- Our trip to the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town was a long-awaited adventure fuelled by the constant allure of watching marine life and ocean activities from our apartment. The anticipation in the car as we made our way to the Aquarium was palpable. It had been quite a few years since our last visit, 20 to be exact, and the excitement was infectious. Upon arrival, the charm of the penguins stole our hearts as they were being fed, their adorable antics leaving us captivated. The sharks, though initially intimidating, proved to be less threatening than their usual portrayal, yet their presence added a thrilling edge to the experience. The variety and vibrancy of the fish and other marine animals on display were nothing short of spectacular. Overall, our visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium was a delightful and memorable experience, making it a definite must-see for anyone exploring Cape Town. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our time there. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #twooceansaquarium #capetown

Hi Sonja and Curtis. That Aquarium sealed the deal for me. You two are really enjoying God's beautiful creatures.❤
Reminds me quite a lot of the Durban Aquarium (at the Ushaka Marine Park down on the beachfront). I think Ushaka is a bit more recent - "built for the tourists that didn't come in 2010" - apart from for the World Cup matches -- and understandably. The cylindrical jellyfish display, for instance, is just about the same. Makes me think maybe you can get certain displays from "the big-aquarium shop" somewhere in, say, Germany.
So that means I think it's fantastic, BTW.
Went to a nice, smaller aquarium in Düsseldorf, Germany, once, quite a long time ago, and enjoyed it for the different angle they took. They had a much bigger freshwater section than you get in a normal seaside aquarium, with a really fascinating Amazon section (small, but very interesting). OK, so maybe I just love aquariums, then?
I think your "back garden" has pretty much a lifetime's worth of interesting stuff to see. Should keep you occupied for quite a while. Watch out for all the "semigrants" that then come heading your way.
Edit: If you want to hear the story of a lobster who escaped the cooking pot, I think you'll love *Keeping a Grocery Store Lobster as a Pet* (he's still alive, and his name is now Leon). ruclips.net/video/9sI7WveN7vk/видео.html
We love aquariums too, we just don't get to visit them often enough! 🐙🦀 We're just too happy about any lobsters escaping the pot, so will definitely check out Leon's story. 😍🦞

Thank you for another wonderful video! I absolutely loved sharing your visit to the aquarium. Your feathered friend at the restaurant was a female red-winged starling, and it was lovely to hear that the staff are gentle with them. I look forward to your next adventure.
Hi you two! Thank you for this great visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium. They have just about EVERYTHING to be found in our oceans, and more, on display in the most effective and wonderful way. Thank you for passing on not only the visuals but also valuable information. One could spend more than just a day to marvel at the sea life there. I am looking forward to your next surprise!
Keep safe!
Goodness, I've not been there in 25 years. Many improvements.

I love Cape Town - thank you for this video! I hope if possible you can someday visit the Castle and film a nice tour of that as well. It's difficult to find a video where the flow of the building, especially of the interiors and its treasures, are really captured.

are those blacktip sharks?
I don't remember seeing blacktip sharks, but I'm no shark expert, so I won't be able to tell you for sure. 🤷🏻♂️🦈
Don't these beauties suffer in captivity?
Pieter, the gentleman we spoke to on camera, is a volunteer at the Aquarium and he explained that the sunfish we enquired about, was released because it wasn't doing well in captivity and they do switch out the older animals for younger ones in some of the tanks. I'm no expert in marine life, but after having visited and seeing the passion with which the folks go about their duties, my mind is at ease that should any living organism in their facility suffer, it will be released. The sunfish was a great attraction about 20 years ago, but was released for its own well-being. It is also worth noting the extent they go to to make sure that it is recorded exactly how many fish each African penguin eats in order to determine behavioural changes. While I'm not a fan of animals in captivity, I feel good about this place and our children and us would know so little about these creatures if it weren't for places like these. 😍🐡🦀🐟🦈🪼🦑🦞
@@DustBugsTravel Thank you very much for your detailed reply. I would love to go to the coastal cities of SA, but as a white guy, I am concerned about the crime and the safety of my wife and mostly my 2 yrs old.
