Being a suicide survivor (my son), this song could have been written by me. I just relate so much, every corner of this house is him, his voice… every memory. It’s a tomb, and I need to get out of it, it just hurts too much. It’s hard to remember the person I was before, how do I walk around with that giant traumatic loss etched into me, how do I interact with people, who am I now?
I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your loss. I can't imagine that pain you have felt and the strength it takes to continue on. Your comment has helped provide more context to this song for me, so thank you very much for sharing. Be well, my friend
@@lynzistringer thank you, I always say, when someone says they can’t imagine, I’m so so happy that you can’t. I’m not sure it’s strength, there are many times I don’t feel strong at all. Everyone is left with so many questions. It changes how you see the world. I never want to be the reason for anyones bad day, I believe, strongly, in random acts of kindness. If I see a young family at the same restaurant we are at, if we can, we pay their bill and make sure to sign it, from Jared. I want people to say his name.
His friend jumped off the bridge from the main land to an island, Ren was texted by another friend but arrived too late to intervene, Joe's body was swept away by the sea and never found.
The song relates to Rens best friend Joe who ended his life. Ren has looked at this time in other pieces one of which is Suicide which explains events more.
@@lynzistringerRen has given many glimpses into his past.I get the impression Ren is a glass half full kind of guy. The tragic death of Joe seems to be another example of something that encouraged him to focus on his power something he eludes to in his track Power. He acknowledges much of his hurts but uses it for his amazing work which many seem to understand and connect with. Hence his big fan base. A very talented man as are the people he has collaborated with. He was also part of a fantastic band, The Big Push, who you find also on the RUclips Platform. Enjoy!
@lynzistringer a lot of his music comes from Joe's decision. Freckled Angels is another... some of his friends even opened up a diner and called it Freckled Angels

@@MissyGail4eva Hi, I thought I suggested he was a glass half full kind of guy? Which is why I mentioned Power as an example of that. But hey whatever I think is only an assumption. I could quite easily be an ass and got it wrong.
I love your style of watching it through first and then breaking it down a second time. I feel like that's how I would do it if I were doing a reaction video. I don't think you can really get the best reaction for the first time listening if you keep dropping back out of the mood that his music/art creates for you.
Have listened to this one dozens of times and it still gives me chills up my spine. So powerful. Listen to Su*cide to get a more complete story of his friend Joe’s death.
Ren wrote an essay for the comments of Su!cIde video where he tells the story of his experience of Joe's death. That song is not about suicide. It is Ren's EXPERIENCE of its impact on his life. He does open heart surgery on himself and we are privileged to peer over his shoulder. The point of all this is that you have a great reaction where we get to share your experience of the first listen. So please do more. Have tissues when you react to Su!cIde.
Such a moving song, especially when you know it comes from an authentic place. Btw i like the fact you listen first and then listen again with pauses and your thoughts. Others should do this.
Lynzi …… I’ve been waiting patiently for you to react to Ren again. Great reaction! So glad you’re back, please don’t leave it so long next time. See ya next time 😊

Great reaction! Really looking forward to seeing you do Money Game Parts 1, 2 and 3 (don't skip straight to 3 like so many reactors are doing just because it's new!), and then hopefully "Swan Song" and "Bongo Bong" by The Big Push (Ren's band).
Great reaction(s)! And I don't think you were wrong about the message of the song. Loss of something and the feelings that evokes. For Ren it was his best friend.
I think this song resonates with anybody going through trauma of loosing someone if fact anything close to them. This song broke me my wife of 54 years old passed coming up to 6 months ago suddenly went to work one morning came back home to find her still in our bed so this song resonates with me didn't think I would of made it this far without her but family have kept me going it's just the what ifs could I have done this or that no one knew this was gonna happen there one minute gone the next life's not fair
Dear @rainsontheforth, Yes. One night my husband of 48 yrs. went to bed. I stayed up a couple hrs. cleaning out file drawers. When I went to go to bed, he was gone. That was 4 yrs. ago. I understand everything you said because I lived it. I can tell you that it eases. It never goes away but it eases. After about a year of simply not caring if I lived or not, I realized that I needed to get myself together, if not for myself, at least for the sake of others I love & who love me. I went for a long walk everyday. I read/watched absolutely no news. None. I completely avoided anything that was sad, serious or violent. I actively sought out anything that would make me laugh. TV shows, movies, comedians, ridiculous dog/cat videos, whatever. My goal was to find something that would make me laugh out loud at least once every day. "Laughter is the best medicine"? I can truly say that it did help lift me back to the land of the living. I can't give you any other wisdom. My heart is with you.
I think that they are singing as if they were Rens friend Joe after he died ( suicide). Only the last sentence, sung by Ren, is Ren's thought. Maybe!!!
I'm not sure why people keep spreading this story. It's just not true. I'm pretty sure this is the same roof in Brighton Ren has used in several of his videos (Bongo Bong, Murderer) It's the building he and Romain lived in.

One of the most important songs about grief I’ve ever heard.
