I feel like I’m in a similar mindset. In 2025 I want to change my shopping habits. I tried in 2024 and completely failed. I’m going to try again. I want to focus on my house improvements. I don’t have enough “extra” money to do house improvements and buy luxury bags. I have enough, I want to use what I all ready own and take a break from shopping.
Yeah!! I feel the same way. I want to pay off my car fully and just start saving money for other big purchases. I think I will still make purchases but I want to be a little more organized with my big buys in 2025. WE CAN DO THIS ❤️
“Life be life-ing” absolutelyyyy!! 🎯🎯🎯 I really enjoyed this video and I appreciated your honesty and transparency. I also find that it’s really beneficial to take a periodic step away from purchasing just to get re-grounded in reality. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype and FOMO when we’re constantly buying and looking for the next bag.
FOMO is a very good point! I am always afraid to miss out on the next best thing but in reality there will always be "the next best thing" around the corner.
Love the way you articulated your thoughts on all the points you mentioned. But agreed I feel like luxury stores in Europe especially feel actually luxurious but a lot of luxury stores here in the US just don’t feel special at all minus them offering you water haha
Great reasons and I think you are also correct in that there is nothing special happening so you are not missing anything. Ive scaled my collection tremendously. You just learn to see what you really love. Even if you had the time, a ton of bags is just not needed
You are so right! When it gets to the point where you cannot even remember that you just bought a bag, it's time to reflect. Personally, I'm on a one year "no spend" on handbags. I'm shopping my closet and enjoying handbag videos. I appreciate the style, fashion, and art, but the prices are crazy.
This past year, I have not bought a new bag. My last purchase was in April, 2023. I am purposefully using all of the bags I already have. The price increases have been a turn off for me. I pray for all the best in your studies and your trip.
Congrats on finishing school!!! I think it’s a bit of maturity that happens when you get a bit older and realize that the stuff you use to spend money on no longer makes sense. That’s happened with me and I end up shopping my own closet and finding things that I’ve totally forgotten about, makes me smile when I ‘refind’ these items. Keep up the great videos!!!
I plan on a strict no buy year in 2025, but i literally bought over 10 designer bags in the past 2 months to brace myself for the no buy 😅😂 i can do it though i did it in 2023 all my money went to stocks 😊 oh gosh it was more like 15 bags 💀💀
Spot ON about the New collection fatigue! I used to (as early as March this year) would purchase a new bag, shoes etc from some designers. I used to be in love with Louis Vuitton. However everytime you scroll the website, it’s literally new stuff. I remember even 10 years ago, they had two drops a year…. It’s just…. Fast fashion. I am not phased by any of their stuff. I have like 8 LV bags I’ve bought from boutique but will just use them as errands bag forever coz they are so sturdy. I just feel blah for them.
Such a great video Haley. Thank you for speaking the truth about this. We can’t do EVERYTHING😩, no matter how hard we may want to.😂 I’ll be in your same boat( hopefully) next year. I’m applying to every nursing school I can in California. Going back to school will take a HUGE chunk of our finances, as I will have to cut down my work hours significantly. What you are doing Haley is the greatest luxury of all. Being able to invest in yourself for a year or so and immerse yourself in pursing a new career goal. I think what we consider “luxury,” is only material, but luxury can mean so many things. You absolutely should “treat yourself,” to a new bag!🤗 What a great accomplishment it will be. Sending lots of love and wishing you every success in your last term of your degree!🎉🫶
Hi Haley, in your opinion to get the best deals would you say Germany is the best place to shop in Europe, or would it be other countries like France or Italy? Is the pricing pretty much the same across Europe when it comes to luxury items? Congratulations on almost being done with school. 🥳YAY!
I would say that France, Germany, and Italy have similar pricing structures. The big thing is knowing the exchange rate (if the Euro is stronger than the dollar some items might not be worth the purchase) and know the VAT refund process. The pricing you see in a lot of European luxury shops is what you pay and then dependent on the amount you will get a tax refund of anywhere from 7-15% if I am not mistaken back. So if you are looking at a basic neverfull from LV which costs about $2175 where I live would run you about $1575 in Germany (with no tax refund). The tax refund would probably save you another $150 so you are looking at the neverfull costing you about $1450 in Germany vs the USA.
Great hot topic! Black Friday and Cyber Monday, I’m asking myself a lot of hard questions: 1. Am I going to use this? 2. How often am I going to use this? 3. Do you really need it? Omg…the interrogation I am putting myself into 😰😓 Trying to think logical with so many temptations 😈🛍️
I am keeping myself off the internet Friday so I don't fall into any traps. There is only (1) purchase I would like to make this BF and it is a matching set from Spanx that I have had my eyes on for a few months... but everything else I will try to stay strong on!!
Great video and congrads in your sucess!!! It's already done, excited for you. For luxury I get it, I am only spending money where there is joy and do I need it? Have a happy Thanksiving.
I only wear my backpack as is my sale victoria's secret backpack goes with me everywhere! I was debating if I wanted a designer backpack but I don't want it in a hospital collecting germs and being abused.
I agree with you 💯 I can relate with all your points 🫤 I retired last year & don’t wear my bags often because I have nowhere to go except for Costco or Wal-Mart ☹️ I have new bags that I haven’t worn yet that I need to incorporate into my rotation. This year I added a couple of LV preloved, staple pieces. And last but not least, new LV’s prices are ridiculous & have turned me off completely. I guess that works in my favor since I don’t plan on getting anything anytime soon! Best of luck in your studies! Been there & done that, there’s nothing better than investing in your future!
I dont want to buy luxury after the Dior scandal, especially from LVMH. If my money dont even cover above average pay for the workers i cant justify the price. The vachetta on Louis Vuitton bags saves me so much money because it would look like moldy wood if it gets wet, and you use it with oily hands with lotion. I cant be bothered regarding vachetta..
Women should have more honest conversations about money, we can really learn a lot from each other. Unless you own your home outright, have a years salary in the bank and great superannuation, you (meaning anyone) are too poor for luxury.
@@Karalolcowlaw that is a skewed view. I don’t think owning a home is the “dream” for a lot of people. I would like to buy a home but I don’t think I would be a “better” person or be a more luxurious person if I owned a home. A year’s salary is also subjective because some people probably have more money than you will ever have/make in the bank but dont own a home. Luxury means different things to different people. What you perceive to be luxurious is not what I perceive to be luxury 🤷🏽♀️I think all the things you mentioned are important but the key takeaway is that they are important to you.

SAMEEE!!!!😂 except you’re making me feel better about buying 7 bags in the last 2 months to “prepare” myself.
Thank you for this perspective. I agree wholeheartedly!

Real Talk! Wishing you success on getting your degree. Hang in there and stay focused. It will be worth the effort.❤❤❤
Good luck on your school journey! You will crush it if you’re even half as detailed as in your videos. ❤

I bought so many bags from 2018-2022, I stopped myself from buying any more bags since Feb 2022

If you’re going to be an RN. I doubt you’ll wear many bags. All the RNs I work with wear backpacks😂
Surgical Tech here and its so true!!!! Me and my backpack are going to work tomorrow morning!!! lol
