just wanted to say thank you for the crazy amount of nice and encouraging comments really quick. they're too many to thank everyone individually, but I do read every single one. thank you gamers
@@ThevenimX i think he meant the original creator of rollback so probably the dude who created ggpo and not fizzi. all fizi did was find a way to implement rollback netcode for melee but he definitely did not invent it he's still a god tho
@@-_-shakezula yeah but man either way implementing rollback netcode into a game without the backing of a big company like nintendo is super impressive
Fizzi really will go down as a GOAT community member of melee. He has made the single most impressive contribution to this community. We owe him so much (so support his pateron). Great video, awesome edit. People seem to forget that we had some sick ass moments online.
shoutouts to the newer upcoming players who rose up during the online era: Tyler Swift, KoDoRiN, Aklo, Logan, Ben, 2saint, Soonsay, BBB, Polish, and many others. They kept the game's meta and scene going and growing through one of Melee's darkest times, and they'll be the future of as we enter our next era.
I don’t think OP necessarily means these names were unknown before the pandemic, just that they have really cemented their place in the era, vs before where they may have been considered less important figures in the greater narratives
8:22 LMAO I totally forgot about this. Hbox raided Aklo while he was playing link dittos with Axe and the BoxGang started donating insane amount of subs for Aklo to pop off like Hbox lol
One thing I will say is props to ludwig, for hosting LACS, and making proceeds towards charity, basically telling Nintendo to back the back off. He was ready for the lawsuit to see us still play the game and that’s insane to me
This made me realize how great of an era it actually was as a spectator. Seeing new rivalries rise, new players getting access to the top level, players in general getting better than ever at an insane pace, having some old players struggle and therefore creating new narratives. And seeing this era end with summit 11, leaving room to what felt like a new start, from the ashes. It's been a great time that we were all happy when it ended. What a great video to emphasize this. Also big thanks to Fizzi, the community owes you so much. You helped us in so many ways during this year.
Slippi took a period of time that likely could have regressed melee and just absolutely shoved that idea in the ground and literally boosted the level beyond what was even possible.
ayy someone else noticed! yeah that made my day btw that is actually the orchestration version of the song, done by Rush Garcia. Been one of my favorite songs from him
This channel is what makes me believe melee could continue to grow. All it takes is for the algorithm to catch onto one good intro video and this channel would catch the next wave.
Here in Australia we made a documentary for Slippi and how it worked out for us called Rolling it Back on my channel, the online era has truly been a historically strange vibe. Great video!
So many names of players came through my mind when I watched this. SCL was so good you got old dogs like Mang0, Lucky, Plup, Professor Pro, Leffen, Shroomed, Axe, Hungrybox, N0ne, S2j, Gahtzu, Moky, SFAT and more. And then a whole group of breakout players: Faceroll, Ben, Spark, Jmook, JFlex, LSD, Soonsay, Zains (to some extend), Pipsquiek, Aklo, Bobby, Magi, Ginger and of course ibdw going to top 5 I will always remember watching Scl during class and just freaking out cause Spark beat Hbox or that Mang0 absolutly destroyed that one week only dropping 2 games in all Sets... I love Melee Melee is sick
This is beautiful to look back at. I also can't believe it's actually been so long.. slippi was released what, last june? I'll be playing this game till I have returned to dust. And may my progeny succeed me. And may they be sick on the sticks lol
Thank you so much for these videos, I watch them so often whenever I miss some good melee, your skills are insane with these edits, and you always find combos that I missed somehow like that crazy lucky combo at the start Also your music is always fire
I watch this video like once a week. It encapsules the last 1,5 years perfectly. Needing to stay home all day, watching and playing Melee was a huge uplifting part of my day.
Just started playing this game. I always knew its existence and even playes a couple times with friends, but fr now im up to get good at It. I really thing melee golden era is up to come still.
amazing video, would have liked to see some more aklo and kodorin cuz i feel like those two specifically popped off online but amazing production nonetheless
just wanted to say thank you for the crazy amount of nice and encouraging comments really quick. they're too many to thank everyone individually, but I do read every single one.
thank you gamers
This can easily be the best teaser for a movie ive ever seen
Well done, thanks for the quality content my guy.
He needs a Nobel prize lol
Wanted to like it but you're at 69 so just pretend
Thanks for the hype fam
the guy who wrote rollback netcode should get some sort of gaming industry's turing award for outstanding transformational technology breakthrough
Fuck yes that dude put all of melee on his back for almost the entirety of the pandemic
Fizzi is crazy dude

