the AL average team. The Twins hitting philosophy is set by Rocco, Rocco doesn't do his job well enough.
I told my buddy who's also a big baseball fan, that game Alcala tossed where he gave up the lead and they lost to the Rangers would be a killer. I told him, those are potential momentum killing games. Welp.
The Twins started the season short one established starting pitcher and two solid bullpen arms. The Twins signed bargain bin pitching, this team was never a playoff team.
Buck Martinez was talking on the Blue Jays game last night about their team’s offensive struggles this season and he discussed that hitters get so much data and info now, they go up to the plate with too much on their mind and that’s a big reason why the MLB collective batting average sits at .240. Definitely a problem with many teams and probably even more so with the Twins as they are so driven by analytics.
Baseball coaches used to teach for contact and drive the ball to the gaps, now it's about launch angle and mph. Honestly, the best hitters in baseball history would have never made it to the majors today, players like arraez are the exception instead of the rule.
Ownership doesn’t care about fans. Falvey plain and simple is just not a good GM. Rocco is a robot and that doesn’t seem to know how to tap into the human element. Lewis, Correa, and Buxton are the most unreliable trio of “star” players in the game. And our pitching just is meh.
The Twins batters couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat. Cant hit, steal or run the bases. Constantly swinging at garbage. Idk how they scored as many runs as they have and won as many games as they did
Ownership has done this franchise no favors, but Falvey adds more gas to the dumpster fire by usually getting nothing in return or continued damaged goods for major league assets like Jose Berrios, Taylor Rogers, Mitch Garver and Jorge Polanco. And please don’t tell me the Berrios trade has worked out for both teams. We currently have one player on the MLB roster for those 4 players.
I would be fine if they traded for pure prospects, which they don't. Instead of investing the money saved from trading those players in free agency, ownership pockets those savings
The schedule is a gift to the Twins. Worst NL team comes to town for three. Just pretend they are the White Sox and go 3-0! Then the Orioles come in for three. They will be tuning things up for their hosting an upcoming wild card series. So the Twins won't be facing the top of their rotation. Twins get by but a first round playoff exit. Thank goodness for the watered down playoff system!
Only if Baltimore doesn’t get swept by the NY. If they do get swept they will need to win at least 2 from the Twinkies, if Detroit or KC win all 6, otherwise they will not get home field for the Wild card series. Not that I think the Twins have any chance to sweep them, but the could actually even miss the playoffs if they lost all six of their remaining games.
no way dude… they are 2 games behind the tigers with 5 to play. tigers are the hottest team in baseball and and with the whitesox. and now they lost to Miami. it’s over.
Jettisoning Farmer, Kepler, Vazquez, Margot, Thielbar and DiSclafani would save $45 million off the books. Trade Julien, Larnach and Kiriloff and Alcala. Get some pitching (hopefully left handed) and a decent catcher. I think it’s time to get rid of Paddack too, he’s been an albatross around the Twins’ neck. Even with the present lower budget they could do this.
We can still do this! The Royals are tanking and they have 6 tough games on the road! Atlanta is playing for their shot too! The Rays are playing spoiler! We need these next 6 games to be the best of our season, otherwise we are done! Let’s go Twins!
Someone has to be held accountable for this embarrassing collapse. It really feels like the players have given up. Zero urgency and total lack of any grit or fight.
If Pohlads are to overspend it should start with minor league coaching. Develop players who won't swing and miss twice and then watch called 3rd strike. And of course develop strong pitching. Maybe 7 innings for starters?
People shouldn’t beat around the bush with this organization or this season. It’s been an utter disaster and disgrace. This team is stuck in get into the playoffs and not trying to win the playoffs. We have guys who can’t stay healthy enough to be an aircraft carrier (buxton, Lewis, and Correa) for the team to build around. We have too many guys that we are also relying on that are just trying to establish themselves in the big leagues to make win. This front office is a joke. We go spend money to bring Correa in, extend buxton and Pablo, but we won’t go much further. We have more trade capital than ever but I am sure we will hold onto it for dear life. as a life long fan, this season has pushed me out further then any other year. I hope we don’t make it in TBH so we can make changes or really shine the light on everything
It is true: Twins have no identity. Going back to CC Sabathia, through 2016, to today, Cleveland's is starting pitching. Milwaukee fields balanced teams with competent, reliable relievers. Are we Johan Santana's Team? Joe Mauer's? Are we Pirhanas? Are we a slugging Bomba Sqaud? Correa's and Buxton's team? Who knows? Call us the Minnesota Tofus. No discernible flavor.
This team is a joke we lost to the Marlins. There’s no excuse for that. Rocco needs to be fired at the end of the year we’re done we’re not making the class ownership doesn’t care if they win. They want to fill the stand so let’s try next year to have low ratings for attendance, I wish there was a way you could fire ownership. We need new owners that want to win not ones that want good attendants and that’s it. That’s all they’ve ever wanted is attendance. I guess I will be cheering for the Royals or the Tigers at least there aren’t a ship wants to win

It’s definitely not a great order of operations
@@BrejetyKirby the players got yelled at for the coach's and management decisions, I would have tuned out of the season as well.

Agree. Total clubhouse-losing decision right there

Dec asks what is one things the Twins do well? Field drainage
Leadership starts at the top, the rot from ownership seeps down to every part of the organization, 33 years since MN last world series run.

The Twins could be much smarter in their use of analytics. They make too many decisions based strictly on analytics with very little thinking.
Cmom Trevor, you need to manage this team!!

Don’t forget Falvey giving away for peanuts Brent Rooker an All Star in 2023 and 2004 and is hitting .300+ this year with 42 homers!
@@Razorbacks1for a pitcher that's had TJ's surgeries and a catcher that has no defensive skills. Lol
