    I'm in Copperas Cove, TX and you have helped me SOOO much. I've been
    binging on your videos for a month now. I'm still very hesitant on
    handling my little Snow with bare hands or letting her out of the pouch
    or cage. I'm a mom of 5 boys and just love how they still kiss mommy. I don't know how you keep your house so clean all the time either! 5 boys 17-3 it's interesting up in here. LOL

    Oh! I just saw the part where you mention his funny sound he makes (the singing sound).. my male does this too when he’s excited. Usually it’s only female gliders that make this sound (mother gliders especially), but you’re only like the second or third male glider owner I’ve come across who experienced this! I find that it’s usually vocal gliders that do this, which my Chunk is very vocal. He’ll do it when I take him out for the first few min or he gets his first snuggles of the night.

    I have a new baby too (our FIRST!!!). When Bruce started making his "fun" sound she started doing her call for mom!!! He's so cute and I can't wait to see this bonding process as we have a new joey that is used to humans but I'm just SO afraid of her getting away and not coming back and being lost in our house.

      I completely understand that. Start handling her in a controlled safe room to get a good idea of her body language and see how much she jumps off 🥰

    He has such pretty colors. Looks like he will end up being a big boy. I have a girl who is almost double the size of my other 2 girls. Weird how some gliders are just bigger. Goes to show people that even though you have spent time with him at the breeders house, the change in environments is scary to the little gliders and you need to give them time to settle in and get used to their new home and to you. Great video, think it will be helpful to new owners.

      Yes! This is exactly why I left all the crabbing in the video and didn’t just include the sweet parts.

    Funny Kim, because when I got a new little girl I also did not quite leave her alone because she had been handled sooo much and she was so sweet I kept her with me and she was happy that way. I waited a few days - intro did NOT go well at all!
    I kept her separate in a travel cage next to the big cage for weeks, one night I heard one of my girls (my sweetest girl) “chatting” to her, so I knew they were likely friends. I introduced again, my sweet girl Yogi loved her, my other girl Daisy tried to kill her and I separated again. Simon was just scared of the new girl.
    By this time Ozzie (new) was getting lonely I could just tell and I felt very guilty she did not have a friend yet. So I divided the big cage. Yogi/Ozzie on top, Daisy/Simon on bottom. There was one section that was wire where they could see each other… at first there was bickering between the two levels.
    I waited and waited months until most of the bickering had stopped. Then knowing Simon was my 2nd friendliest I introduced Simon back to Ozzie & Yogi. Went fine!!! So now I had 3 & 1 (again!) with Daisy now separated. And now I had guilt - again. But Daisy is aggressive. She has always been the most aggressive one, never really liked me, while my others really like me lol
    Daisy remained separated for about a month or so - which by that point there was no bickering between the divided sides of the cage… I could tell she was now the one wishing she had a friend while sweet Ozzie (new girl) and the other 3 were all together.
    I decided it was time to introduce Daisy again. Fingers crossed!! So I did, I let her see Ozzie again, and would you know? She jumped out of my hand and went straight to Ozzie and cuddled her. NO FIGHTING! The reverse separation worked to calm down Daisy & I guess you could say take her down a notch… she was probably first in the pecking order and adding a new glider totally screws up everything in the cage lol she would have killed her if I just put Ozzie in there at the start. It was a slow process, I know it’s not always this slow and I was scared it would NEVER work, and we vacation with our gliders so I couldn’t figure out how would I take 2 cages on vacation if I had to have 2 pairs instead of a colony of 4??
    Well like I said - it worked. The slow reverse separation - New girl Ozzie alone in travel cage, then Ozzie & my sweetest girl Yogi together, then adding the neutered boy Simon, finally adding back Daisy.
    I have no clue if this was wrong or if anyone ever did this before to introduce a new glider but I did it and it worked for me, now the cage is open back up and all 4 are together.
    Total time it took was about 6 months. It was not easy. There were days I thought this will never ever happen and I was disheartened thinking maybe I made the wrong choice but I love them all!!!
    I am so glad it worked. Everyone is happy now. ❤️ Congrats on your new kid! He’s so cute. Ozzie loves cuddling and she’s so happy with 3 friends now, and Daisy isn’t as aggressive towards me lol…

      Yes this technique is highly recommended! As long as the part separating the two colonies is closed or separated enough so they can’t reach a foot or piece of a tail or anything. Sometimes putting the aggressor in “time out” gives them an attitude adjustment. 🥰

      @susancrackedeggletj5556 2 года назад

      @@sugargliderdiaries there was a small space to see but no she couldn’t “get to her” (the new one) and yes that is exactly what happened - she had a big attitude adjustment lol I felt bad doing it but it was the only thing I could think of and everything I saw online just said keep trying to introduce them - well that did NOT work that way lol but I am so glad that now everyone is happy again. So it was worth my “guilt” lol

    So very happy for you! He's so cute and sweet! Thank you documenting everything. Your family seems equally excited to have him home. He is such a healthy guy too! My joey Penelope is 10 weeks old this week and she's up to 57 grams. I have her in a cage by herself and I'm still feeling nervous about adding a wheel just yet. I think waiting until she's around 70 grams is probably sufficient though. I'm really looking forward to seeing how your intro's go. I'm sure they will be fine. I've heard positive things about adults usually being quick to accept joeys into the colony. Thank you again for sharing your life and personal experience Kimberley!

    Congrats on the new addition. After your recent loss I'm sure it's a much needed boost to your spirits. He's such a gorgeous glider. It's almost a shame he won't reproduce cause his babies would be awesome! We recently just got a ringtailed split face mosaic boy who is such a cutie as well. One black ear one whitish pink one but he's gonna be a breeder. Can I ask why you haven't considered breeding? Seems like you know enough and have the experience!

    Hello! - I just got my first sugar glider, and he came with his sleeping pouch, AND a open environment pouch. I took the sleeping pouch out, and left him with his open environment pouch, and when i take him out, i use his sleeping pouch to snuggle with him. - Is that the right way of doing it?

    Girl….that’s awesome. I am struggling with my new baby. He’s not happy no matter what I do. Listening to your story with Bruce I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong 😑. Binx is my new baby and he was neutered the day we brought him home by the Breeders. I didn’t get any meds sent with him so I’m wondering is he just in pain and that’s why he’s so crabby. I could sure use some guidance. Can’t even fathom introducing him to my other two yet. They are terrified of his crabbing and won’t release from my hand to even try and socialize with him. Help! Please and thank you.

    • @sugargliderdiaries
      @sugargliderdiaries  2 года назад

      How long ago did you get him and how long has it been since his neuter. Some vets you have to request the pain meds and some don’t find them necessary. I just feel lol it can’t hurt anything to be on the safe side.

      @@sugargliderdiaries oh that is awesome. I've only been twice. I could have gone way more since they only live about 30 minutes from me. Probably should have gone way more. Your videos will definitely be helpful when I do finally bring him home. I also may not do the 2-3 day letting them get use to their surroundings. But I'm gonna play it by ear. See how he acts and go from there.
