    There's nothing like setting up your very first starter train set! The beginning of a lifetime hobby. Great memories. 20 years later and I've got my own layout and 14 locomotives.

    Awesome vid. I'm new to the train hobby and my first set was a fully functional American flyer at an estate sale for 30 dollars. I want something to set up in my room tho and keep it set up and didn't know what the smaller models were considered. Thanks! I hope I can get my hands on an n scale soon

    I really enjoy your channel and your love of all things model trains. And oh my the space that you get for your trains is amazing. My question today is have you ever made a video or thought of making a video about how to properly put together a period locomotive with the best assortment of cars? It is so confusing for a newbee. Modern locos, 60’s locos, 30’s, 00’s, old west locos. Then all the cars like 32’, 40’, 50’ and larger. Box cars, cattle cars, tankers, gondolas, flat beds. The variety seems endless. What are your thoughts on this question?

      Agree 100%. In my case, I’m interested in acquiring a V&T replica set, and I’m already learning that, as a practical choice, I’m going to have to find a similar appearing 18th Century locomotive and repaint it, and possibly remove/reconfigure the locomotive to appear as a V&T train. A way to compare locomotives in one database would be a dream, and I’m a little surprised by now there aren’t a couple tools like that. Perhaps I haven’t stumbled across it yet.
      Thanks for reading.

    I have a question. I have recently started collecting 1:64 scale diecast model trucks and cars. If HO is half the size of O scale wouldn't that size train set be about the same range as 1:64? I don't want there to be a huge discrepancy in size If I build a diorama. Thanks to anyone who can help. 😊

    I really hate leaving a negative comment, but why do people think they need music in the background when they're talking. I don't mind it as a short introduction or at the end, but it was distracting and unnecessary for this presentation. At the very least, it should by low enough so it's not competing with the speaker.

      I know this may sound weird, but I kinda think Mattel should start making S-scale stuff. S-scale is 1/64th scale, which is exactly the same scale as their Hot Wheels brand. Might be a good way to get kids into the hobby, especially if they make their products interactive like they do with the Hot Wheels products.

    Was really wanting to get into N gauge but the cost is prohibitive for casual hobbyists, even those with a good bit of disposable income.

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 2 года назад

      Yeah, N can be nasty when you really start building larger layouts with it, since there's literally no cost benefit to going small and you have to buy a lot more of everything to fill your allotted layout space.
      Surprisingly, it's actually cheaper to go big if you stick to second-hand models, kitbashing and scratchbuilding. G-scale gives a really good value in terms of price per square foot once you get over the initial investment, since you just don't buy nearly as much for the same amount of space.

    • @rxw5520
      @rxw5520 2 года назад

      @@VestedUTuber yeah, unfortunately G scale is just so huge, I’d have to make a ceiling mount system and put the track through my fucking walls!!!

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 2 года назад

      @@rxw5520
      You actually wouldn't need to do that. One other thing with G is that it's predominantly narrow-gauge, so the equipment is designed to handle sharp corners. Most G-scale models have a minimum curve radius of less than 25in. As a result you can fit quite a bit in a small space, and you'll only miss out on long-wheelbase non-articulated models and some long-wheelbase passenger and freight cars.
