For me, the ideas in ruclips.net/user/postUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.
How you go about your entire build has been inspiring, prepared to make mistakes, documenting hiccups instead of projecting 'too cool for school!', focusing on the details that will educate the viewer, keeping the costs down and methods incorporated low tech, empowering all who watch it to have a crack, You should be proud of yourselves and thanks for choosing to share all the info. Gutsy effort
This is amazing. One day if I actually build a tiny house, I ought to write this channels name down on one of the construction pieces so that it will forever be immortalised in my house.
Great job and great presentation. Thanks. A little hack I learned from dad way back in the 1970s. If you run your screws or nails across handsoap (no water) it will greatly reduce splitting. It also works when you run it down the tongues of the tongue and groove to make them slide together more easily. A lot of carpenters of old would carry bees wax in their nail bags for this purpose. Handsoap is just cheaper.
This was very helpful to me as I’ll do this step in a couple of months. Very helpful to see all the planning, reasoning, details, adjustments, and successes, thank you!
So I've made my way through all your videos, and I love them! I thought I was clever buying an ild camper to use as my tiny home and in reasearchung how to do things, found this wonderful channel and realized it's been done before! Which is awesome because now I can learn from you! I'm looking forward to the overly informative video on your wheel wells because I have been trying to figure out what to do in that area if my tiny home!
Nice work. Good quality in your details. My son is vegan and he keeps working me! I’ve been vegetarian for about two years at his prompting, and I’m sure at some point I’ll give in. I’m really proud of him for having strong convictions and living by them - what more can a dad ask for? Be well.
So listen to your son. He's right. But don't look at it as given in. It is a change to be sure, but it isn't a sacrifice. Once you get past the transition period and learn new things to eat that you might have used dairy or egg for I think you will realize that you haven't really given up a single thing and gained a lot in the way of personal health, health for the planet, and peace and a release from endless suffering for the animals. If you think that dairy cows and layer hens don't suffer, I suggest poking around here on RUclips for some undercover video on the dairy and egg industries (this one is a 5 minute expose of the dairy industry: ruclips.net/video/UcN7SGGoCNI/видео.html). In many ways the egg and dairy industries are far worse than the meat industries since the males calves and chicks are killed immediately (except for some of the make calves who are penned up unable to move for several months then killed for veal). The cows and hens have been bred to produce 6-7 times as much milk or 10-20 times as many eggs as they normally would, which takes a terrible toll on their bodies. Usually after just a couple of years (in animals that can live 20 years) they are spent and broken down, and so are killed for low quality ground meat or turned into pet food.
Ok Mike...you're tripping me out..lol. Been watching you Mic the Vegan for years and now i stumble on this video researching a cedar plank project. Nicely done btw.
Great videos! When I watch you, I feel like the info you are sharing is from trial and error; it’s exactly what I would do. You should get your wife in there more. She’s not as, “TV polished”, but I find her take refreshing.
Hi! Thank you for your videos! I was wondering, if it was maybe a good idea, to actually HAVE a tiny gap under the window and the plank below, so that it can dry better?
very impressive. Two questions: how come no need for air gap behind the cladding? Ive lso read that t&g should be separated by 2mm to allow for movement -- though no-one says HOW to keep them apart! Any wisdom from anyone would be welcome, much.
Sometimes it's called battens, sometimes furring. It's strips of wood screwed onto the stud lines and the cladding gets screwed onto that. On a house it's often an inch thick but it can be as little as an eighth and still work. You're not supposed to caulk at either the bottom or the top, only at the sides. No battens right on the corners. That part needs to be a cavity.
@@thomasross4921 thank you, I am on here looking for others who recommend this, as my tiny was cedar-clad by someone else and though it looks beautiful there is moisture in there. I was just told it all has to come off and be done with this gap. I am devastated! I was hoping there was another way to avoid this.
Looks great, I’d like to see the roof. Also wonder how much weight it would add to a travel trailer? I have 3/8” thick cedar siding on my hot tub. Trying to find some.
I am just having this problem now, and was looking for videos to see if anyone added a strapping layer for this reason! we have moisture in the walls from the outside, and i'm not even in the house yet :( The outer layer was done by someone else. :(
Looks amazing. I actually have an Alside Vinyl siding which is vinyl with an Integrated 1-1/2" thick EPS rigid foam insulation, backed by a lifetime limited, transferable warranty. It includes fade and hail protection. That would be nice and beautiful on a tiny home. It is here in OR. I am guessing you could essentially just order it from this company and install it using RUclips. Your wood siding looks very nice.
I looked at most, if not all, of your lectures these past couple of days. You two are superior instructors and very easy to understand. It is now 10/24/21. Are you currently living in your tiny home? I would love to build my own tiny home. Do you give hands on training?
Great video. Thanks for puttin this out there to help others make less mistakes. My only concern here (based mostly on research) is only screwing the top and not the bottoms of the t & g boards. One seemingly informed opinion says to fasten both top and bottom of boards for buildings exposed to potentially high winds, which a tiny house would be if it's towed at high speeds. Any thoughts/experiences on this? It'd be a shame for the siding to pull out. Thanks again for the video and feedback.
That is awesome! Edit: Hey the exposed screws are no big deal, if you feel they look too sketchy you can put some wood fillers on top. Did I say how awesome this is?:P
Micky think I would have pre nailed then installed. Sometimes a brad nailer is better than spitting wood. Another trick is to reverse drill before drilling stops the spitting
Hello! you guys did an awesome job building and making informative videos, though I am wondering, Have you guys taken your home out on the road yet? How does it hold up with the shifting and wind and all that? Do you feel its strong enough to travel with regurlarly?
For someone who like to explain every single thing he is trying to do or done with any of the cuts, I don’t get why you chose to ignore the fact you broke that piece with the v cut. I mean what you think we didn’t see it. It was such a small detail that you should have own it to show us that even you make mistakes as opposed to trying to making us “believe” that all your cuts are perfect because am pretty sure that after every cut you make you actually try it on before you actually turn the camera on so that you can make adjustments so that when you do press rec the cut you made was absolutely perfect right..
Those holes must be predrilled, even the ones you put in without splitting they will eventually split when they dry out. Your technique is terrible. Screws should be lower on the tongue and predrilled. Screws need to be almost straight in to bite on the metal studs. Vinny 🇺🇸
What’s the matter with your woman? Let me guess she gets offended with a bit of constructive criticism if so tell her to stay out the video being that she didn’t actually do anything in it other than try to boss someone around. . Typical of them Guess what I do what I want woman.

