    In SA its been known for 2 years now that RTZ was getting 50k a month from EG at a point. The peruvian players leaked their salary countless times

    EG Peruvian team: 12k/month
    Last Beastcoast: 8k/month
    Thunder Awaken that got 6th at TI: 2k/month
    RTZ 50k month, cr1t between 30-40k, rest of EG was around 20-25k.

      When top8 major get 12.5k prize and below top 8 get you 0$…. Top 2 major get 100k, less than whole team salary combined. Meaning eg need to constantly win 1M tour or pray for sponsor and merch etc to profit. Lol

    Hi guys, I'm loving the content. An idea for a segment of the show: Could you break down a draft from a big game or big matchup and explain how the strategy and timings of the draft worked out (or didnt work out for the other team) and how the draft supports the team's preferred play style and individual talents? I want to learn about some of the teams play styles and strengths, and can't always pick it up just from watching the games or highlights.

      Sir this is a reaction drama podcast that sounds way too quality.
      Not a bad idea though for a different kind of series!

    • @Ozblock1
      @Ozblock1 3 месяца назад

      Fair enough, It wouldn't need to be particularly long. It could be dramatic too where SVG can rant about how they picked a weird hero for a player that doesn't play that hero and likes to play fast but they played slow (or whatever). Anyway food for thought.

    Question to cap and svg:
    Do players and coaches divide most of the tournament winnings or do they get smaller percentages because teams are paying them salaries? How are taxes determined? Example with Topsonl, will he he charged based on the TI prizepools? Finland charges 40% tax from what I read.

    • @sebastiangundolf6740
      @sebastiangundolf6740 3 месяца назад

      As far as I know taxes depend on your place of residency not your nationality and also on the laws of the country where you earn the money.
      So it may be taxed in the country you play the tournament in and the rest is then taxed where you live but usually both to a lesser amount. Means you pay twice but the sum is about the same as if you'd get taxed a single time, that's how it works at least in most European countries.
      People earning a lot of money this way often try to evade some taxes by having their residency e.g. in Malta or other places with very low taxes. If they truly live there or only on paper is another question

    • @sneakyninjatroll
      @sneakyninjatroll 3 месяца назад

      @@sebastiangundolf6740 thanks for the information. How will the taxes be based regarding tournament winnings? You see in the eSports highest earnings list, it is based on the tournament winnings. Is that going to be an issue if teams only give a small percentage to players since they pay them salaries?

    Hey guys hope you're having a good time casting. I have a question on the topic of revenue streams for teams and players: why or when did valve stop creating sets and items together with teams? Last one i remember is the dota cinema one that kind of fell in that category. Especially now that valve said themselves that they dont want to create as many cosmetics anymore. So the opportunity to outsource is there no? Thanks

    Question for future episeode:
    How many pro players you estimate are making living out of competing in Dota 2? I mean as main source of income. Doesnt need to be getting filthy rich only enough to pay the bills.
    Part 2 of the question is adding all of the people that make living out of dota (Streamers, content creators, pros, talents etc.) how many you think there are?

    i mean team spirit was scouted from unknown players, except for miposhka and silent who were helping with scouting, and you know what happened next. so it seems like orgs either choose from working on already working teams, maybe replacing some things (like zai -> 33), or, for building a new team: 1-2 trusted players + maybe a scout from org choosing other players. the only example of a scout i can think of is the manager of ts

    • @petespeedsxp4967
      @petespeedsxp4967 3 месяца назад

      But was it really scouting since the team already existed? Team Spirit signed Yellow Submarine which had 4/5 later TI winning members except for Mira who came later.

    Love you guys! ❤
    My question for da boiz is: How do I get my girlfriend to watch Dota seriously with me? Should I try to get her started by playing the game herself? She is just confused by all the effects and abilities and there is no way to "explain" a team fight while it is happening.. so I really understand that it is not the most fun to watch for her.
    But she really enjoyed the game with the base race at the end because the objective was very obvious and easily understood.
    PS: I try to hide you guys from her because I am afraid she'd instantly fall in love with Avery. As I did..
    Just kidding! 😅
    Please don't steal my girl Austin..

    well look at that, SVG's Falcon prediction was accurate. Top of the group in the end.
    On Crownfall: If you're not aware, Riot has a high budget fighting game coming out that has a decent amount of hype on it so maybe Valve wanted a piece of it. Probably a coincidence but possibility.

      TS' current standings/earnings cannot compete salary-wise with other orgs (Matu, Zai & Nisha all went to Liquid) -- so building a strong roster with proven players is out of the question.
      They will have to scout and find younger talent and claw their way back to form, takes a while longer and this is what TS is pursuing.

  • @takeastepbackk

    valve used to have a great "sticker system" for dota2 - TI Compendium. it was a great system for orgs too..yes, it over inflated the TI prize pool but it definitely helped to create a healthier-ish ecosystem. maybe a revamped compendium that could help create/sustain a healthy pro dota scene (with compendium money used to create a better T2/T3 scene)?
    would a revamped TI compendium be good/bad for dota?

    Been loving the podcast. Question for the boiz: as dota enters it's 11th year and other games also entering longer lives like cs n league. What do you feel is the push needed to make people believe that these titles can be focused on and developed like traditional competitive sports. Where the ecosystem of coaches n players and organisations/sponsors can sustainably exist. Because even with decent viewership or numbers it feels like sometime there is that apprehension because of the fear the game might die off

    Could you go more indepth on dota teams revenue stream and how they plan to develop future source of revenue?
    For example Chinese League of Legends teams are profitable because, among others, their merch are selling very well to female chinese fans. As a result they can afford to pay millions in salary to a single player. Korean teams can do that to a certain extent but so far western fans simply dont have the same attitude to buying merchs.
    What are the alternatives for western Dota team ?
    Starcraft broodwar players can now leverage their older fan base who often have much more disposable income, raking lots of money from donations and self organized tournaments / events. Many players are now earning more from streaming / self organized events than they ever did as pro employed by orgs. Is that the sustainable way forward given that average age of dota fan base is already pretty high?
