What is your favorite carrying case for your gear?
I like using peak design bags for everything including audio!
Good question. I have been looking at this one when you made that guide on wavereport. It looks really nice. I am leaning in between this one and a Zuca one. I think I'll build one around a zuca allterrain in the end since I usually go by train, so the big wheels will help with transportation.
Can someone give suggestions on how to replace the casters on the cart?
My favorite case was "acquired" from my wife, who is a midwife. It is a compartmentalised home birth kit and has separate spaces for cables, mics, accessories, wireless sets, etc etc. Think outside the box people!
Hey, really helpful review! What are the exact dimensions of your cart?
Hi sir, Totally agreed!
In my older days ('80s) when only Senn416, AKG, AudioTechnica built Ikegami as well as Nakamichi microphones were available, these shot gun mics helped me saved a lot of production costs in TV/Theater commercials by doing all the VOs on spot of the location shoots before the talents are going home. With a shot shotgun mic with good sensitivity, I didn't need any sound booth at all, a shot shotgun can easily convert any set to a temporary sound booth.
My limited experience also tell me that a shotgun mic actually do not has any phase issue in a sound booth and well acoustic control room too!
Lol, I'm not even a sound engineer, but these videos are too interesting. I appreciate how well you've got it laid out. Thanks for the video
Super useful - thanks for this Andrew! Love this one! And can't wait for that pencil mic to start shipping!

I have a super useful tip, when you use a Zoom F8 and don’t want to buy expensive powering devices:
Use a Powerbank (10000-30000mAh) and buy this cable:
www.amazon.de/dp/B075DDRF5W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GigCDbHPE7V3B
Its a lot cheaper than all the other devices I’ve seen yet. I you this for a year right now and it never failed.
Shouldn’t be an adv. just noticed that I’ve always seen the same Batteries, and wanted to share this.
@@alexsi512 Thank you for this🙏🏽
What is the make and model of the FM transmitter for the follow car?
That cart has been a game changer for me. One of the best things I have brought and i've spent 10s of 1000s on Kit over the last 5 years. Thank You So Much For This Video
which cart is it? I am looking to buy it
Been in this business for over 30 years and I am still learning. Loved your suggestion for the cart as I am making one for my 13 year old. Just got it in and he LOVES it. Perfect height as well. I know he's young, but a cart gives him a sense of ownership (And he's got my old Cantar X2 so he BETTER have something to put it on). When he gets older and starts run and gun, odds are I'll get him whatever version of Xoom is out at the time. Thanks again
Awesome is the word man. Your presentation was superb. Though I am new in this field of Audio. I just like it. Great job.
100% agree about the Olympia cart, it's one of the best investments I've ever made! Use it on every gig.
Thanks Andrew, great content as always!
- Stefan
I have and love that cart!!! Great video guys. I can’t get enough of these yummy tips.
I started with the smaller one from Olympia then moved to the larger one. I have a gooseneck light mounted on the handle and a small solar generator for usb and 110vac without having to plug into a wall outlet.
@@DIYCameraGuy Cool! I got both the small and large and find them both useful.
Any recent developments?
Lol I love the fold up audio cart it's very convenient on set or location production.
Do you have a recommended more robust option?
A more robust what? cart? bag? pole?
Love the cart and the boom pole holder. You didn't put a part name for the bottom part of the boom pole holder. Did you make that?
The aputure bag at the bottom instantly caught my attention and wondered throughout if you were even gonna address it haha. Loved this style video super useful.
Also it was nice meeting you at the 10 years of Film Riot event 😊
Great video! I'd love to see a video on best practices for limiting.... like when you have talent that goes from whispering to shouting.
Helpful video for my production. 🙌🏾👍🏾
This is really helpful. At the beginning of the video, I would have liked to see each of the equipment in the sound bag removed and shown properly to us while you were going through them
I'd love to know where you sourced the small cup at the bottom which your BOOM POLE SETS INTO.. The clamp does not work well without that cup! Did you 3D print it?
He answers that below.
this is amazing, love this channel
Hi...great video⚡️⚡️. Would u add a link to find and purchase the bottom of the boompole holder? I buy the cart ...i love it!! I can't thank u enough for this video🙏🙏
Such great content! Thank you! Could you elaborate on the Battery Distribution system? Links for purchase if possible?
Thanks guys! very informative, gave me ideas on how to manage and organize my goals for a bag and table! you guys rock
Informative 👍👍
Dude!,...this video IS GOLD!. Thanks so much for all the super useful tips
What do you use for bottom of the boom pole?
Quick fist mounts on the top, what is at the bottom?
I would love links to a gear list. This is great!