Sorry for all the typos 😂 I don't proof read 😳
What? You have a DIY channel also? I had no idea. This is awesome!
The house is really coming along!! Great work guys! Super informative video 👍
Haven't checked back here in a while and - man.. this is coming along so well. It's absoluetely awesome!
Great job you guys!
Nice work. Good quality in your details.

Sat watching this in a coffee shop in England - 18:42 made me laugh a little loud. Thanks ;)
love how you got those top pieces in.
You do nice work !
Both construction and video
Thanks for posting
Damn these guys are so good at building stuff, especially that guy. Also, how do you plant a garden? ‘You cedar.’ Zinggggg
Mic the Vegan Why are you not verified?
😆
Did y’all know Mic is a Vegan?
Very inspiring. Great work and attention to detail. I'm impressed by how much you are able to accomplish.
It looks so incredible! I was wondering if you both were going to be posting videos again. Thank you for this video!
Ok Mike...you're tripping me out..lol. Been watching you Mic the Vegan for years and now i stumble on this video researching a cedar plank project. Nicely done btw.
That house is looking good Mike. You rock!🤩👍
Please upload more videos!! They are so helpful!!
Love watching the process but cant wait for the end product!
Looks beautiful!
Your great..can you put cedar Sliding like you did over the metal siding on RV.
Great videos! When I watch you, I feel like the info you are sharing is from trial and error; it’s exactly what I would do. You should get your wife in there more. She’s not as, “TV polished”, but I find her take refreshing.

Just discovered this channel, can't wait for your next upload
Hey, great wood crafting.
Awesome video! Hey now that it's over 4yrs, how has that Spal Urethane held up?
waiting for next video. loving these!
Looks great, I’d like to see the roof. Also wonder how much weight it would add to a travel trailer? I have 3/8” thick cedar siding on my hot tub. Trying to find some.
Was it necessary to install venting for the wood siding? I think they call it rain screening.
We must be due a new video from you guys soon?
Hi, I really appreciate that. Thanks
Can this work out for an rv trailer.
you should have installed cavity battens to allow your outer shell to dry out any condensation

Could that cedar siding work for an RV or would it be too heavy? Is there thinner wooden siding I could get that would cover the outside metal walls?
I am sorry if I missed it, but to you have a list of the materials you used? (Screws, etc). Thank you!
So just between having the tongue up and the urethane stain, is that siding actually waterproof?

noticed you didn't use a rain screen. Is that necessary for a tiny home?
Hi! If I want to apply Helmsman with a air spray gun, with what product should I thin it? Thx. Do I need to put Wster sealer before the Helmsman?
How much weight did that add to the trailer? I have a 28 foot travel trailer I need to reside and trying to come up with some ideas.
Awesome job!
That Roof idea was genious *cries*
They're offsetting their vegan non-carbon-footprint by making the most non-aerodynamic gas guzzling rig possible.
Don't know if I missed it. What length and number screw did you use?
You should pre drill your holes. I know it feels like more work but if you pre drill before placing wood it goes faster over all
That is awesome!
Edit: Hey the exposed screws are no big deal, if you feel they look too sketchy you can put some wood fillers on top.
Did I say how awesome this is?:P
Hey! I am having so much difficulty finding wood. Where did you get your cedar?
You guys are awesome 😎

What happened with the build?
Looks great. Do you have a Kenworth to haul that tiny thing around?
This is what I am aiming for! I am already vegan and I want to live in a tiny house some day. I may have to get someone else to build my tiny, though.
Vegans can look like that and do hard labour? - *the future is bright!!!!* _OK, tiny bright_
I’m only here because I thought I saw Mike on the thumbnail!!! 🌱🤩
It looks like you would have to pre-drill every hole on top end
How much would it cost to fly you both over to Australia and to build a tiny house for me? 😆
200 bitcoins
Cloo Lcoo 😂
the windows you used are not allowed on the road
It's so huge so far
waay to tight. need an 1/8th around border for expansion. let me know if anything pops out
tight!

imo you should have at least 7000# axles on that thing.
Перед просмотром 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️👏👏👏😇🎉😅🤭💨😷🙏🤘
Thanks for the tip on screwing through the tongues...I would have just face nailed them...silly me!
Looks heavy

All that weight saving and you use wood siding LoL
Hey its that vegan guy! You should stick to construction.
What’s the matter with your woman? Let me guess she gets offended with a bit of constructive criticism if so tell her to stay out the video being that she didn’t actually do anything in it other than try to boss someone around. . Typical of them
Guess what I do what I want woman.
Have you had issues with rot or mold not using fir strips and jsut installing direct on the wrap with no gaps?