Fizzi, say his name.
melee will never die
Dani a Melee fan?
milkman loves melee too? that's very epic
What is dead may never die.
I think that explains the freedom of movement in Karlson
When will karlson get rollback online

Yes! 2saint was more than relevant befoee online though.

that makes that clip so much funnier
There are so many good Melee content creators right now, but I’m especially happy whenever a new C0rnflake pops up.
One thing I will say is props to ludwig, for hosting LACS, and making proceeds towards charity, basically telling Nintendo to back the back off. He was ready for the lawsuit to see us still play the game and that’s insane to me
Ludwig sitting Nintendo down is definitely a mogul move.
I dont like his content at all but he gives back to his roots. You cant ask more of him. Good man
SICK VID C0RNFLAKE

putting boris johnson in this very good melee video is violence to me specifically
and scott morrison was violating to my eyes
I didn’t realize how many iconic melee moments happened during the pandemic until you put it all together. Awesome vid bro
Holy fuck, this is honestly everything I wanted in a montage for how sick online melee is now. Much love for this, it's perfect.
4:51 an absolute maniac. Phenomenal vid!
thank you so, so much, c0rnflake
8:25 is the single best edit you've ever done
This was worth the wait Flake. Your editing skills are getting better and better with each vid. I wish I was able to do what you do bro. Superb.
Slippi took a period of time that likely could have regressed melee and just absolutely shoved that idea in the ground and literally boosted the level beyond what was even possible.
Slippi didn’t boost the level stfu. Average 2018 melee isn’t much different from average 2021 melee
This gave chills multiple times it was so good.
Amazing as usual cornflake!
Everyone else in the thumbnail: normal popoffs Hunrgybox: *dies*
fucking amazing videos as always, not just a combo video but a slice of history
dude that Brand New Animal music goes so well starting at 2:20
ayy someone else noticed!
yeah that made my day
btw that is actually the orchestration version of the song, done by Rush Garcia. Been one of my favorite songs from him
What a great 2 years it was. If the online era wasn’t a thing, I wouldn’t have met the people I met online today. Thank you Slippi, Thank you

So much happened in such a short time. The community stepped forward and came out better and stronger.
Another banger from the goat
Literally nothing but 10/10s
I hope you know how many people's days your making with these vids, cause my day sure as hell got made
your editing is superb, god this flow is so good :D
ok this editing had no business being this good. extremely well done c0rnflake thanks for summarizing the online era in such a good way
A bizarre trumpet / ska-like cover of the BNA opening was not what I expected in a melee video lmao. Great Video!
Melee is Sick.
And melee continues to grow. What an incredible game we have
c0rnflake doesn't always upload, but when he does... you KNOW it's gonna be flames. amazing as usual, and an era to remember for sure
This channel is what makes me believe melee could continue to grow. All it takes is for the algorithm to catch onto one good intro video and this channel would catch the next wave.
Phenomenal video. I just put it on I wasn't expecting it to be this good!!

Literally always great videos coming from you
Love to have you back man
Keep on making the best smash compilations out there
Sometimes this game and this community just makes me so proud
One combo video to rule them all. Thank you for putting so much detail into this. Melee is nothing without it's content creators.
Jees, this video got me recommended a few of your other videos, and you deserve waaaay more subs
cornflake has got to be one of the best melee content creators to ever do it. Mans a legend
Nice work, and hopefully a nice footnote for greater moments to come.
This video was fucking amazing loved the music choice as well really made it special.
This is such a great video. I swear every single mintage you make just hits different

cOrnflake keep doing you because all your videos are bangers. Thanks for the great content
idk how anyone could dislike this, sick video well done sir.
this was an amazing vid, Melee is never gonna die with all the love from the community.
We're arguing about Mango vs Armada... C0rnflake is the real GOAT.
i dont know why, but this video made me tear up
Everyone talks about cs:go and tf2 but no one ever talks about how this game is still very alive with its own developers sabotaging its own growth.
The 5:49 BOYS edit was fucking inspired dude. Incredible music choice and everything
Wizzrobe's popoffs are a genuine treat to watch
Why are you so good at making me shed a tear of happiness.
beauuuutiful, thank you for doing this
Commenting for the algorithm, that shit was cool.
Good compilation, lots of fun moments and of course keeping the game alive and hyper than ever :)
banger video as always c0rnflake, 2020 was somehow an amazing year of smash
