I LOVE instrumentals, because even after years of listening to a song... you come across the instrumental and hear so many subtleties in the instrumentation. I really thought this instrumental was just a (very close) approximation because of "differences" I heard. Then I went back to the main version... and I hear those "differences" that were there all along under the vocals! Amazing. Thanks for posting

I have wore out many a cassettes listening over and over to this song for 31 years since its first release back in the summer of 87. It's legit.

This is the real original version by the band U2,it is not a cover version !!.The blips you hear as in 1:06 are security tabs set by the record company .Apart from that,this is the real U2 VERSION minus Bono- although you can hear him with the final security tab at 3:46 .

There are parts of the original (i.e. the end guitar parts) but overall this is a fantastic instrumental. Could rant on about how it doesn't sound exactly the same on certain bits, but this is U2 we're talking about and their sound is so unique that its almost impossible to recreate fully. Really enjoyed listening to this. Great job! :D

I am actually 99% certain that this _is_ the official instrumental version. The way that the outro notes (during the fade-out) are played is _exactly_ like the original.
To me it sounds like the original but prior to mixing-

Yeah I’m practicing my bass tabs like A5 8 times then E5 8 times then E3 8 times trying to hear it but when I had sinus infection it build up behind my ear drums so I don’t know if it sounds good like it supposed to