What bottom part does the boom rest on at 4:12 as the boom holder? Looks to be different from the top part
Acts as a stop/cup, stops the pole from sinking down to the ground
what the name of the radio transmitter from you cart to the radio when you are doing car shoot plz
We've got the Deity timecode stuff now, so how about Deity IFBs? Because I'm down for that, those things are beyond my budget.
Appreciate the info
Have you any thoughts on replacing the casters for larger pneumatic wheels to take this specific cart out of the soundstage and outside? I have the same cart and am wracking my brain trying to figure out a conversation... frankly, I'm not spending $1000+ on a sound cart.
Problem is 5" nicer casters cost more than the whole cart... so hard to justify the mod. Many people do it though.
Maybe we need to do an upgraded 2022 video.
@@DeityMicrophones have you seen any of the mods? I've been trying to find an example and am coming up short.
@@JosephGoldsmith there is a FB group for Olmypia cart users
can you also provide links to the BDS and zoom model etc? Thanks!
ok the Kart was cool.. i want one.
Wear did you get the fm transmitter for the cars.
Great content, thanks for all the info!
killer breakdown of a pro setup!
Can anybody explain the process of sticking the device to the camera for time code at 8:46? I’m confused about that process
I can understand the issue with Magliner. Had the big one with upper shelf. Did a job in NY. They sent a car to carry me and my gear. haha I decided to walk to four blocks with the Mag because it was easier than loading in the car just to get it back out at the next spot. Way too big.
Yup. I had a Rock N Roller R12 with a top shelf and DJ shelf. SKB rack case with sliding shelf for my control surface that was connected to my recorder.... it was just too big to be practical for the mass majority of my work.
Amazing video man! So much work put into this video! Really professional!
Next video- please give us real life examples of how you would record (with what) for different locations (outside, big room, wind, traffic...) and situations.
I ordered the quickfist boompole holder but how do I go about getting the part that holds it at the bottom? It seemed to have fit your pole perfectly.
Buy a 2" PVC cap and drill in a hole in the side for a bolt to connect it to cart.
Awesome video, subscribed today and already browsed through all of your channel.
It'd be great if you could do more in depth videos like this one, the five minute ones are great, but they feel like there's more to be said.
Looking forward for future content 👍
What is at the bottom of the cart for the boom pole?
per Andrew's last response:
"I designed it in Sketchup and 3D printed it. But you can do the same thing by drilling a hole into a 2" black PVC cap and use a bolt to attach it to bottom shelf. add 2x rubber gaskets between the PVC cap and the shelf to add friction so the cup doesn't spin freely."
Nice COMTEK I have the same ones!
They still work great. They may be older but if you find a clean frequency for your city, they can be a very affordable option.
Where did you get the bottom cup thing for the boom pole?
Andrew 3D printed this himself! Here is the link if you're interested: ttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4886294
Great video! Very useful. A cushion for a pelican case is a nice addition. Everyone sits on them, why not make it comfortable?
Was wondering what is your Boom pole resting on? I see the Quick Fist at the top, but there is a pad its rest on at the bottom...
I also had the same question.
Definitely overkill for the typical RUclips production, but very cool to see and full of useful ideas!
I LOVE that cart!!!
How did you attach the carpet?
Would you recommend mounting a mixer to this cart?
Good video I wish I had a sound bad like that nice.
Give me a link for the tiny Shark FIn.... I love it.
We are shooting a video on how to build one for yourself.
worth watching to the end just to see that cart fold up! 10/10
I heard you mention going through the TSA. What would be the best solutions for prepping for international travel?
Can‘t find those Ikea pouches on their website, what‘s the product name of those?
Where can I find some cart like this?
He picks up his bag with one hand at ease.
Me: dies inside looking at my orca bag.
Do you have any videos on how to use the equipment? Ex.) For someone who knows the foundation and theory behind all of the equipment but has never actually used it before.
Thanks, that was a brilliant video. Very insightful. I'd like to know more about the timecode bag. Im setting up a small podcast studio at home and I'm torn between using stationary mirrorless camera like the A7Siii or using a network camera that automatically tracks and follows my movement. If I get up to teach something on a whiteboard for example. It would be good to know how to sync a multi camera setup.
Also, I trained in sound engineering and so post processing of sound was always important, but it seems many RUclipsrs dont pay much attention to this eg noise removal, compresssion/de-essing/excitation etc. I'd like to know your RUclips sound process from recording levels, to post, feedback elimination, mastering and final output levels compression. Thanks in advance. Great channel! 👍
For the most part, we don't process the sound on our RUclips channel. We do a minor mouth de-click pass and some basic EQ to add some highs into Andrew's voice bc it's very raspy in real life.
