Thank you for this great video! I have a 2013 Boxster S with PDK and PTV differential. I also track my car and I'm planning to change the differential fluid. At this point I'm not sure how to do it and even more importantly, not sure what fluid to use. (limited slip differential) Any chance you're planning to make a video about changing the differential fluid?
Good video. I had my 981S done at 40k miles even though I don't track and even though the change interval is 120K miles or 12 years. Most people recommend changing it at 60k like you do because the 987 and 718 are both a 60k mile interval...so how can 981s be double that? the PDK is also a $20,000 part that generally isn't repaired, its replaced(!). So early changes are imperative. My shop got the aluminum pan for the same price (about $400) as the plastic pan...I found the same metal pan on FCP Euro. That will same me money next time. I understand the dealer uses a PIWIS to get the level perfect and recalibrate the PDK. Is recalibration a real thing, and is it necessary? My indie Porsche shop didn't say it was. Would be great to see a gear oil change video on the same transmission, as this is a separate fluid on PDK's. Thanks!!
Recalibrating is not necessary on absolutely fine working transmissions, modern day transmissions are adopting to your driving style anyways and just the same way they will adapt to new fluid, gear oil change probably will be done soon😉
Nice job! Just did the same on my '05 ZHP with the GM transmission & Dexron VI. Transmission fluid seems to go everywhere, same as you. Just part of the job/experience. I may need to look at the Liquid Moly for the next drain & fill on the F15 X5. ZF fluid is very hard to find now & expensive. Keep the videos coming. Did I see the E70 X5 behind you that you worked on?
I still watch the video even I don't have porches lol 😂 I feel sorry for you when oil drops on your face now I know why they charge so much money I have one request to make if you make a videos how to change engine ground strap and how to replace a battery for BMW x5 2013 And also want to give high five to the person who make a videos with you very nice job

Thank you for your informative vids. I was wondering if you know if you can swap a 6hp21 transmission into a 2007 e90 335i that originally comes with a 6hp19
What are your thoughts on your specific model year 981? Any regrets about not getting a 987? Completely in love with the 981? I’m in the market and I’d love to hear your thoughts on your car
Great car, 987 interior is garbage in my opinion so i never even considered it, 981 s has 911 engine with much lighter car makes it fun to drive, it is quick for sure. I will do a review on this one, stay tuned😉
No, unbranded stuff never works, especially if it’s much lower price crap from ebay or amazon, this is a zf transmission so zf oil pan is a good choice there is an option for metal pan but it costs around 1200$ or so
@@Zeiten I see, so I might risk damaging the transmission with those really cheap ones because the gasket or filter media might break down and get into the transmission?
@@Zeiten Porsche techs would disagree with you. Link is for a Porsche dealer inspection, where they specifically say that it does require an alignment if something is removed there: ruclips.net/video/5tYD6zmwNa8/видео.html
Well good thing is i am a bmw technician😂 as an example after this repair I’ve had 2 full track days and a few months of driving without any alignment issues
You gotta tip your hat to this guy
😁 thank you

Thank you, will do better lighting next time😉

Great, for f15 x5 i would use febi bilstein fluid, behind me is a work x5, old workhorse e53😁

Febi bilstein 39095

Thanx
I need this dude in my area for my 981 cayman and bmw x6

Can’t tell for sure, they are pretty similar, although you’ll definitely need reprogramming

@@Zeiten are you willing to do a PPI for me in the LA area on a 981 when the time comes? 😆
Yeah probably, as long as it’s not salvaged😂
@@Zeiten no frame damage, no salvage! Deal!
👍
what brand is the jack that you are using ? i need something like that in my garage. Thank you.
Ranger quick jack
Hello Zeitan, do I have to replace transmission oil pan when I change the oil?
Yep, has built in filter
Hi.
After changing transmission oil there's message (transmission emergency run)
???????
How many quarts have you put in?
Hello Zeitan, how often do you do the gearset oil for this?
Every 60k miles is just fine
I see. Pdk oil should be changed sooner than that right?
Also do you have the gt3 lca installed for track? The factory alignment would probably get the tires eaten alive on track right?
Is it fine to use aftermarket oil pans from like eBay or something?

I want my car fixed by you I live in California
Ok, we service Los Angeles and some Orange County, send me an email we'll go from there
start in p or n?
Doesn’t matter at all, p is fine
don't remove the support frame you removed!!!!! If removed, you will need an alignment after you put it back.
What support frame are you talking about?
@@Zeiten the one you took off in the beginning of the video. I think you call it a plate.
Ok i see, no you are mistaken, this is a standard reinforcement plate that has nothing to do with alignment at all
