Well redemption is still possible, NMS was the perfect example of what I still consider a perfect fraud... yet it managed to fix and redeem itself with hard work, whoever has faith in similar scenarios or is a fanboy will go there for sure. Not me though, however I really hope they'll make a great redemption.
@Lady Wanderer Eh, not really. This is a big disaster launch, which wouldn't be so bad if not for the colector's edition bait and switch marketing. It's not better, it's just as bad if not even worse.
@Lady Wanderer Yes and no in my opinion. No, because Activision-Blizzard have a fanbase that literally doesn't care about the quality of the games they release (Not Diablo, but Call of Duty department i'm refering to), giving minimal backlash on whatever their pr says. If Bethesda's apology are just empty words, it'll be even more disrespectful. Yes, because you're absolutely right.
Making amend of their faults speaks louder than apologizing. They could never state an apology and I can still have some hope for them if they fix the features and refund CE items/send buyers the actual canvas bags.
First impressions are everything in the gaming world. If a game fails at launch on such a massive scale, like this one, then people aren't going to come back.
What in the hell happened to these guys man? If you were to ask me in 2012 or thereabouts who my favorite video game developers were, I wouldn't even hesitate to say "Bethesda Game Studios", but they've turned into the very thing I thought they stood against, once upon a time. So sad what greed, deception, and laziness will do to people you once had respect for. It's one of those "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed" kind of feelings.
Best I can think of is Loss of Trademark concerns as to why they made this game. They may be thinking the next Fallout game is further out than the 10 years trademarks are good for.
@@cendark That's fair. But if they are going to get redemption, they kinda have to do what Final Fantasy 14 did. Shut down the game and re-launch it as a great game. This game can't become good with just some bug fixes.
If you’re buddy was willing to pay you $5, I might say you should take it off his hands. If you have to pay even a single red cent to buy this game, I wouldn’t even consider it.
I don't really want this game to succeed, I don't want Bethesda or any game studio get away with this kind of behaviour and for once have to deal with the consequences. Atleast Hello Games owned up to their poor release of No Man's Sky, they didn't try to downplay it or outright ignore the issues, they worked their ass off to improve the game and deliver what they initially promised and now it's a pretty solid game. I very much respect them for that and I hope others will also appreciate that. They deserved most of the hate they got for the most part, but then I do hope people also give credit where credit's due and reward this type of behaviour, change their bad reviews etc.
Hello Games didn't have 10 years of marketing, fan fervor, and blind acceptance for constantly degrading game performance, mechanics, and engine problems. A company doesn't get to fail on its first game release and live all that often.
I'll give Hello Games props for continuing to work on NMS and actually try to do right by people who still play, but I won't condone the original release, and I'm still upset that the game NEEDED that time and for the poor marketing that obfuscated the game. Go back and watch old NMS adverts and marketing and media hype. It looks and sounds like Snake Oil looking back. We need games like Destiny 2, Fallout 76 and other unfinished AAA games to absolutely fail. I'm sick of this "release now, fix it later" mentality. We are not paying £40/$60 for Beta or Early Access, or an extra £20/$25 for DLC that promises "new content" but just adds in features that should've been there to begin with. And this assumes they even bother to fix them at all. We need to stop pre-ordering (There is no stock shortage in the age of digital releases), we need to stop getting suckered into CE editions or super special pre-order tiers (If you want them that badly and have the cash, go ahead, but the rest of us should be more discerning with our hard earned cash), and we need to be patient and wait for people we trust to give us their impressions before parting with our cash. Companies have proven they will do whatever they can get away with, so we need to stop letting them get away with it in the only way they will EVER understand, with our money. If we don't, this industry will have innovation and creativity squelched from it completely and we'll lose any semblance of a decent game. Then what will we do with our free time? Go outside? :P
@@blackcitadel9 I think NMS got shit on pretty hard initially, and whilst some people took it too far, like they always do, most of it was deserved. But I think if you are the type of person to shit on a game for a poor release, you should also acknowledge when they do the right thing and buckle down, rather than to just abandon the game. Ofcourse we shouldn't promote the 'release now, fix later' games but atleast with NMS it was a bit of a different situation, and at the end of the day it's the people who pre-order the game or just buy it at launch that cause this. Bethesda already earns millions before the game is even launched and millions more at launch thanks to people who put blind faith into these companies and hands over a lump of cash without even knowing what they're going to get, and why.. you just NEED to play a game 1 or 2 days early, you need to have whatever skin they are offering for pre-orders? Doesn't matter if $60 is a lot of money to you or not at all, it's a stupid way to handle your money either way. Make developers convince you to buy their game by releasing a good game, prove that it's worth your money. I didn't buy NMS, I didn't buy Fallout 76 and both times i'm comfortable on the sideline watching this shit unfold, not needing them to fix the game so I didn't end up wasting me money, not needing to like the game because I have money invested in it. Maybe i'll pick up NMS one of these days on sale for a nice price, and i'll get a way better game and way more content than those who pre-ordered, and none of the frustration.
So a number of promised updates that add basic features and things that should've been ironed out in a beta combined with a backhanded apology? This feels like something meant for shareholders rather than players.
@@burningphoenix6679 I'm a bit confused on Bethesda's situation too, but I just got kind of feeling that I'm looking at something designed for potential investors or current shareholders not to back out with that document.

Hello Games didn't have 10 years of marketing, fan fervor, and blind acceptance for constantly degrading game performance, mechanics, and engine problems. A company doesn't get to fail on its first game release and live all that often.

So they didn't address the backlash for the Canvas bag and the 500 Atoms exchange for being ripped off? LOL.
It will be addressed in court.
People of Skyrim = us
Aldmeri Dominion = bethesda
Damned elves. I bet they had something to do with this!
Couldn’t have said it better myself YongYea, as Beta tester, small serv admin and moderator for another small indie team. ( Beast of Bermuda ) this has been worst game launch and the only way they could fix this. Is scrap every thing and start fresh with different game engine. Like Using Unreal engine. We Know no matter what they do too this engine. It will still be more buggy then skyrim, oblivion or fallout 3-4
Players should just all stop playing it. It’s the only way for our voices to be heard.

scool41 wait what?
Thank God Rockstar at least had the decency to not open the shop during the beta.

Can i get a refund for the normal $60 version of 76? I just want my money back at this point
Celestial Dragon purchasing a game with glitches shouldn’t be okay. It’s not just Bethesda either.
@@CelestialDraconis Actually, people do have the right to complain. Some of them have the right to complain in a very legal way, too. They also have the right to a refund.
Bethesda needs to basically "Go Away" for a few years 💀💀
GO. AWAI
Like they do when they release a game every time? Nice original thinking.
But didnt they? They released nothing but Skyrim over and over for years
@@hotpockets2224 They literally said they only did it because people kept buying it. And went on to say that if people didn't keep buying it, they wouldn't keep selling it