@@DeityMicrophones Thanks for that very fast reply. Your brand isblooking very good right now. Gonna definitely have to check out your products more! Thank you!
Is there a way you can utilize the quick fist holder to attach your boom pole to your person without the need for a sound cart? May be beneficial in super fast paced shoots as well for Boom ops who don't has much kit to warrant the need for a cart.
What is the piece at the bottom of the cart?
Great content.. We're just starting here in Sydney so super useful!
what is the piece you have on the bottom of the cart to hold the boom?
hi, i would like to know what type/brand of lav mic sounds close or identic to a shotgun. i would like to invest in one to improve my sound on lavaliers
W.Lav Pro would be the closest
That W.lav pro looks real nice in your bag........... :)
You noticed that huh ;-)
Hello Andrew, great video and useful tips. I've ordered my cart for the same application but want to know where did you get the bottom support your boom pole is resting on? I believe this question has been asked before? Thanks.
I designed it in Sketchup and 3D printed it. But you can do the same thing by drilling a hold into a 2" black PVC cap and use a bolt to attach it to bottom shelf. add 2x rubber gaskets between the PVC cap and the shelf to add friction so the cup doesn't spin freely.
@@DeityMicrophones I was able to get some items from my local hardware store that did the trick. Thanks for the advice. Now, next on my list is a shark fin antenna.
Hi Andrew, any chance of you posting the Sketchup file so we can 3D print our own boom pole holder?
Any chance someone knows the name of the part that the foot of the boom pole sits in at 4:12?
Andrew 3D printed this himself! Here is the link if you're interested: ttps://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4886294
You can use a 2 inch pvc cap works great and Cheap! And you can get the rubber pole holder at your local hardware store!
Can you do what's in your Sound Bag video? Awesome video as always
This is great, thank you for the video!
Where can I get the the 3D printed cup that holds the bottom of the boom pole?
PVC 2 inch cap at any hardware store, $2.00!
holy crap, you thought of everything!
can you tell me more about the coms mean how you get it on the ratio in the follow car ?
He's using the car radio in the follow car - it's a FM broadcast band transmitter.
Have you ever had issues using rechargeable batteries for devices which provide phantom power? I get a weaker sound level doing that, so I must use normal batteries in order to don't have problems. Am I missing any trick?
I love the setup! 😄
Hey hi, love ur vids man, ur rig looks n seems to work well with the way uv configured it, what really interested me was the sharkfin antennae, can u pls share what sharkfins u using.warm regards.
Thank so much, 👍
Thanks so much.
Man what’s that arm the shark fin is attached to !? U never mention it :p really need to know
Useful! thank you so much.
Is there a link to the cart you are using?
OMG that folding cart is clutch. Can't wait to get mine.
But at the end of the day... great video.
Yeaaaaa.... Andrew has a crutch phrase lol
you make fantastic videos!
Omg what a nice video, by the way i really need this antena 🥺
Where can I buy that boom pole holder??!!
hey, i love you. keep doing this
Vidéo très utile ! Merci
Andrew, I have to commend you on a much more mature and professional presentation. 1000% better than the other videos I’ve seen you do. Great job!
Love the folding cart idea!
That's pretty cool!
Hello Andrew,
Thanks for all this useful info you are sharing with us! I had one question, what fm transmitter are you using? Because once you type fm transmitters you see all the bluetooth junk for phones to radio, yours looks to have a very sturdy antenna.
Kind regards
Pedro
I'd also like an answer to that.
@@DirtyDadeChico I would like to know as well. Thx
same
Carts like this are great, except that there is no way I'm goign to be able to buy that from Amazon anywhere and pay for postage to Aotearoa - even from Australia if they have one. Naming a brand and style would be very helpful for people who don't have an Amazon in their country.
What bag do you have your mixer and recievers in?
What Kind of fm transmitter is this? Or does it work with a Basic Standard one?
This is a 200mw FM transmitter. It can transmit upto a city block, perfect for car to car rigs
@@DeityMicrophones but who makes it?
anyone know where to get the bottom boom pole holder at 4:10?
Its 3D printed
@@DeityMicrophones Thanks for the reply
Lots of info to unpack!!! I’m not nearly at the level where I need this setup. Eventually I will though!! 😉
How to do sound for a talk show please!
is this cart the 150 lb or the 300 lb pay load?
This is the 150lb cart. The 300lb cart is bigger (not that that is a bad thing.) but the 150lb cart fits nicely sideways in the backseat of a car.
@@DeityMicrophones thank you! just bought one.
@@DeityMicrophones Thx. I just bought one as well.
Have you build det power switch thing your self? :-) Nice video!
Yea. Andrew did a lot of DIY and mods before he launched Deity. Should we do a bag breakdown?
At the end of the day :)
