Unlike some other creators, they have never let the public life seem to affect them.

Greetings from Alberta, Western Canada! So jealous of you starting your garden already, we have a heavy snowfall warning this weekend, March in Alberta always interesting! Have you ever tried letting a couple of your radish go to seed? They have loads and loads of flowers that bees love, and get these delicious pods you can eat raw, they taste like a pea pod to start and end with that zing of radish, eat them before they get woody, you can even pickle them! Ben, I used to own a commercial greenhouse and garden center. We always had thousands of used nursery pots in all different sizes. Some we were able to reuse, but many just sat around taking up space. If there are any greenhouses or nurseries in your area maybe you could check with them to see if they have any pots they would give you or sell cheap. That way you would have plenty of pots, they could get some out of their way, and it would keep more plastic out of the landfill. Win win win!

You can also "corn" chuck or other cuts as well. Corned beef was shipped all over the world and the only cuts still available for the poor jews in NYC were the brisket and navel. Those then became the cuts that were corned. When the Irish were looking for a meat to substitute for bacon (the jewish butchers didn't do bacon) the corned beef brisket took over the role.

Tomorrow carrots, rutabagas, turnups, Swiss chard, other greens & peas. I have some radish & bunching onion seeds from 2008, 2015, 2020. Planted them in a separate bed to see if any of them grow.. who knows they might. Have had a beautiful 5 days of no rain & sun. Friday - Sunday was 68 - 71, today about 65. It’s going to be in 50’s & rain the next 10 days.. 😐.

Sounds like me trying to use up old seeds lol. The little chickies next door came over and wanted me to go outside with them. I’m usually working in the yard when they get home from school but it was blustery yesterday. I asked if they wanted to plant some seeds & they said yes, so I gave them a bulging envelope of marigold seeds from flowers I grew. Before I could finish making my tea they came running inside showing me some camellia red beans 🫘 I planted. They were growing lol. I said go put them back in the ground lol. So cute!! But they planted all the marigolds in one spot up by the road hahaha. I can’t wait until they come up so they can see 🌼🌼🌼 I have a feeling we’ll be doing a lot of transplanting 😊

It was a tad chilly but yet beautiful to be outside planting. Like you, I pulled weeds from 2 beds. Then went and pulled the silage tarp off of one of my long, and tall beds to find a surprise. I'm always careful pulling silage tarps because you don't know what you may find under the tarp(snakes, spiders, mice, ect..). When I lifted the end of the tarp, I saw movement. I instantly dropped the tarp, and grabbed my shovel. Then once again lifted the tarp to see a mouse with babies, and a straw type house. I took my shovel and scooped out the mouse house, and discarded it in the garbage. Mama mouse ran with her babies to a hole (old wood knot that had fallen out) in the wood, and escaped with babies attached to her. That was my excitement for the day. I added more compost to all garden beds, and got them ready for planting.

Great visit with you today; thanks for sharing! Here in Alberta, Canada, I leave dead plant matter standing to shelter the ground from wind, cold & it traps the snow for moisture. We don’t get a lot of rain like you do, so snow melting is how our perennials survive & gives the seeds & little critters moisture. We’ve had beautiful weather but our spring snow is due to fall for the next few days, about 5 inches. Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦

There is nothing like time spent in the garden to soothe the mind. It's fun to throw caution to the wind with old seeds and next winter, you will have awesome, guiltless shopping for new varieties.

We dont always pull plants, but if we do they are thrown in a pile for compost.

I agree! When I bought my home, there was nothingliving. No bug, worms, pill bug nothing. Every year I bring in ladybugs, praying mantis, and earthworms. The gardens are doing well after 7 years, and I leave the 'leavings' after the garden season and it has made a huge difference.

😊❤ you guys are reminding me of how ridiculously old my seeds are. I know MI Gardener found 100 yo tomato seeds and they grew! So i never worried. But the rate of success in my old seed probably will suffer. Thanks for starting off the spring ( as i listen to crowing roosters down street and my 9 in the backyard at dawn). They are terribly rough on the 12 hens. Bad ratio, i know.
Meg your getting bigger and more beautiful each video 😊

Carrots is one thing I never tried growing and always regretted it because I LOVE carrots, weather raw or cooked. Where my garden was located, we had families of little bunny rabbits in there continually. So I'm sure they would have robbed my carrots!🐰 I envy you getting to plant garden! That was always something I loved doing from when I was Buggie's age! I love planting veggies almost as much as I love 😅eating them!😊

I want to thank you for your recent steamed Chard idea. I did that the other day with my Chard and we loved it. A little butter, salt and pepper, it was delicious. I used to salute it with bacon and onions but this way was better. Thanks again for sharing this recipe with us.
