@@Cdr2002 The only time it lead to structural issues was with Hoist/Grapple. as the Silver used on the Micron Legend Grapple was translucent, and therefore brittle.
One of the things I always have credit to the figures and character in the Unicron Trilogy was that the designs on the toys matched well visually with the on screen versions, like a one to one recreation of sorts not including articulation, unlike most other toys from the franchise that had difficulty matching up
This went to extremes in Cybertron. Optimus has a lever on the back of his head, and Overhaul’s Cyber Key weapon looks for all the world like a toy missile!
Cybertron Evac has a long red rod sticking out of the side of the upper part of his helicopter mode. It's the lever that activates his spinning rotor gimmick on the toy, faithfully recreated in the animation model.
I feel like th posing on Ironhide wasn't actually as bad as it looks. I believe you can fake a pivot because of the way the legs transform when he's powerlinking as a submissive and bree- bottom. You can easily use those hinges to work better leg posability.
Especially with cybertron. Making them cg was prob the best move for having 1:1 model accuracy. Even seeing the robot bits stick out in their vehicle modes
I think the Dreamwave Comic version of Transformers Energon was better then the show version. Especially because Ironhide wasn’t Annoying in the comic like he was in the show.
@@DarkScorch I didn’t say I didn’t like the shows both the comics and the show both were better in some areas then others part of both versions of the series but I always like the comics because how they different they were to the show and I think both could have benefited from influence each other in all honesty.
Screwy proportion combo modes are always fun. The Unicron Trilogy has some pretty solid toys overall, and while they lack posing they can feel REALLY good in hand. Any shortcomings of their shows can be handled with just liking the feel and giving them adventures around the house.
i used to be on the train of “haha energon is so bad, ironhide sucks ass” but then i actually watched the show and it’s not the worst thing ever, i actually ended up liking ironhide, even if the performance could be a bit grating. anyways, if you ever need to pawn this lad off, i get first dibs, i really like this boy
honestly I dig how this ironhide totally runs with the exposed head. I kind of want to see him return someday in generations, though I have no idea how that's supposed to happen. the last version of him was a t30 roadbuster recolor, so maybe a new roadbuster toy could be a starting point
Yes, the energon toys were pretty good, actually. I recently was lucky enough to find and be able to buy a dirty cheap Divebomb, a toy I always wanted as a kid, and it's fantastic in both modes, all things considered. I love how they designed the animal robots in energon, instead of just making a robotic version of it, they added nice touches, like B. Ravage's mace tail, and the feather-like wings on Divebomb, or Scorponok's scorpion mode, which is, actually, a construction vehicle in the shape of a scorpion. I love how these three look, and I hope that I can find the other two terrorcons, some day. The only thing bad about it was that I never had two autobots of the same class to properly powerlinx them. Just like in your case, I only have 1 Mega and 1 Combat class.
Execution was Energon's greatest downfall, I've seen a video talking about all the plot points and character beats that are actually brought up in energon and how elaborate and well-rounded a properly executed cartoon would have or could have been, and it makes me upset, genuinely, that it turned out so shit
Energon to me is better than most of G1 or Prime. Flaws are subjective. I for one can't stand most of Cybertron, especially the first ten episodes, despite many saying it's somehow the best of the trilogy. I find the clunky Energon CGI charming, while Cybertron and RID 2015 look ugly to me.
I recognize Energon is plagued with mistakes, but you're right, fun is one of the few positive things they accomplished. I specially respect Hot Shot for having pants mode, shirt mode, robot mode, car mode, AND Alternators features (opening doors and an opening hood with an engine)
I honestly love his head just sitting on top. It was pretty cool to me when he and kicker were driving around and he was able to just speak and look around. It kinda feels like a plus for a species that can turn into vehicles for some reason

Yo
He’s great and horrible at the same.
THIS figure is ONE of the main reasons I absolutely HATED ENERGON and the figures in that line... I hated that he was SO FREAKING chunky, and a similar enough vehicle and colored up more like SKIDS than Ironhide, and WORSE THAN THAT, I absolutely HATED that he was SUCH a young punk b!+©# in the cartoon (which I didn't bother even finishing a full episode... Couldn't make myself do it... Hated, HATED the animation style AND especially the lame@$$ dialogue, characterization and voice acting!!! OMG... It was SUCH $#!T!!!😵🙄😑😑😑).
Pot bellied, chicken legs Optimus Prime was ANOTHER example of why I hated this line, after mostly enjoying Armada... HATED ENERGON enough that I only bought certain figures, mostly Decepticons, I believe, whereas I had bought nearly EVERYTHING from Armada, even with its flaws...
I pretty much hated everything about the Energon concept. It was chunky, clunky, LAZY and lame, and I was sad about that because I wanted it to be GOOD... "GOOD" as in, better than Armada "GOOD"... But it was SO MUCH WORSE!!! (On EVERY level, it was worse...😔)
Cybertron seemed to try and repair some of the damage Energon did across the board, but they didn't do enough to fix things with figures AND show, for me to buy more than JUST a few figures I thought looked kind of cool all-around. Which is unfortunate, because I really wanted Cybertron to be BETTER than Energon (which it barely was), AND AT LEAST as good as Armada, (but it wasn't...), so I could get back into a Transformers line again... Cybertron didn't really do it, unfortunately.
NOT UNTIL Classics began in 2007, did I get back into a line seriously. It was a great start towards G3/Generations, even though some of the figures weren't exactly ideal renditions in toy format. STILL Classics seems to have really kickstarted Third Party creativity because of that, so I'm NOT complaining about those figures, despite imperfections, because HasTak were in the process of getting a feel for what MANY fans wanted, and it takes a little bit to get in that groove...
ALSO, it got us cool 3rd Party upgrades for Ultra Magnus, Prime, & Hot Rod/Rodimus to name just a few... Stuff like the City Commander Armor, the freaking awesome G3 Trailer for Optimus, that's STILL as good or BETTER than MP-10V's trailer, in its OWN way (and I wish someone would reproduce it for our Kingdom Optimus figures!!!), and the Protector Armor upgrade to convert Classics HOT Rod into a full on voyager Rodimus Prime in bot mode, AND his vehicle mode, with a base option and cannons, plus his own hotrod version of Roller!!!
If Hasbro plans to revisit Energon in their Legacy line, I sincerely hope that they do a MUCH better job than the first time around... If they DO, who knows? I MIGHT actually buy some of them this time around.
Jeez, don't most G1 or Prime extremists have better things to do than talk about their stupid hate boners about the Unicron Trilogy??
